任务驱动教学模式在社会工作课程中的应用——以《人类行为与社会环境》课程为例

社会工作是一门应用性很强的学科,在社会工作课程中运用任务驱动教学模式,能有效调动学习者自主学习和合作学习的积极性。任务驱动教学模式包括设计任务、准备任务、交流和评价等环节。使用这种模式的过程中,要注意任务的可操作性、拓展性,学生的主体地位与教师的主导地位有效结合。     

A host shift from wild blue cohosh to cultivated potato by the phytophagous ladybird beetle, Epilachna yasutomii (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae)

Life history traits of the phytophagous ladybird beetle Epilachna yasutomii were compared between a nonpest population feeding on wild blue cohosh and a pest population feeding on cultivated solanaceous crops, mainly potato. Newly emerged adults of the nonpest population entered diapause early in midsummer when blue cohosh withered, while adults of the pest population were found in tomato and eggplant fields until late autumn. The pest population had larger females, a higher population growth rate, a shorter larval developmental period, and reduced longevity of overwintered females, compared with the nonpest population. ANOVA indicated that all these life history traits were influenced by the food plant, and that the number of eggs laid per female and the longevity of overwintered females were also affected by the population type. These findings suggest that the life history pattern of E. yasutomii changed to high fecundity with a short life span from low fecundity with a long life span as a result of the host shift from wild blue cohosh to cultivated solanaceous crops. 农民工的学习过程研究——基于北京城市建筑工人的调查

本文对农民打工前和打工中的学习过程进行了调查和分析,结果表明,正是学习促进了农民工人力资本的提升。而目前农民工的学习过程中还存在很多问题,尤其是缺乏有效的组织过程,学习效率不高。因此,各级政府应加强向农民工人力资本和社会资本的投资,以提高其学习的效率,实现农村劳动力的顺利转移。     

经学理学化的意义

经学的理学化促进了经学的转型和儒学的进一步发展,提高了中国哲学的理论思辨水平.理学对经学的改造基本上适应了中国社会发展的要求,具有一定的历史必然性,并确立了以儒为主、融合三教的学术发展模式.这对于促进儒家经学及中国学术思想的发展具有重要意义.     

项目教学法在加拿大英语教学中的运用

近年来,项目教学法在国内的外语教学界受到普遍关注,苏州大学还开展了“多媒体项目教学”改革实践以探索项目教学法的理论与实践。为了让中国的外语教师对此有直观的认识,本文着重分析加拿大项目教学课堂的片段观察,反映项目教学法如何推动学生语言发展和促进学生自主学习能力的发展。     

Adult Children of Same-Sex and Heterosexual Couples: Demographic “Thriving”

ABSTRACT

Prior research comparing children of same-sex and heterosexual couples is limited by methodological issues such as not including male same-sex couples and not using appropriate comparison groups of heterosexual parents. The current study addresses these limitations by examining differences in demographic characteristics between adult children of female same-sex couples, male same-sex couples, and heterosexual couples (recruited from siblings), using data reported by adult children's parents drawn from a matched longitudinal cohort. Demographic variables include employment, education, religion, and familial status. Results reveal few differences between adult children of same-sex couples and those of heterosexual couples, and no differences between children of female-female couples and male-male couples.     

Caregiving for the Elderly Person: Discourses Embedded in the Brazilian Practical Guide for the Caregiver

It is estimated that in 2025, Brazil will have the sixth largest elderly population in the world. Beyond the economic consequences of this projection, this changing demographic portends significant changes in the social realm. The aim of this study was to review and consider a range of government documents, developed during the past thirty years and directed toward elderly Brazilian citizens, to explore the ways that caregivers of older persons are positioned in daily care practices through the discourses such documents deploy. The analysis draws on Foucault’s genealogical approach, and begins with a review of the historicity of policies, regulations, and legislation related to older people, followed by an analysis of the discourses embedded in the Practical Guide for the Caregiver, a document created by the Brazilian Ministry of Health to provide guidance to informal caregivers in the actual provision of care to elders. The analysis shows that throughout the Guide, caregivers are portrayed as multifaceted subjects; yet at the same time, three primary positionings for the caregiver and her or his work are emphasized: the almost-angel, the almost-healthcare professional, and the almost-household professional.     

Learning and Bayesian updating in long cycle made-to-order (MTO) production

We model production planning for made-to-order (MTO) manufacturing by choosing production rate to minimize expected discounted cost incurred up to a promised delivery date. Products that are MTO are often unique and customized. The associated learning curve slope and other production parameters cannot be precisely estimated before production starts. In this paper, a dynamic and adaptive approach to estimate the effects of learning and to optimize next period production is developed. This approach offers a closed-loop solution through stochastic dynamic programming. Monthly production data are used to update the joint probability distributions of production parameters via Bayesian methods. Our approach is illustrated using historical earned-value data from the Black Hawk Helicopter Program. Managerial insights are obtained and discussed.     

Quilting as a generative activity: Studying those who make quilts for wounded service members

A qualitative study of 24 quilters examined their experiences creating and delivering quilts to wounded service members who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Using Erikson’s (1963) perspective on generativity and Baumeister and Vohs’s (2002) theory of motivation as theoretical frameworks, along with McCracken’s (1988) five-step analysis model, we looked at the part motivation played in this process. The results were that respondents wanted to supply quilts in response to their own family histories of military involvement, to support friends/acquaintances with family in the military, and to make a difference to those who seemed young and badly wounded. Some respondents described being affected by the reactions of quilt recipients and of healing from their own traumas and grief.
