Disaggregating Data Using Related Series

Quarterly real GNP and implicit GNP deflator series are derived for the 1948–1970 period using the related series technique of Chow and Lin. These estimated series are compared with the official, revised series; to official, unrevised series; and to univariate proxies using regression, time series, and spectral methods. The derived series possess autocorrelation and turning point characteristics similar to those of the official, revised series. The derived series also deliver structural equation parameter estimates similar to those based on official, revised data.

Nations,National Cultures,and Natural Languages: A Contribution to the Sociology of Nations

This paper seeks to contribute to the sociology of nations, a literature that is only starting to carve out its place in the social sciences. The paper offers a reconceptualization of “nations” as “national cultures”, employing an evolutionary perspective and a systemic framework in which “nations” are understood as cultural systems of a special kind. National cultures are intimately tied to natural languages, and the acquisition of a national culture occurs as part and parcel of the acquisition of a natural language. Acquiring a natural language is a prerequisite for learning other cultural systems (artefactual languages as well as other natural languages). National cultures function as metacultures. They are also the reference cultures for modern states and their citizens, a political dimension of nations that is of paramount importance, though it will only be touched on in this paper. National cultures should be considered as the most fundamental type of cultural system today.

基于2003年社区矫正试点工作取得的较好成绩，我国开展了大规模的推广运动。截止2010年，全国已经有27个省市实行社区矫正的刑罚方式。就目前来看，社区矫正的现实运行遇到了一些问题，最关键的是社区力量没有真正发动起来，存在着上层政府热情推动和下层居民冷淡反映的反差现象。社区居民对矫正对象的不接纳成为影响社区矫正效果的最大原因。根据符号互动和标签理论，这有可能导致矫正对象的重新犯罪，进而为推广刑罚执行变更运动与和谐社会的建立带来了一定的阻碍。     

数字技术与网络传播背景下的广告生存形态

广告是一个动态发展的过程。广告生存形态伴随社会营销环境和传播环境的变化而不断发生变化。数字技术与网络传播已使广告的生存环境发生了诸多变化,＂应采用何种方式生存＂已成为当前广告发展面临的重大问题。我们认为,传统广告将继续存在并通过创新适应新的媒体环境;专业数据库生存将是网络传播时代广告的一种重要生存形态。     

二项抽样下随机化调查的比估计模型

在实际调查中，有一些已知的辅助信息，这些信息可以用来提高调查效率。但所利用的辅助信息是未知的，很少见。本文利用二项抽样的方法获得辅助信息，据此，研究了属性特征随机化调查使用辅助信息的比估计方法，设计了比估计模型，将比估计模型在理论上与Warner模型进行了比较，证明此比估计模型在一定条件下所得到的理论优于Warner模型。
