Parents and grandparents of deaf children in Ecuador: concerns and expectations

Despite a growing number of anthropological studies of deaf communities, little attention has been paid to how socioeconomic and cultural factors influence the experiences and the concerns of hearing parents of deaf and hearing-impaired (DHI) children. This study draws on interviews with parents (and some grandparents) of DHI children in Ecuador, a country marked by profound inequality but also by considerable recent progress in poverty reduction and enhanced provisions for people with disabilities. Despite progress, many carers are nevertheless critical of the way in which new measures have been implemented, and of the schooling available to their child. They are also worried by their child’s vulnerability, the likelihood of discrimination, and the possibility of abuse.     

基于共同知识考察的信任问题

针对中国市场化进程中保持高速经济增长的同时,存在着较为普遍的信任缺失。运用制度内生演化的分析框架描述信任问题的共同知识基础,分别考察熟人交易和匿名交易两种场景下,个体间交往方式所引致的偏好关系、认知状态和行为反应,揭示不确定性条件下某些信息或知识不完备是出现消费公众受到严重损害事件的主要原因。分析认为:在面临稀缺资源配置等行为信号时,个体之间尚未形成与现代市场经济体制相适应的交往方式来加以应对;通过畅通信息交流渠道等方法促使个体形成并维系与他人合作的稳定预期,可以与实现较好的经济结果一道建立起相互信任。     

Who is the better applicant? Effects from gender, academic record, and type of decision

This experiment recreates several features of the selection of candidates for junior professional positions. The situation of central interest involves an assessor (either male or female) and a pair consisting of a male and a female applicant with either equivalent or slightly different academic records. We also investigate effects from quality of record (either excellent or poor) and type of decision (namely, choice between applicants, and ratings of competence and suitability). Our hypotheses consider both gender as social status and as social identity, and predict different outcomes depending on decision type. In line with those predictions, findings show that, at both levels of performance, the question about competence elicited effects only from the two applicants’ relative academic standing, while the choice and suitability measures show effects from that standing as well as from sex category of applicant and of assessor. Results and their interpretation are presented and discussed in detail.     

应对假日经济

《诗经》在先秦有彬彬之用 ,在汉代被“经”化而有经世之用 ,在魏晋南北朝其“经”的身份受到冷落而在隋唐又被重视 ,在宋代被重新阐释而有治心之用 ,在元、明两朝其“经”位再度中衰而重视对其诗歌性品评 ,在清代“经学”盛起而其“经”位也因此有所振起

《金色笔记》是英国当代著名女作家多丽丝·莱辛的代表作,它以主人公所写的五本笔记和一部小说中的故事《自由女性》为主体,其复杂的叙述结构、跳跃的时空转换、变化重合的人物角色及重叠交错的部分内容等模式彻底打破了传统小说读者的阅读期待,改变了读者被动舒适的阅读习惯,使读者不得不积极地参与作品的阅读过程,重新建构作品本体。     

西部少数民族地区大学生英语口语学习的焦虑心理分析及对策

语言焦虑心理影响着非外语专业大学生英语口语的学习和口语表达能力的提高。调查显示,焦虑心理对少数民族地区的大学生英语口语的学习有很大的影响。害羞和怕出错的心理、文化差异及语言环境是非外语专业少数民族地区大学生语言学习产生焦虑心理的主要原因。学生自信心的培养、教师角色的转换、教学模式的更新能帮助消除语言学习焦虑,提高英语口语教学效果。     

If You're so Smart,why Aren't You Rich? Belief Selection in Complete and Incomplete Markets

This paper provides an analysis of the asymptotic properties of Pareto optimal consumption allocations in a stochastic general equilibrium model with heterogeneous consumers. In particular, we investigate the market selection hypothesis that markets favor traders with more accurate beliefs. We show that in any Pareto‐optimal allocation whether each consumer vanishes or survives is determined entirely by discount factors and beliefs. Whereas equilibrium allocations in economies with complete markets are Pareto optimal, our results characterize the limit behavior of these economies. We show that, all else equal, the market selects for consumers who use Bayesian learning with the truth in the support of their prior and selects among Bayesians according to the size of their parameter space. Finally, we show that in economies with incomplete markets, these conclusions may not hold. With incomplete markets, payoff functions can matter for long‐run survival, and the market selection hypothesis fails.

晚明耶稣会传教活动向民间深入之后,传教士们开始进入远离两京的地区,并在不同社会阶层的群体中,逐渐形成了异于早期"西儒"形象的社会角色.本文以艾儒略在福建地方社会中扮演的角色为个案,分析不同的社会群体对传教士及所传天主教的不同理解与接受状况,并以此透视异质文化间交流与相融的可能性与现实性.
