This article explores the changing nature of the discipline of Social Administration in the post‐1945 era. The vigorous challenge to Traditional Social Administration in the 1970s and 1980s did not lead, as some had feared, to the demise of the subject's applied, problem‐solving, ethos. Within the broader discipline of Social Policy, the Social Administration perspective adapted and evolved. Debates over the social performance of corporations have carried with them implicit evaluations of that performance. The apparent subjectivity and bias of these informal evaluations has led to the development of more formalized corporate social performance assessment methodologies — social audits. In this paper it is argued that these social audits are also influenced by subjectivity and bias considerations; and thru the case study of a social audit of a corporate safety program, the underlying value issues at the core of these influences are explored. The value implications of the various social audit methodologies in use are discussed; and several value sensitive stages/elements of social audit research and evaluation research in general are identified. Recommendations set forth for minimizing the negative consequences of value-influenced evaluations are a value-explicit evaluation approach, greater standardization of evaluation procedures, a dialectic evaluation approach, and better informed evaluation consumers. 相似文献

ABSTRACTObjective: Participation in recreational sport clubs on campus is a popular student activity nationwide. These sport-based organizations provide a host of benefits within recognized dimensions of health and wellness. Understanding participants’ motives for engaging in these types of activities can provide insight in design and delivery and enhance participant health. This study focuses on outcomes related to the social motivations for participation in a recreational sport swim club and their potential relationship to social health. Participants: Current members of recreational swimming clubs were contacted for participation in the study from March-April 2016. Methods: A Leisure Motivation Scale (LMS) survey was sent electronically to 196 collegiate swim clubs nationwide. Aggregate and multivariate analyses from 1011 responses were conducted to examine the social motivation and motivational differences of participants. Results: Social motivations emerged as the predominate motivational construct, indicating important implications for social health improvement through participation. Demographically, results indicated no statistically significant differences in social motivation factors based on participant gender, and statistically significant differences within participant race, university affiliation and practice frequency. Conclusions: Impacts of these findings are important for practitioners and participants when evaluating the potential these programs have to influence participant social health. 相似文献

Since implementation of The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987, restraint use in American nursing homes has reduced dramatically. The reduction in vest restraints has resulted in an increase in “least restrictive” devices such as waist restraints. Although this analysis of U.S. Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting Data Files found that waist devices pose the same potential risk for asphyxial death as vest restraints, few health professionals and consumers are aware of this outcome. Post-marketing device reporting needs better data quality and surveillance, which can certainly benefit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in their efforts to regulate and enforce standards of care that reduce deaths and injuries to vulnerable nursing home residents. 相似文献

福建省持续加重的人口老龄化趋势对城镇职工养老保险制度产生了影响。研究发现:在将来一段时期内,福建省城镇职工社会养老保险基金收入及支出都将呈现快速增长趋势,但支出会大于收入;社会养老保险基金在经过一段时期的平衡后,会出现一定缺口。可以在以下几个方面对城镇职工社会养老保险制度进行完善:扩大城镇职工社会养老保险制度的覆盖面;依法做好养老保险费的征缴工作;将城镇职工社会养老保险基金统筹级次提高到省级层面;推进养老保险基金信息管理系统建设等。 相似文献

明确专家的法律地位是专家参与科技行政决策的法治化的关键问题。在科技行政中,专家与科技行政决策机构之间形成行政合同和行政委托法律关系。行政合同是其中的基础。它明确了专家在科技行政中应该享有的权利和承担的义务。凭借此行政合同,专家接受科技行政决策机构的委托,处理具有专业性和技术性的行政事项,一旦决策失误,法律责任由科技行政机构承担,专家与行政相对人不发生法律关系,但科技行政机关可以追究专家的行政违约责任。 相似文献
