农林高等教育承担着培养建设社会主义新农村应用型人才的重任,为此农林院校要充分发挥其教学和科研优势,不断加强特色专业的建设和发展,提升高校的办学功能。天滓农学院根据都市型农业生态旅游发展对人才的需求,充分发挥其农林学科优势,坚持产学研相结合,在都市型农业生态旅游这一特色专业建设上进行了有益的探索和实践。

重视学术性是学报发展的第一要义

学术的力量,才是学报长期生存和赢得社会赞誉的内在动力。学报,究其更深层的意义,应该被理解为“学术性的刊物”,这也是区别于其他校刊及一般刊物的最显著的特征。学报编辑需要在学术知识上不断学习和更新,需要明智的判断力,更需要一种胸襟上的通达和对学术高品位的追求。     

萧梁皇族之学术文化述论

萧梁皇族本出自寒门,不以文化显名.齐、梁之间,随着梁武帝一支的兴起,在当时士族社会尚文风气的影响下,其家族重视学术文化的积累,在儒家经学典籍、史学、玄学等领域多有著述.在文学艺术领域,如诗文创作、书法、绘画等方面,梁武帝及其子孙也身体力行,造就了其家族文化的繁荣局面.不仅如此,梁武帝父子还大力倡导重文政策,对当时取仕选举产生深刻的影响,促进了当时士风的变化.萧梁皇族子孙后来多有人流落北周、北齐和隋、唐,推动了南北文化的融合.     

Gendered images of international research collaboration

Joan Acker's theory on gendered organizations offers important tools for understanding subtler forms of inequalities and gendered practices in the workplace. According to Acker, invisible mechanisms in organizations such as the symbolic and material/structural aspects of organizations reproduce gendered inequalities. My application of Acker's theory demonstrates how imagery itself assigns value to collaborative practices in gender stereotypical ways. In an institutional context that devalues international research collaboration among faculty, gendered images of exploiter, patronizing helper, partner, or friend ultimately serve to construct glass fences ‐ obstacles to international collaborative engagement ‐ particularly for women. The reflection and potential recreation of gendered inequalities among academics simultaneously reconstructs inequalities between the U.S. and abroad, as institutional reward structures attach gendered symbolic and material values that (re)shape (international) collaborations themselves. Together, these processes construct the gendered organization of global science and academia.     

Producing and reconstructing knowledge on China in Singapore: perspectives from the academics and mass media

In Singapore, intellectuals, especially those in media and education, are considered as the driving force of formatting public opinion over the social imagination of China and Chineseness. This article, largely based on oral histories of some Singaporean scholars and media professionals and memoirs of related figures, analyzes the choice and acquisition of their knowledge on China. Through the analysis and comparison of their construction of knowledge on China, this article also discusses the accuracy of their understanding of China and how such understandings were formed along with their personal experiences from domestic socialization, education, and professional accumulation. The authors consequently map out the process of how public intellectuals from mass media and academia transform their knowledge imagination of China into the professional opinions that help to reconstruct and shift Singaporean’s impression and understandings of China.     

战后美国举国冷战体制的建立与50年代思想学术界"共识"的形成

战后50年代美国思想学术界"共识"的形成,与美国举国冷战体制的建立这一体制因素有着重要的关联.其中,反共产主义的宣传和政策促进了自由-保守主义意识形态一致的形成;军事、情报机构与科学和思想界的结合及"军事-工业-学术复合体"的出现,则加深了知识和权力的高度共生关系.同时,这种"共识"也是思想学术界自觉选择与塑造的结果,这点可从战后美国史学界"反进步主义史学"潮流的兴起得到说明.     

The Thin End of the Wedge: Foreign Women Professors as Double Strangers in Academia

The impetus for this study was an observation that many of the first women to obtain chairs at European universities were foreigners. Our initial attempt to provide a statistical picture of this proved impossible, because there were numerous problems deciding the contents of such concepts as ‘first’, ‘university professor’ and ‘foreigner’. We have therefore focused on four life stories. It turns out that being a ‘double stranger’— a woman in a masculine profession and a foreigner — is not, as one might think, a cumulative disadvantage. Rather, it seems that these two types of strangeness might cancel out one another, permitting these women a greater degree of success than was allowed their native sisters. This situation however, provides little psychological comfort, hence the metaphor of the wedge: opening the doors but suffering from double pressure.     

Academic Outings

This essay is an exploration of my personal experiences with poverty and identity negotiation, specifically framed within and through my educational experiences. It is the beginnings of an answer to Denzin's (2003:259) call for a “performative politics that leads the way to radical social change.” Scholars often ignore class subjectivities and lived experiences of class. I have chosen to employ critical autoethnographic inquiry in the form of a layered account to understand my lived experiences and my positionality, simultaneously inviting the reader to enter into the discourse.     

Title IX: Help or Hindrance?

ABSTRACT

The goal of this article is to provide a practical guidance for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment or assault in academia and is considering the possibility of pursuing disciplinary measures by means of filing a Title IX complaint. Sexual harassment is an abuse of power by those who possess it against those who do not; the Title IX process does not remedy this power imbalance. And, academic institutions often have interests that compete with the welfare of their students, and which may enable harassers. We address some of the risks that the Title IX process may create for those who are already vulnerable, and suggest that some of the responsibility for enacting reforms should be taken up by professional associations. Because they often control professional journals and conferences, they could be effective advocates for a more fair and equitable educational environment if they choose to take a more active role in discouraging misconduct in their disciplines.
