This critical commentary assesses the consequences and impactof forms of seemingly widespread, constructive and altruisticservice user and carer participation (SUCP) within social work.In particular, and whilst drawing from Gramsci's understandingof hegemony and Levitas's critical interpretation of socialexclusion, it is proposed that SUCP serves the interests ofgovernment, affiliated organizations, including those withinsocial work and social care, and, perhaps more generally, thedisparate needs generated by the neo-liberal-inspired socialcare market. Arguably, there are also related substantive aspectsof SUCP that are problematic on ethical grounds—includingthe possibility that participation inadvertently increases socialinequalities by justifying and promoting hegemonic agendas.Some suggestions are briefly made regarding how to move SUCPforward, including difficult questions that must be asked aboutwhether or not SUCP can confront forms of structural disadvantageand oppression. 相似文献

This paper explores the complex interrelationship between serviceuser and professional social work discourses and provides acritical commentary on their respective contributions to therecent review of mental health policy and legislation in NorthernIreland. The analysis indicates that dominant trends in mentalhealth care, as mediated through service structures and institutionalidentities, have tended to prioritize the more coercive aspectsof the social work role and reinforce existing power inequalitieswith service users. It is argued that such developments underlinethe need for a re-focusing debate in mental healthsocial work to consider how a more appropriate balance can beachieved between its participatory/empowering and regulatory/coercivefunctions. Whilst highlighting both congruence and dissonancebetween respective discourses, the paper concludes that opportunitiesexist within the current change process for service users andsocial workers to build closer alliances in working togetherto reconstruct practice, safeguard human rights and developinnovative alternatives to a traditional bio-medical model oftreatment. 相似文献

We estimate the transmission probability for the human immunodeficiency virus from seroconversion data of a cohort of injecting drug users (IDUs) in Thailand. The transmission probability model developed accounts for interval censoring and incorporates each IDU's reported frequency of needle sharing and injecting acts. Using maximum likelihood methods, the per needle sharing act transmission probability estimate between infectious and susceptible IDUs is 0.008. The effects of covariates, disease dynamics, mismeasured exposure information and the uncertainty of the disease prevalence on the transmission probability estimate are considered. 相似文献

In addition to introducing markets and market‐like structures into public services, New Labour wished to promote the involvement of users and the public in decision‐making in other ways than as individual consumers. One way was to involve the public in the governance of organizations. This could be done by removing public services from state control, and transferring them to mutual ownership; or by increasing public involvement in the governance of public bodies. NHS foundation trusts (FTs) were presented as mutuals. Our study shows FTs are not mutuals, as they continue to be owned by the state. Moreover, staff of FTs were generally not engaging with the new governance structures. In general, there was mixed experience of the new structures enabling governors to increase accountability of the hospitals to the public. On the other hand, having a membership did enhance the legitimacy of FTs, as opposed to other NHS organizations. The findings of the study are of current interest as the coalition government is continuing with the policy of FTs, and also encouraging mutuals and other forms of public involvement. 相似文献

体验设计是一门融人类学、认知心理学和语言学等为一体的新型交叉学科。设计理应为用户提供合宜的体验已成为学界广泛的共识。然而,基于移情学的用户体验的设计在我国则鲜为人见。其实,体验的过程就是审美的过程,愉悦的体验甚至高峰体验正是审美中移情作用的结果。审美移情为体验设计开辟了新的途径,即移情设计,也对创造愉悦的用户体验起到积极的推动作用。 相似文献
