Social Capital and the Interplay of Families and Schools

Families and schools are two primary sources of social capital in the early life course. This study examines the degree to which these different contexts overlap to shape adolescent development. Multilevel modeling on nationally representative data (n = 11,927) revealed that emotionally distant relationships with parents were associated with declining academic achievement over 2 years of secondary schooling and that various aspects of the social environments of schools were associated with increasing academic achievement during this same period. Additionally, adolescents who had more social capital at home often benefited more from social capital at school.     

教学改革中的校长应对行为：领导及行动策略

教学改革是提高教学质量的基本途径。它的实施及成败与校长的行为直接相关。与以规范教学过程、维持教学秩序稳定为特征的日常教学管理行为不同,教学改革中的校长行为体现为一种以引导、影响、支持等为主要方式的领导行为。在教学改革中校长需要采取有效的领导策略,影响和保障改革的实施,才能实现提高教学质量的改革目标。通过对有关校长培训研讨交流资料的提炼加工,本文提出了若干教学改革的领导策略。     

Disabled students’ narratives about their schooling experiences

An ongoing interest in disabled learners’ voices has been reflected in a number of studies that explore students’ experiences of schooling, as part of the quest to understand how inclusive education can be achieved. These studies, however, have been conducted mainly in industrially developed countries, while very few studies exist from industrially developing countries such as Greece in which disabled people’s voices are under-represented not only in political processes but in research as well. The aim of this study was to investigate disabled students’ educational experience, their social interactions with peers and teachers, the choice of school and the support they received for responding to curricular demands and complexities. The results of the study confirmed that disabled students can provide invaluable information on matters involving their education, and showed how personal experiences of disability are influenced by the socio-cultural experiences lived in different social arenas, such as that of education.

伊里奇作为去学校化运动的领袖是个颇受争议的人物。伊氏认为在制度化社会中学校非但不能履行教育职能,反而阻碍了真正的教育和学习,因此必须废除异化的学校。代之学校的是教育网,它能够提供给人们一生不断学习、交流、共享资源的机会。置其去学校化思想于学校批判的视角下考察,有助于我们理解教育与学校的关系以及教育组织形式演变与发展的历程。     

基于教育视角浅析我国人力资本现状

本文在区分人力资本存量与人力资本投资两个概念的基础上，试图从教育视角实证分析两者分别对我国经济增长的贡献，从理论和现实角度均得出人力资本对我国经济增长具有巨大推动作用的结论，进而对我国人力资本的开发、投资与管理提出一些看法与建议。

Life Expectancy,Schooling, and Lifetime Labor Supply: Theory and Evidence Revisited

This paper presents a theoretical and empirical analysis of the role of life expectancy for optimal schooling and lifetime labor supply. The results of a simple prototype Ben‐Porath model with age‐specific survival rates show that an increase in lifetime labor supply is not a necessary, or a sufficient, condition for greater life expectancy to increase optimal schooling. The observed increase in survival rates during working ages that follows from the “rectangularization” of the survival function is crucial for schooling and labor supply. The empirical results suggest that the relative benefits of schooling have been increasing across cohorts of U.S. men born between 1840 and 1930. A simple quantitative analysis shows that a realistic shift in the survival function can lead to an increase in schooling and a reduction in lifetime labor hours.
