Abstract

This article describes how electronic resources have impacted the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries' binding operation and how the libraries have responded to the resulting challenges, including the need for updated collection development and preservation/conservation policies, a comprehensive bindery contract, and a fully functional in-house binding capability. The evaluation of the binding process must continue as libraries move from a predominantly print to a predominantly electronic environment. Librarians, scholars, and binders should work together to preserve and bind library collections that will be valuable to future generations.     

等号的历史与认知

小学生在学习中表现出对等号的认知困难，等号常被误用．在小学数学课堂教学中，追溯等号的历史，采取相应的教学策略，可以有效地促进小学生对于等号的认知．     

科学发展观视野中的高等学校发展对策研究

科学发展观是当前国家发展的基本方略,同时也是推进我国高校更好更快发展的根本指针。当前我国高校存在一些深层次的问题和矛盾,与科学发展的理念不相符合。因此,文章指出我国高校当前和今后一个时期的首要任务,就是坚持以科学发展观为指导,深刻分析高校科学发展的内涵及其精神实质,正确处理高校发展中的基本关系,解决好高校发展中出现的若干问题。     

Elderly Women Show Neither a Shortage of Strategies nor an Overreliance on Drugs in Handling Aging and in Dealing with Minor Health Problems

ABSTRACT

Women 65 years old and over make up the fastest growing population segment in North America. They are, particularly among the underprivileged, known to be heavy consumers of prescribed and over-the-counter drugs. The objective of this study was to identify the role of medication in underprivileged elderly women's strategies for aging well and dealing with minor health problems. A qualitative study was conducted among 40 women aged 65 to 75. Results show that elderly women seldom mention resorting to medication to “age well” although they report using this strategy to deal with minor health problems. Overall, the elderly women mentioned a wide range of strategies to cope with aging and minor health problems, which suggests that they are well equipped to face the challenges of aging.

城市品牌是城市极为宝贵的资源和发展要素 ,城市品牌的建设需要科学的理论和方法来指导。目前关于城市品牌的研究还处于起步阶段 ,尚未形成系统的理论体系。文章首先阐述了城市品牌及其相关概念 ,然后阐释了城市品牌的内涵、基本分类 ,将城市品牌和城市形象进行了对比 ,最后论述了塑造城市品牌的意义     

论跨国公司对华投资战略调整

"入世"后,随着我国投资环境的进一步改善,跨国公司对华投资呈现出一系列新特点,投资规模、投资方式、投资领域等都发生了一些新变化。本文就其变化的趋势以及可能对我国经济产生的影响进行了分析。这对在新形势下进一步改善投资环境,积极引进外资以促进我国经济健康稳定地发展有一定的现实意义。
