The concept of reflection: is it skill based or values?

Reflection, reflectivity, reflective practice, reflective praxis and critical reflection are all dialogical terms used interchangeably to mean different things. It is timely to take time out and pause on this important concept to consider the wider implications of its use. Whatever reflection is, we know there are difficulties in identifying this complex idea writers, practitioners and scholars constantly engage with reflection in new debates about ‘how to do it better’ assuming the ‘it’ is something assessed and understood. More worryingly a student’s ability to reflect is assessed assuming the idea of reflective practice is a measureable phenomenon. Some have identified problems of assessing reflection. There is limited empirical evidence of what is reflection. In the substantial literature on reflection we have failed to ask the question – ‘What is reflection it if doesn’t exist that I might be able to perform it better and others can measure?’ The problem of reflection is more complicated when presenting reflective performance through language, which will also be explored. This article presents a challenge to contemporary ideas of the way in which reflection is conceptualised and understood. The article concludes with insights and a way forward for a new argument on reflection and how it might be linked to virtue ethics rather than it being viewed as a skill that can be taught.     

Mindful of the Intersession Break in Family Therapy: The Time to Think Experiment

The Time to Think Experiment researches the experience of clinicians, consumers, and families of an intersession break, which has been used historically in various models of family therapy training. This qualitative pilot study explores the experiences of 21 clinicians, 19 consumers, and six family members using this break for reflection, across the domains of family and couple therapy, individual therapy, group work, and supervision in a mental health service covering the whole age range. Using a phenomenological design, the analysis included narrative, thematic, content, and comparative techniques. The paper considers the impact of privileging reflection in the therapy process, in a climate where models, work cultures, and general lifestyles may not encourage it. Using the intersession break to create space to ‘be’ in the therapy process is one way to integrate mindful and family therapy practice. The emerging themes of an intersession break to promote a richer and deeper therapy experience, and the apparent shift of responsibility for change from clinicians to consumers is discussed.

马克思主体性概念的两个维度

在近代西方哲学的“认识论中心主义”主导倾向的影响下,人们习惯于从认识论维度出发去阐释马克思的主体性概念,从而忽略了马克思主体性概念的本体论维度。本文认为,马克思的主体性概念有两个维度,即本体论维度和认识论维度。其中本体论维度是始源性的,而这两个维度统一在实践的基础上。重新研究马克思的主体性概念具有重要的理论意义和现实意义。     

政治权力的反思与重构——基于女性主义国际关系理论视角

政治权力是政治学与国际关系等社会科学中的一个核心概念,其中权力可以视作手段、目的、关系过程与行为结果。女性主义国际关系理论对政治权力的认识、发现并批评了古典政治哲学与现实主义政治权力观的不足,在再认识的基础上,对政治权力的载体、目标和话语等进行了深刻反思,相应地从内涵、认知、目标等方面对政治权力进行重构。本文认为,政治权力的主体价值,是使政治权力的领导者构成得以重塑,而女性主义国际关系理论则推动了区域化与全球治理进程,促进了国际关系民主化。     

医古文翻译：基于翻译适应选择论视角

随着中医的发展逐渐走向国际化,关于中医的中外交流日益增多,而对中医的翻译却又难以达到令人满意的水平。其难点主要在于保证医学信息的正确与完整的同时,又要将中医中文化内涵准确地传达。本文试图运用翻译适应选择论这一新译论,将医古文译者在翻译过程中的适应与选择通过语言维、文化维、交际维这三大维度进行分析和说明,以期为医古文翻译的障碍找出解决办法,提高翻译质量,促进文化交流。     

论从平面到立体的转换属于著作权法上的复制

复制权是著作权中最重要的一项经济权利,对复制权进行准确的界定有着十分重要的意义。我国对于从平面到立体的转换行为,法律没有做出明确规定。由于立法上的缺位,使得司法实践中对该种转换态度不一。文章拟在分析该类行为的实质及国际通行的做法后,提出该种转换应当纳入我国法律体系之中,以适应经济发展,扩大国际交往。

通过对就业维度语境下高职学生非专业素质重要影响的分析,从三个方面考察了当前就业维度的高职学生非专业素质培养现状,并对就业维度的高职学生非专业素质培养框架提出了初步构想。     

道德认知的默会维度——基于认知结构的分析

在道德认知的研究中,对认知结构、道德判断在认知过程中的作用方式存在不同见解,需要一种新的认识进路来诠释。采用默会知识论的一些观点来分析道德认知,可以发现,默会认识的结构与道德认知结构都从格式塔学派的观点发展而来,在发展方向上也都强调认识者主动的整合能力和结构的动态平衡。道德认知的结构与内容之间的关系,与默会知识论中知道怎样(knowhow)和知道那个事实(knowthat)之间的关系表述在方式上基本一致,并强调道德判断的产生须借助于道德主体的情感和价值取向在具体特定条件下完成。因此,道德认知具备人类认识的默会维度,道德认知的发展需要两个必不可少的条件:道德判断能力的发展,以及个体在道德认知结构中的身体在位。道德认知的默会维度支持一种实践性的教育方法,强调通过生活实践来促进道德认知结构的发展,从而最终促进道德的发展。
