大学英语阅读教学与英美文化

本文以英美文化为背景,着重说明了文化因素影响和制约着我们对语言的正确运用,理解以及交际的正常进行,从而说明,要从根本上提高阅读理解和语言运用的能力,在大学英语教学中,决不能忽视对英美文化认知能力的培养。     

对《SPWM变频调速应用技术》中关于恒压供水主体方案讨论的商榷

自动化新技术丛书《SPWM变频调速应用技术》(张延滨编著)是一本非常好的书,但书中关于恒压供水主体方案的讨论一节的观点有待商榷,本文对恒压供水主体方案的确定举例进行了分析,并提出恒压供水主体方案确定应考虑系统的运行方式,经综合比较分析最终确定合理的方案。     

讲授“五笔字型”汉字输入技术的几点体会

在我国相关岗位上的专业录入,五笔字型输入法以其重码率低、输入速度快等特点成为目前最为流行的汉字输入法。文章就如何学习五笔字型以及提高输入速度进行了探讨。     

宽带雷达中消除“盲速”的动显方法研究

动目标显示雷达中通常存在多普勒频率所引起的“盲速”现象,常采用参差脉冲重复频率的方法来克服这种不利影响。在宽带雷达中,也可采用一种通过雷达回波信号的瞬时位移来检测运动目标的非相干动目标显示方法,在完全克服“盲速”影响并简化系统设计的同时,亦能够实现对包括低速目标在内的不同速度目标的有效检测。该文分别对这两种杂波抑制方法进行了研究,最后得出了宽带高分辨雷达进行杂波抑制的有效实现方法。     

Index for Predicting Insurance Claims from Wind Storms with an Application in France

For insurance companies, wind storms represent a main source of volatility, leading to potentially huge aggregated claim amounts. In this article, we compare different constructions of a storm index allowing us to assess the economic impact of storms on an insurance portfolio by exploiting information from historical wind speed data. Contrary to historical insurance portfolio data, meteorological variables show fewer nonstationarities between years and are easily available with long observation records; hence, they represent a valuable source of additional information for insurers if the relation between observations of claims and wind speeds can be revealed. Since standard correlation measures between raw wind speeds and insurance claims are weak, a storm index focusing on high wind speeds can afford better information. A storm index approach has been applied to yearly aggregated claim amounts in Germany with promising results. Using historical meteorological and insurance data, we assess the consistency of the proposed index constructions with respect to various parameters and weights. Moreover, we are able to place the major insurance events since 1998 on a broader horizon beyond 40 years. Our approach provides a meteorological justification for calculating the return periods of extreme‐storm‐related insurance events whose magnitude has rarely been reached.     

大学英语教学中一个不容忽视的问题——阅读速度的培养

目前大学英语教学依然把阅读能力的培养摆在非常重要的位置,但作为阅读能力重要组成部分的阅读速度并没有得到足够的重视。笔者通过数据分析,阐述了培养阅读速度的重要性,并结合教学实践体会,分析了影响学生阅读速度的因素,最后提出了针对阅读速度训练 的建议。     

Testosterone is associated with age-related changes in bone health status,muscle strength and body composition in men

Objective: Variations in testosterone levels are associated with several outcomes of aging. The present study aimed to examine the relationship between age-related decline of testosterone levels and changes in bone health status, handgrip strength, body fat percentage and fat-free mass. Materials and methods: A total of 335 Malaysian Chinese and Malay men aged 40 years and above were recruited for this study. Their body compositions, calcaneal speed of sound and handgrip strength were measured and their blood was collected. Linear regression analysis was done to examine the relationship among age, testosterone levels and outcomes of aging. Results: The results indicated significant changes in all testosterone measurements, sex hormone binding globulin level, calcaneal speed of sound, handgrip strength, body fat percentage and fat-free mass with age (p < 0.05). Age-dependent decline in bioavailable and free testosterone levels were significantly associated with reduction in calcaneal speed of sound, fat-free mass and handgrip strength (p < 0.05). Age-dependent decline in the total testosterone level was significantly associated with an increase in body fat percentage among the elderly men (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Testosterone levels are associated with changes in outcome of aging such as bone health status, muscle strength and body composition, and the relationships are age-dependent.
