Noise subspace approach for frequency estimation of two-dimensional harmonics in zero-mean multiplicative and additive noise

In this paper, a noise subspace (NS) method is proposed for estimating frequencies of two-dimensional harmonics in the presence of zero-mean multiplicative and additive noise. The proposed method is based on a special structured data matrix, the singular vectors of the matrix and a special basis of the NS which is generated by some of these vectors. It is observed that the estimators are consistent and work quite well in terms of biases and mean square errors. It is also observed that the method can be used to estimate accurately the frequencies of the evanescent component of texture.

Forecasting before,during, and after recession with singular spectrum analysis

The aim of this research is to apply the singular spectrum analysis (SSA) technique, which is a relatively new and powerful technique in time series analysis and forecasting, to forecast the 2008 UK recession, using eight economic time series. These time series were selected as they represent the most important economic indicators in the UK. The ability to understand the underlying structure of these series and to quickly identify turning points such as the on-set of the recent recession is of key interest to users. In recent years, the SSA technique has been further developed and applied to many practical problems. Hence, these series will provide an ideal practical test of the potential benefits from SSA during one of the most challenging periods for econometric analyses of recent years. The results are compared with those obtained using the ARIMA and Holt–Winters models as these methods are currently used as standard forecasting methods in the Office for National Statistics in the UK.     

A solvable singular control problem driven by a jump diffusion process with applications

We consider a class of singular control problems driven by a double exponential jump diffusion process, which come from the reversible investment problem. In some interesting cases (e.g., the running cost function is given by the so-called Cobb-Douglas production function), we give the explicit solutions to the singular control problem by using the connection between singular control and optimal switching. We solve a collection of consistent optimal switching problems and yield the explicit solution for the singular control problem. We then give an application to a particular inventory control problem in a single random period.

复行为犯的实行行为研究

复行为犯是由两个或者多个行为相结合而形成的规范的实行行为所构成的犯罪,具有规范性、实行性等特征。因其内部构成行为具有复数性,对其实行行为的单复存在着不同看法。作为犯罪实行行为的一种表现形态,复行为犯的实行行为与简单行为犯的实行行为只有自身结构复杂程度的不同,并无数目上的差别;复行为犯作为单纯一罪,只能有一个实行行为。在司法实践中认定复行为犯实行行为时,需确立4个标准：以刑法分则条文的规定为基本标准;结合实质标准;综合考虑形式标准;注意是否违反禁止重复评价原则。
