Technology and School Social Work Services: Introducing Technology in an Alternative School

SUMMARY

The public school system, one of the largest human service institutions in our nation, is continuously engaged in a struggle to balance the needs of a growing and diverse population with continuing threats of budget cuts. Under these conditions, it becomes even more critical that school social workers understand and appreciate the role of technology in delivering and evaluating services. To assess the effectiveness of school social work services, evaluation will have to be planned for, and systems of data collection and processing will have to be conducted on an ongoing basis.

This paper outlines the process whereby school social workers in a local school district proceeded to introduce technology into their service delivery regimen. Secondly, the paper shows how such technology was, and may be, used to evaluate the services provided by school social workers in an alternative school.     

Labor Supply by Farm Operators Under “Decoupled” Farm Program Payments

As part of 1996 legislation, the U.S. began paying farmers production flexibility contract payments designed to be somewhat decoupled from current production decisions. In the labor-leisure model, decoupled payments would be expected to only have a wealth effect, but coupled payments would be expected to have both a substitution and a wealth effect. In this paper, the impacts of the decoupled payments and other government payments on both farm and off-farm labor allocations for farm operators are considered using data from the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS). Results indicate that government payments tend to increase the hours operators work on their farm and decrease the hours they work off the farm. This is true whether the payments come from programs which tie payments to current year production, or not.JEL Classification: D13, J22, Q12, Q22The authors are agricultural economists with the Economic Research Service (USDA). 新中国成立50多年来,特别是改革开放和实施西部大开发战略以来,贵州民族教育取得了巨大成就, 初步形成了从学前教育到高等教育在内的民族教育体系,为提高我省少数民族的科学文化素质、促进 少数民族地区经济发展和社会进步、加强民族团结、保持民族地区社会稳定做出了重大贡献。但由于 历史、社会、自然条件,特别是经济发展水平等多种原因,我省民族教育还面临着一些特殊的困难和问 题。为落实中央民族工作会议和全国第五次民族教育工作会议精神,深化改革,加快发展我省民族教 育,我们承担了国家社会科学基金全国教育科学“十五”规划民族教育方面唯一重点课题“西部大开发 与中国少数民族教育改革和发展研究”子课题之一的《西部大开发与贵州少数民族教育改革和发展研 究》,并提出了我们的总体研究思路和设计方案。     

长江流域住区的形成与发展

长江流域住区的形成与发展经历了漫长的演变过程,大体可分为三个阶段:(1)上古时代的巢居与穴居阶段。此时的居住方式基本上是流动的,故有所谓"行国"之说。(2)起始于新石器时代而传承不息的乡村聚落阶段。遍布长江两岸大江南北的乡村聚落,具有"寄情山水,亲近自然"的特点。(3)起自奴隶社会而不断发展的城市住区阶段。城市是文明人类的自然生息地,长江流域城市起源早、发展快,近代以来城市数量已占全国城市总数的40%以上。     

毛泽东、邓小平解决台湾问题构想之比较

台湾是中国领土不可分割的一部分 ,解决台湾问题是中国人民内部的事情。解决台湾问题有两种方式 ,即武力与和平的方式。毛泽东和邓小平都提出了武力与和平相结合的方式来解决台湾问题的战略构想。但由于他们各自所处的时代背景不同 ,因此各有不同的侧重点。邓小平继承毛泽东“一国两制”的思想 ,明确提出了“一国两制”是解决台湾问题最佳途径的战略思想。     

论WTO争端解决制度中的举证责任

结合WTO的有关案例 ,对争端解决机制中的举证责任问题进行了分析和研究。通过这些分析 ,明确了“确立初步案件”的概念 ,在不同案件中的举证责任如何确定问题上提出了作者的观点。最后 ,针对我国在争端解决程序中如何运用有关原则来维护合法的权益提出几点建议。     

随机网络瓶颈容量扩张相关机会规划模型

文章研究的问题为,在不确定环境中,怎样去增加网络中一组边的容量到一个指定的容量,以至于网络瓶颈扩张的费用不超过给定的总费用上限的概率尽可能的大.本文假定每一条边的单位扩张费用Wi是一个随机的变量,它服从一定的概率分布.带有随机单位扩张费用W的网络瓶颈容量扩张问题可以根据一些规则,列出它的相关机会规划模型的通用表达式.随后,本文将网络瓶颈容量算法、随机模拟方法和遗传算法合成在一起,设计出该问题的混合智能通用算法.最后,给出数值算例.     

少数民族预科人才培养模式研究与实践

为加快少数民族地区人才培养,我国一些高校开展了少数民族预科教育。作为国家的一项民族政策,少数民族预科教育应提高人才培养质量,为民族地区的教育和经济发展做出更大的贡献。本文章结合本校民族预科教育的特点和预科学生的实际情况,对少数民族预科人才培养模式谈自己的几点见解。     

Predictors of Quality of Life in Different Age Groups Across Adulthood

This study examines the Quality of Life (QOL) of 374 individuals from a generational perspective. Using a nonexperimental design and multiple regression analyses, the results indicated that social support is the highest preditor of QOL for all generations. As for specific generational groups, in addition to social support, income was observed as a QOL predictor for young adults; marital status was a significant predictor for the middle-aged adults, and income emerged as the important predictor for older adults. These results offer valuable insights for the planning and implementation of Intergenerational Education Programs with the aim of increasing QOL across adulthood.
