承接前人智慧 开释当代新义——读任火先生《汉字百味》

《汉字百味》属于议论杂文。该书从文化理性出发,借助"说文解字",多角度地展示了对社会的体认与感悟,揭示出一系列朴素而又深刻的人生哲理,可以为现代人净化心灵带来精神启迪。其中有三个问题具有现实意义:一是双向地、辩证地看待社会,看待人生,看待生命的全部流程;二是确立是非观念,勇于揭露、对抗、反击各种虚伪、丑陋和邪恶现象;三是关注灵性的修持和人格完善,寻找赖以安身立命的精神港湾。该书的立意不在于文字训诂,而在于以"字"说"人"与"事",说"是"与"非"。

Pedagogical and Policy Challenges in Implementing E-Learning in Social Work Education

SUMMARY

This paper provides a summary of the findings from in-depth interviews with thirty social work educators and administrators involved in developing and offering e-learning in their programs in Canada. Using qualitative data analysis, four interrelated categories were developed: Professional Challenges, Pedagogical Challenges, Faculty Challenges and Administrative Challenges. A large number of issues were identified in each of these categories. Six themes emerged from the study. These themes form a two-part framework for examining policy issues and implementation tasks. The findings have pedagogical and policy implications for social work educators who are implementing e-learning in their programs.     

Adjustment to Disability

Abstract

This article will focus on the biopsychosocial challenges encountered when an individual is disabled at an early age as well as when an individual acquires a disability later in life. Two case examples will focus on the adaptations/life choices that are necessary to adequately meet psycho/social/developmental needs and enhance individual self esteem. The case of Rita, a woman who lost her hearing at age two, highlights the importance of integrating a biopsychosocial approach to understand the multiple challenges and adaptations of individuals who are disabled at an early age. Laureen, a woman who acquired a spinal cord injury during her late teen years, described her struggles as a young adult adapting to a physical disability. Both cases highlight the importance of integrating an ecological/systems framework focusing on a biopsychosocial perspective, emphasizing the interrelationship between biological, psychological, social, technological, cultural and political factors.     

‘NOTHING POWERFUL LIKE WORDS SPOKEN’

This article examines the rhetorical techniques black British female rap artists appropriate and manipulate when they compose and perform their songs. To this end, this work probes how they explore female agency and respond to political, race, class and gender inequity in their compositions. In all, this discussion corrects the virtual absence of black British female rap emcees from transatlantic discourses by offering a close reading of the hip-hop narratives written and/or performed by Shystie, Tor Cesay, Speech Debelle and Ms. Dynamite.
