口译中中西文化冲突的沟通和处理

由于中西文化存在很大的差异,对于口译员来说,除了掌握译出语语言表层次的信息外,更要掌握译出语语言深层次的文化内涵。在口译过程中,若不恰当处理文化冲突,就会产生误解,导致交际中止。因此,口译员应不断扩大中西方文化的知识面,在实践中提高对中西方文化冲突的沟通和处理能力。

Disability Culture and Cultural Competency in Social Work

Despite recognition of the importance of cultural and social diversity in social work education and practice there is a dearth of social work literature related to disability culture. A review of disability studies literature indicates that the disabled people's movement already affirms and celebrates the existence of disability culture as characterized by several agreed upon assumptions: disability culture is cross-cultural; it emerged out of a disability arts movement and its positive portrayal of disabled people; it is not just a shared experience of oppression but includes art, humour, history, evolving language and beliefs, values and strategies for surviving and thriving. Essentialist concepts of culture, as represented in assimilationist and pluralist social work approaches, provide social workers with the false belief that there are cultural competencies that one can develop that are sufficient to become more culturally sensitive. However, analysis of the critical theory underpinning disability culture demonstrates that an understanding of cultural politics is fundamental to social work education if it is to support the work of the disabled people's movement in demystifying and deconstructing the norms, discourses and practices of dominant culture which are represented as neutral and universal.

冯积岐属于实力派作家，20多年来勤奋笔耕，发表了中短篇小说200余篇，出版长篇小说6部，其中《村子》深受评论家与读者喜爱，于2010年获得陕西省“双五文学奖”和第二届柳青文学奖；冯积岐又属于非主流作家，他有自己独立的创作追求和见解，很值得文坛关注。     

Gender roles and romantic relationships: new cultural values based on the desire for a utopia

New technology is often believed to lead to a utopia in which people can escape social constraints and traditional cultural values to (re)construct alternative gender roles in forming romantic relationships. If this utopia could be created in real life, women who live in a masculine culture might be able to transform traditional patriarchal culture. In this study, social exchange theory (SET) is adopted and interpretive research is applied to analyze the data collected through in-depth interviews to examine the utopian vision of an empowering online dating game for women, which reverses the traditional Taiwanese gender roles that men adopt in real life when they court women. Forty participants were involved in the study. The results indicated that pre-formulated offline gender roles and cultural values governed most participants’ online social exchanges and interactions, although a few participants changed and transferred their behaviors from online (i.e. utopia) to offline (i.e. real life) contexts. The findings of this study suggest that the function of any utopian vision rests on hope and the desire for a better future by inspiring creativity, innovation, and change in the present.     

Using formative research to tailor a community intervention focused on the prevention of chronic disease

This case study attempts to illustrate and address in-depth the issues surrounding the collection, analysis, and application of formative research findings to program development and implementation. We provide an in-depth case study of tailoring a program for the residents of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The formative research process includes collection and analysis of secondary data sources, extensive in-person interviews with community leaders, and in-depth focus groups with members of the population of interest. Findings from the formative research are then applied to tailoring the program materials and presentations and the training of the integrative team of health professionals that offer the program. Distinct components of program are tailored to the realities of the social, cultural, historical, and health and medical contexts in each community while other components of the program are tailored to individual participants. Overall, we believe this case study fully illustrates the utility of formative research in tailoring evidenced-based programs to increase program relevance and positive outcomes while maintaining fidelity to a program’s learning objectives and evaluation. We hope this in-depth account with specific examples proves useful as a guide to others when designing and conducting formative research to tailor health and medical interventions to the audience.     

An assessment of the performance of Italian public historical archives: Preservation vs utilisation

Economists have paid an increasing attention to the estimation of efficiency in the public sector. Archives constitute an exception notwithstanding their cultural and historical relevance. This paper is, to the best of our knowledge, the first attempt to fill this lacuna. The analysis of the performance of archives raises theoretical issues because their outputs have characteristics of a pure public good (preservation) and of a private service (utilisation). Moreover, the trade-off between the long and short-run goals of, respectively, preservation and utilisation is central in most public policies concerning heritage. We address this issue by studying the efficiency of public historical archives (PHAs) in Italy, over the period 2011–2012. We use Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and implement one-stage and two-stage approaches to investigate PHAs’ performance in the management of their different and potentially conflicting functions. Our analysis shows that PHAs perform better in the preservation function, considering the objectives and constraints they face.     

高校博物教育与校园生态文化建设的融合路径

博物学是一门与自然界密切相关的综合学科,主张人与自然和谐共生,对于唤醒公民生态文明意识、推动生态文明建设发挥着极其重要的作用。高校校园生态文化建设理应嵌入博物教育,以塑造大学生的自然观、生活观和生态观,实现校园生态文化的良好塑造。高校博物教育与校园生态文化建设的融合路径包括:建立博物社团,引领校园生态文化;强化知行合一,生成校园生态风尚;注重协同教育,生成生态教育合力。     

语境文化差异的应用研究

个体间的交流方式深受文化影响,人类学家霍尔根据个体对于语境的依赖程度将语境文化分为高语境文化和低语境文化,这两种文化在责任分配、冲突解决、交流沟通等方面都存在着显著差异。研究显示,造成这种差异的原因主要有历史和宗教两个方面。由于这种差异的存在,产生了许多相关方面的应用,其中在设计、谈判策略两个方面应用最为广泛。
