Objective: Since no Lithuanian instrument focuses specifically on the measurement of pathological gambling in adolescence, we aimed
to adapt commonly used international instruments (SOGS-RA, DSM-IV-MR-J) and assess their psychometric properties. Methods: Cross-cultural adaptation of DSM-IV-MR-J and SOGS-RA was performed in several steps including translations, synthesis of
translations, back-translations, expert committee review, and pre-testing. Adapted instruments were administered to randomly
selected adolescents in grades V through XII from all schools in the second largest Lithuanian city (Kaunas). Results: The DSM-IV-MR-J identified 4.2% of the representative sample as pathological gamblers, whereas the SOGS-RA generated prevalence
of 5.2%. Cronbach’s alpha for DSM-IV-MR-J in this sample was 0.80 and 0.75 for the SOGS-RA. The correlation coefficient between
the SOGS-RA and the DSM-IV-MR-J was statistically significant (Pearson correlation = 0.892, P < 0.001). Using the DSM-IV-MR-J as the baseline for pathological gambling in adolescence, the overall classification accuracy
of the SOGS-RA was judged to be adequate, correctly identifying 34 out of 35 pathological gamblers (Kappa = 0.833, P < 0.001). Conclusions: The Lithuanian versions of DSM-IV-MR-J and SOGS-RA exhibited acceptable validity and reliability. The DSM-IV-MR-J was found
to be a more conservative measure of pathological gambling. 相似文献

The Japanese version of the Effort-Reward Imbalance Questionnaire: a study in dental technicians 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4

To test the psychometric properties and criterion validity of the Japanese version of the EffortReward Imbalance (ERI) Questionnaire (Siegrist, 1996), a survey was conducted among 105 male dental technicians. The Japanese version of the questionnaire was developed through a backtranslation process. Internal consistency and factorial structure were tested and the criterion validity with respect to musculoskeletal symptoms was estimated with the help of a correlation matrix and logistic regression analysis. In psychometric terms, the factorial structure of the scales measuring the components of the theoretical concept was replicated satisfactorily, and internal consistencies of the scales measuring the extrinsic and intrinsic components of the model were appropriate. Significant associations between components of the ERI and musculoskeletal symptoms were found. Logistic regression analysis revealed a significantly elevated risk of musculoskeletal symptoms in participants scoring high on the scale measuring the model's intrinsic component, 'overcommitment'. This study indicates that, at least for the occupational group under study, the Japanese version of the ERI Questionnaire is a feasible and psychometrically well justified new measure for assessing psychosocial stress at work with relevance to health. 相似文献

This project incorporates two steps. First, the psychometric model of risk perception is evaluated for its validity under field conditions. Second, individuals are classified as risk amplifiers or attenuators and the characteristics of those groups are explored. Survey data from an ongoing case study is employed in the analysis. The case study involves a Midwestern community in which a controversy exists over the possibility of the existence of a cancer cluster caused by the operation of a small reactor. Results show that the psychometric model of risk perception, while failing to be reproduced precisely, does has utility under the field conditions in this study. Use of the psychometric model to classify individuals as risk amplifiers or risk attenuators produces a useful dichotomy that reveals differences between the two polar groups in terms of demographics, satisfaction with institutional response to the risk, concern over individual and social levels of risk, and the evaluation of various communication channels as having been useful in coming to a judgment about the risk. A final model comparing the two groups suggests that, in this case, evaluation of personal risk and satisfaction with institutional response are important determinants of individual's risk reactions. Subordinate to these forces are the demographic variables of education, gender, and years of residence in the community. The model also illustrates that aggregate-level observations may not be representative of subgroups. 相似文献

This paper reports on the development and psychometric properties of a Gambling Refusal Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (GRSEQ).
Two hundred and ninety-seven gamblers from both normal and clinical populations completed an initial set of 31-items of which
26 were selected for inclusion in the final version of the GRSEQ. A series of factor analyses showed four clear factors accounting
for 84% of the variance. These factors can be summarised as situations and thoughts associated with gambling, the influence
of drugs on gambling, positive emotions associated with gambling and negative emotions associated with gambling. The GRSEQ
total score and factors scores showed high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha ranging from 0.92 to 0.98). Participants
experiencing problems with gambling scored significantly lower on the GRSEQ, and discriminant analyses showed that the scale
is able to correctly classify the non-problem (i.e., community and student samples) and problem gamblers (i.e., clinical sample).
Furthermore, the GRSEQ showed significant negative relationships with other gambling-related variables (gambling urge and
gambling-related cognitions) and negative mood states (depression, anxiety and stress) and was shown to be sensitive to change
in treatment of pathological gambling. The results suggest that the GRSEQ is a useful measure of gambling refusal self-efficacy
that is suitable for assessment of gamblers from both normal and clinical populations. 相似文献

Measurement of the subjective work environment 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
This paper considers the various issues that frame the development and use of measures of the subjective work environment. It begins by questioning the role of the work environment in determining occupational health, and explores the possible mechanisms by which that environment might exert its influence. It concludes that one of the important final common pathways is psycho-physiological in nature, and is rooted in individual perception and cognition and the experience of stress. Important for this model are the concepts of mediation and moderation. The measurement of the subjective work environment has often been idiosyncratic to the study in hand, and there are few well-established measures in common use. It is argued that researchers should be careful when deciding not to use established measures and effectively 'invent' their own. In developing new measures, decisions have to be made concerning the nature of the measure along with its 'granularity' and complexity. It is also argued that it is important that researchers should follow good psychometric practice in the development of those measures. Suggestions for 'good practice' are discussed. Attention is drawn to the issues of reliability and validity, and this paper discusses the role of triangulation in the planning and execution of data collection and analysis. The paper ends by reviewing the recommendations made towards the development and use of measures of the subjective work environment. 相似文献

BackgroundHolistic reflection encompasses reflection as a continuum, incorporating critical reflection, reflexivity, critical thinking and a whole-of-person approach. The development of holistic reflection in midwifery students and midwives is rarely measured in a standardised way.AimTo develop and test a tool to measure holistic reflection in midwifery students and midwives, for use in pre-registration and post-graduate education, and research.DesignThe eight-step approach to tool development by DeVellis was followed with psychometric testing of data from a cross-sectional survey.ParticipantsMidwifery students (pre-registration and postgraduate), and midwifery alumni of an Australian university.MethodsDraft items (n = 84) were generated from review of the literature, qualitative research, and a theoretical model. An expert panel (n = 19) reviewed draft items resulting in 39 items. The survey included demographic details, the draft Holistic Reflection Assessment Tool, emotional intelligence subscale, and a social desirability scale. Participants repeated the online survey at two weeks to confirm test-retest reliability.ResultsThe 187 responses were received. Exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation revealed three factors accounting for 49% of variance. Internal consistency of the tool was high (α = .91) and test-retest reliability at two weeks (α = .93) demonstrated stability. There were low correlations between social desirability (r = .22, p < .001) and emotional intelligence (r = .21, p < .001) with the new holistic reflection scale.ConclusionsThe Holistic Reflection Assessment Tool is the first for midwifery. The tool was reliable, stable, and valid. Further research is warranted for criterion validity. 相似文献
