Since 1985 the Department of Health has been providing child care research overviews as a means of bringing together the findings of its funded research programmes. With each successive publication a pattern of design and dissemination has emerged. This is illustrated by Child Protection: Messages from Research ( Department of Health 1995 ), an overview of 20 studies of child protection. It included an introductory essay, summaries of each project and a set of 'True for Us' exercises. Publication was followed by national seminars and widespread distribution of free copies. Given the substantial investment, it seems timely to assess the impact of the dissemination process in terms of reaching and affecting practice. The survey sought to assess awareness, use and opinions of the report from social services, education and health professionals. It consisted of questionnaires administered by post and telephone calls to a representative sample of 600 professionals working in child protection, 292 of whom replied. The results demonstrate that the book is very well known among most professionals working in child welfare, particularly in social services, and is perceived to have affected the practice of over half of the respondents. The study supports the structure adopted for the report but suggests further benefits in employing a variety of dissemination strategies for different professional groups. Finally, the paper discusses the relationship between overviews and evidence-based services.  相似文献

This paper argues that an explanation of the role of aesthetic patterning in human action needs to be part of any “qualitative” social theory. It urges the social sciences to move beyond contextualism and to see art as visual, acoustic and other media that lead to heightened sensory perception and the coordination of feelings through symbols. The article surveys the argument that art provides a basic model of how the self learns to interact with external environments; and the complementary thesis that art could be seen as integral to the emergence of systems of human knowledge, communication and economy. Ornamentation and stylization are advanced as two concrete devices through which human attention is captured and experience is ordered through aesthetic patterns. The conclusion is drawn that art offers the social sciences a meaningful account of the perceptual or “qualitative” dimensions of social interactions; and that this is much needed today.  相似文献

A list of the 215 full-time academic staff employed within Australian university social work departments was compiled from university websites and the Department of Education Training and Youth Affairs (DETYA) approved publications generated by these staff over the period 1998–2000 were searched using three major databases: AUSTROM, PsycINFO and Sociological Abstracts. From these sources, a list of Australia's most published authors was created. Next, a citation analysis using Social Sciences Citation Index was conducted on all Australian authors who had published a DETYA approved publication during the target period. The results of this study should help to identify the influential social work scholars in Australia.  相似文献

Abstract

This article reviews the recent research literature related to the use of spiritual interventions in the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. Empirical outcome studies are critically reviewed and a brief overview is given of spiritual interventions which have yet to be studied empirically. Areas for further research are delineated and philosophical and methodological issues related to the study of spiritual interventions are discussed.  相似文献

The study investigated how men and women with high and low levels of education perceive male and female targets who participate or do not participate in household chores. It was found that individuals liked both men and women who participated in the household chores more and wanted to engage in activities with them more than with the low‐participating targets. The participating man was perceived as more popular than the low‐participating man and was perceived as more feminine but not less masculine. In addition, although participants with both high and low levels of education preferred the participating man, the more educated participants preferred him more, attributed more masculinity to him, and expressed willingness to befriend him and engage in activities with him more than those with a lower level of education. It seems, then, that whereas in the 1990s both highly and less educated individuals perceive a male target who participates in household chores more favorably, this preference is more pronounced among the more educated individuals.  相似文献

农民工是计划经济向市场经济转型过程中形成的一个特殊的社会群体。但是,大多数进城农民工没有被纳入到城市的福利与公共资源分配体系中,农民工与城市居民之间的社会融合也存在很大问题,农民工在城市中遭受的社会排斥问题明显存在。通过对苏州地区农民工的实地调查,从劳动报酬、社会保障、社会关系、子女教育等方面对进城农民工群体的同城待遇现状及原因进行了具体分析;最后,提出了解决城市中农民工群体同城待遇问题的基本对策。  相似文献

人文社科类通识课程的设置与教学内容应该做到"少、精、全"相结合,应该尽可能做到所设计的"课程模块"的内容既没有交叉重复,又没有重要的缺漏。课程体系与教学内容的设计规划要贯彻递进性的原则,对每一类课程都应该按照"贯穿整个大学时代"的思路从教学内容与教学形式、教学环节、时间分布等方面作精心的设计与规划。为此,应该建立起由三种规划的有机结合构成的三维系统框架:一是全面而又不交叉重复的内容规划(先设置若干课程模块,再把每一模块下的课程分为"原理与分支"、"历史与学派"、"经典研读"、"论文撰写"四种类型);二是各种教育、训练"方式、途径"相互配合的形式规划;三是本科四年不断线,年年有提高的"与层次、水平的递进相同步"的时间规划(第一年"原理与分支",第二年"学派与历史",第三年"名著研读",第四年每一模块写一篇研究论文)。  相似文献
