First is Dixon's while the second is based on the ratio of the sum of the observations suspected to be outliers to the sum of all observations of the sample. Two important wood properties are stiffness (modulus of elasticity or MOE) and bending strength (modulus of rupture or MOR). In the past, MOE has often been modeled as a Gaussian and MOR as a lognormal or a two or three parameter Weibull. It is well known that MOE and MOR are positively correlated. To model the simultaneous behavior of MOE and MOR for the purposes of wood system reliability calculations, we introduce a bivariate Gaussian–Weibull distribution and the associated pseudo-truncated Weibull. We use asymptotically efficient likelihood methods to obtain an estimator of the parameter vector of the bivariate Gaussian–Weibull, and then obtain the asymptotic distribution of this estimator.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Phased-mission systems (PMS) can be widely found in a lot of practical application areas. Reliability evaluations and analysis for this kind of systems become important issues. The reliability of PMS is typically defined as the probability that the system successfully accomplishes the missions of all phases. However, the k-out-of-n system success criterion for PMS has not been investigated. In this paper, according to this criterion, we develop two new models, which are static and dynamic, respectively. The assumptions for these two models are described in detail as well. The system reliabilities for both models are presented for the first time by employing finite Markov chain imbedding approach (FMCIA). In terms of FMCIA, we define different state spaces for the two models, and transition probability matrices are obtained. Then some numerical examples are given to illustrate the application of FMCIA. Finally, some discussions are made and conclusions are summarized.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

By considering an absolutely continuous location-scale multivariate exponential model (Weier and Basu, 1980), we obtain minimum risk equivariant estimator(s) of the parameter(s). Given a location-scale multivariate exponential random vector, it is shown that the normalized spacings associated with the random vector are independent standard exponential. The distribution of the complete sufficient statistic is derived. We derive the performance measures of standby, parallel, and series systems and also obtain the minimum risk equivariant estimator of the mean time before failure of the three systems. Some of the results of this article are extensions of those of Chandrasekar and Sajesh (2010).  相似文献

University of Florida, Gainesville, FL . [Google Scholar]) defined a new entropy which measures the distance between a prescribed and an empirical survival function. In this article, we use this measure called Differential Cumulative Entropy (DCE) for Weibull parameters estimation. We show that the DCE method provides biased estimations of the Weibull modulus, but utilizing unbiasing factors derived here we enhance the results. A simulation study shows the higher performance of the new method over commonly used maximum likelihood and linear regression methods in Weibull parameters estimation especially in small sample sizes.  相似文献

We propose a procedure for estimating the parameters of the Mittag-Leffler (ML) and the generalized Mittag-Leffler (GML) distributions. The algorithm is less restrictive, computationally simple, and necessary to make these models usable in practice. The computation of the renewal function when the distribution function is completely known has received much attention in the literature. However, in many cases the form of the distribution function is unknown and has to be estimated nonparametrically. A nonparametric estimator for the renewal function for complete data was suggested by Frees (1986). In many cases, however, censoring of the lifetime might occur. We shall present parametric and nonparametric estimators of the renewal function based on censored data. In a simulation study we compare the nonparametric estimators with parametric estimators for the Weibull and lognormal distribution. The study suggests that the nonparametric estimator is a viable alternative to the parametric estimators when the lifetime distribution is unknown. Also, the nonparametric estimator is computationally simpler than the parametric estimator.  相似文献

In this article large sample pooling procedures for reliability functions of an exponential life testing model is considered. Asymptotic properties of shrinkage estimation procedure subsequent to preliminary tests are developed. It is shown that the proposed estimator possesses substantially snakker asymptotic mean squared error than the usual estimator in a region of the lparameter space. Relative efficiencies of the purposed estimators to the usual estimators are obtained and recommendations of the level of the preliminary tests are provided. Relative dominance picture of the estimators is presented. It is shown that the proposed estimator provides a wider dominance range over usual estimator than the usual preliminary test estimator. More importantly, the size of the preliminary test is meaningful. Simulation studies is also carried out to appraise the performance of the estimators when samples are small.  相似文献
