Problem and background
In an earlier research project midwives were asked to perform women-centered care focusing on the assumption that the physiological process in the second stage of labour could be trusted and that the midwives role should be encouraging and supportive rather than instructing. There is no knowledge about how midwives participating in such a research project, uses their skills and experience from the study in their daily work.Aim
The aim in this study was to investigate how midwives experienced implementing woman-centered care during second stage of labour. Methods
A qualitative study was designed. Three focus groups and two interviews were conducted. The material was analysed using content analysis.Findings
The participating midwives’ experiences were understood as increased awareness of their role as midwives. The overarching theme covers three categories 1) establishing a new way of working, 2) developing as midwife, 3) being affected by the prevailing culture. The intervention was experienced as an opportunity to reflect and strengthen their professional role, and made the midwives see the women and the birth in a new perspective. Conclusions
Implementing woman-centered care during second stage of labour gave the midwives an opportunity to develop in their professional role, and to enhance their confidence in the birthing women and her ability to have a physiological birth. To promote participation in, as well as conduct midwifery research, can enhance the development of the midwives professional role as well as contribute new knowledge to the field.

Because social workers are likely to have a more expanded role within organized psychoanalysis than previously, it seems timely
to consider the numerous challenges and opportunities ahead with respect to social workers’ impact on the practice of psychoanalysis.
For those who become social work psychoanalysts, in particular, a pivotal issue is the degree to which they retain their core
identity as clinical social workers. It is important for them to integrate and balance the diverse aspects of their dual identity,
to participate in our social work organizations, to contribute to developing psychoanalysis, and to work to keep the teaching
of contemporary psychoanalytic theories alive in social work education.

The national continuing professional development (CPD) program of the Australian College of Midwives, MidPLUS, was officially launched in September 2007. In our role as program developers we were dedicated to the belief that this national CPD program would be an important step for Australian midwives, and contribute to demonstrating a commitment to providing safe and effective care for Australian women and families. This paper outlines key issues involved in providing CPD programs for professional groups and highlights how this information was used in the decision making behind the design of MidPLUS. The key operational elements of CPD programs included program design, program administration and related professional issues. Important features and functions of the MidPLUS program are highlighted and justification is given for our overall design. This information may assist midwives who are considering using the MidPLUS program and are asking the question: CPD-what does it mean for me?

Despite a vast literature examining networks in labor markets, it remains unclear how employers differ in their use of networks during recruitment. This study examines network hiring among high and low reputation organizations in Dutch professional football. Within-employer within-transfer window fixed effects conditional logistic regression models demonstrate that networks increase the likelihood that low reputation employers hire workers, but no network effect was found among high reputation employers. Qualitative interviews with employees suggest that low reputation employers identify their search pool and gather hard-to-observe information about potential hires through networks, while high reputation employers do not rely on networks for their search pool and gather information through observing workers for prolonged periods of time 相似文献

Problem/BackgroundPerinatal death has far reaching emotional effects for all involved in this devastating event. The opportunity for learning as a result of this catastrophe, however, remains unexplored.AimTo explore midwives’ experiences of caring through, and learning from, perinatal death, to better inform the effective planning and delivery of education that optimises both midwifery and self-care.MethodsA naturalistic interpretive multiple case study design. Seventeen midwives, located in Australia, participated in an online group activity hosted as a blog, followed by telephonic focus groups and in-depth email interviews.FindingsThematic data analysis revealed seven major themes: Grappling with the reality of perinatal death; Struggling with personal and professional heartache; Seeking the space to grieve as a professional; Being with the woman and her family; Finding a new purpose; Strengthened through support; and Developing the courage to care.DiscussionThe initial turmoil and impact of loss reflected the catastrophic nature of perinatal death. Midwives uncovered a journey to acceptance and learning, realising a determination to enhance expertise and discovering value in experiential knowledge. Insecurity regarding competence and confidence to manage perinatal death and bereavement care was highlighted. However, sharing their stories revealed professional fulfilment, personal strength, and solidarity amongst midwives who have endured similar experiences.ConclusionA coordinated approach to support and the dissemination of experiential knowledge and learning could be developed within an online model of narrative sharing and discussion. Debriefing, support and sharing of expertise in this way may foster engagement within and beyond the workplace.
