Corporate Governance and Democracy: The Stakeholder Debate Revisited

'Stakeholding' is a term laden with manymeanings. In this paper we attempt to put someorder on the discourse by confining attentionto the corporation. We assess the originsand the intellectual foundations of the 'shareholder versus stakeholder' debate. We askwhether and how 'stakeholding' might be a morelogical or rational system, a fairer or moredemocratic system, and one that provides betterperformative outcomes. Each of these claims isassessed in respect to the micro firmperspective and the macro economy-wideperspective.One of the most difficult and neglected areasin the stakeholding debate concerns thepracticalities of its implementation. The papertackles this issue directly, at both thedomestic and the international level. We asknot only how stakeholding might be sensiblyintroduces within a national context but alsowhat it means to discuss stakeholding inrespect to transnational enterprises.

跨国公司在华汽车营销模式是在移植母国营销模式的基础上,结合中国汽车营销现状发展起来的。文章从介绍我国汽车营销现状入手,分析了影响跨国公司在华选择汽车营销模式的因素,指出了目前跨国公司在华汽车营销的主要模式及其对我国汽车营销模式产生的影响,并对我国汽车营销的发展趋势提出了一些构想。     

Visions in monochrome: families, marriage and the individualization thesis

This paper takes issue with the way in which the individualization thesis--in which it is assumed that close relationships have become tenuous and fragile--has become so dominant in 'new' sociological theorizing about family life. Although others have criticized this thesis, in this paper the main criticism derives from empirical research findings carried out with members of transnational families living in Britain whose values and practices do not fit easily with ideas of individualization. It is argued that we need a much more complex and less linear notion of how families change across generations and in time.     

Mission Impossible? Defining Nongovernmental Organizations

This paper provides a synopsis of current interpretations of the term nongovernmental organization (NGO). Although NGOs have become recognized actors in international affairs, particularly over the last decade, it has not yet been clearly defined what the term NGO encompasses. It is argued that two major tracks of NGO interpretations can be distinguished: the juridical approach, and the sociological perspective. In juridical studies, the emphasis is placed on the legal status of NGOs in the national context and their implications for international law. Sociological works, instead, are based on studies of societal actors, and try to capture the term while examining more specifically the composition and functions of NGOs in the transnational arena. Acknowledging both tracks, the paper concludes with a comprehensive definition of the term NGO.     

关于我国资产管理公司若干问题的思考

我国现有的四家资产管理公司是为化解四大国有商业银行的巨额不良资产而成立的,但是它们运作的内在机制与外部环境都存在不少问题。目前,我们应采取信托方式解决其收购资金不足的问题,建立起各部利益主体的内在约束机制来杜绝道德风险的产生;为资产管理公司创造良好的法律环境及立法支持,并大力发展资本市场和中介机构,以保证资产管理公司的高效运作。     

21世纪我国如何面对经济全球化的思考

经济全球化是市场经济和科技发展的必然产物。它前所未有地推动了全球经济的大发展;同时也具有负面效应．甚至会带来灾难。它为发展中国家提供了发展的机遇也提出了严峻的挑战。２１世纪,我国唯一正确的选择是：积极参与经济全球化;正确认识、灵活运用经济全球化的“游戏规则”;加强与国外跨国公司的合作,加快发展我国的跨国经营。     

高层建筑设计中建筑师与结构师的协作

目前我国高层建筑设计过程中，在大部分时间内，建筑师和结构师之间都是独立进行的。 建筑师在决定建筑的结构型式上起着主导作用，从某种意义上说是决定性作用。因为结构师大部分都 是在建筑师提出建筑初步设计图纸后参与到设计中去，进而寻求结构上的解决方案。但是，随着建筑 设计的复杂化，无论单靠建筑师或结构师都不应该能决定建筑的型式，这需要建筑师和结构师之间进 行密切的合作。才能创作出真正优美、经济的建筑。     

Validation of the Career‐Related Parent Support Scale Among Chinese High School Students

The Career‐Related Parent Support Scale (CRPSS; Turner, Alliman‐Brissett, Lapan, Udipi, & Ergun, 2003 ) was translated and modified to form the 24‐item Chinese version of the scale. As in the case of the original CRPSS, the Chinese version includes 4 subscales (Instrumental Assistance, Emotional Support, Verbal Encouragement, and Career‐Related Modeling). The Chinese version of the CRPSS was validated in this study with a sample of Hong Kong high school students (N= 677). Reliability analyses showed that the total scale and subscales were internally consistent. The results of the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis suggested that the Chinese version of the CRPSS provided adequate indicators of Chinese adolescents’ perceptions of parent support for their career aspirations.
