Using sibling data to understand the impact of family group decision-making on child welfare outcomes

Few studies have examined the impact of family group decision-making (FGDM) on child welfare outcomes. Studies in this area have often suffered from small sample sizes and lack of adequate comparison groups. Since FGDM is administered at the family level, sibling data provides an ideal way to compensate for small sample sizes and low enrollment rates in research evaluating FGDM. This study utilized sibling data from California's Title IV-E Waiver Demonstration Project Evaluation in Fresno and Riverside Counties to compare child welfare outcomes for children of families randomly assigned to receive FGDM (Fresno County, n = 110; Riverside County, n = 87) to children of families assigned to receive traditional child welfare services (Fresno County, n = 74; Riverside County, n = 52). After controlling for clustering effects using general estimating equations (GEE), group differences in child maltreatment, placement stability, and permanence were modeled using linear and logistic regression. Outcomes from both counties suggested no group differences. Though neutral outcomes on child welfare indicators may bring into question FGDM's efficacy for changing child welfare outcomes, this study confirms previous findings with smaller sample sizes on the impact of FGDM and demonstrates a methodological improvement over individual or family-case analyses.

Crime and the city: Domestic burglary and the built environment in Tehran

Environmental criminologists have correlated crime patterns with the environmental and physical layout of places where crimes occur. This paper reports on some of the findings derived from a major research carried out in Tehran, focusing on the link between built environment and residential burglary. After a brief review of crime prevention approaches in the built environment and their theoretical basis, the paper examines how burglars select their targets, and investigates the significance of geographical distance and target hardening for crime prevention. It shows the limitations of distance and target hardening as deterrents, their potential impact on deepening the city's socio-spatial divide, and their negative implications for the quality of the urban environment.     

基于数据仓库的大学生诚信评估系统设计

结合金融系统广泛采用的FICO个人信用评估思想,提出了大学生诚信评价的加减分模型,构建了大学生诚信评估系统(CESS)指标体系及其数据仓库,实现了诚信数据校内整合与共享,并分别以ASP和VB.NET为工具开发了Web及C/S两种风格的CESS系统,介绍了系统结构与功能设计,讨论了包括直接利用Analysis Services多维分析工具实现的丰富的信用查询与统计方式,通过实际数据测试表明,CESS系统能够较好地满足高校需要.     

社会资本及资本空间完备性

从经济学的角度对社会资本进行了研究,提出了三维资本空间的完备性观点。通过社会资本概念的引入,诠释了存在于物质资本和人力资本之外的、给社会和个人带来效用的、用物质资本和人力资本无法解释的那部分资本,使资本空间得以完备。通过对物质资本、人力资本和社会资本三者之间相互转化途径的分析,建立了社会资本的线性数学模型,并进一步阐明了社会资本的投资问题。

本文从我国行政刑法的立法冲突与司法冲突讲起,深入分析了冲突原因,并提出了以专门立法为主干、兼顾编纂,与传统刑法相分离、兼收并蓄的内外两套整合方案,最终提出了人身自由罚司法化和整个行政罚司法化的两种不同主张与追求。
