论现代小说时空

现实时空是表征着认识论意义上的时空关系。在此基础上提出的小说时空 ,其实质是作家借喻现实时空结构创造的本体论意义上的审美时空 ,二者有联系又相对独立。以时空观念为纽带 ,凭借一定的叙事手段 ,现代小说时空在历时演变中逐渐形成了倒错夸张、瞬间再现、零度消解三种基本模式。对小说时空的探索 ,有利于全面展现小说艺术的美学价值 ,开拓了小说审美批评的视界 ,具有独特的审美意义

An Optimal Confidence Region for the Largest and the Smallest Means from a Multivariate Normal Distribution

An optimal confidence region is proposed for obtaining the largest and the smallest means of a multivariate normal distribution with a common unknown variance and a non-negative correlation coefficient. The confidence region is compared to a class of asymmetric confidence regions, and the results show that it is uniformly better. Further, a design-oriented two-stage confidence region with a fixed width is also given. Finally, the optimal confidence region is applied to an experiment to measure the treatment effectiveness of a physical therapy with four independent groups and the result reveals that the proposed confidence region can provide some useful information.     

Kullback-Leibler divergence to evaluate posterior sensitivity to different priors for autoregressive time series models

In this paper we use the Kullback-Leibler divergence to measure the distance between the posteriors of the autoregressive (AR) model coefficients, aiming to evaluate mathematically the sensitivity of the coefficients posterior to different types of priors, i.e. Jeffreys’, g, and natural conjugate priors. In addition, we evaluate the impact of the posteriors distance in Bayesian estimates of mean and variance of the model coefficients by generating a large number of Monte Carlo simulations from the posteriors. Simulation study results show that the coefficients posterior is sensitive to prior distributions, and the posteriors distance has more influence on Bayesian estimates of variance than those of mean of the model coefficients. Same results are obtained from the application to real-world time series datasets.
