叶德辉是湘学中的重要学者,《书林清话》是他在目录版本学方面的代表作,有重要的文献学价值,该书汇辑了宋代以来历代私家藏书的目录,并对唐宋以来历代的刻板刻书情况进了资料整理和研究,取得了很大成就。     

Digital survivance and Trickster humor: exploring visual and digital Indigenous epistemologies in the #NoDAPL movement

ABSTRACT

The decolonizing turn in the humanities and social sciences calls for scholarship that analyzes social media practices through the lens of Indigenous epistemologies. In this article, we model the ways that Indigenous epistemologies might contribute to theories of social media practices as we explore ways that the digital image can drive identification with and engagement in political acts. The article analyzes social media tropes circulated across various platforms among Indigenous communities and allies in relation to the #NoDAPL movement. We argue that attempting to analyze Native American traditions through Western theory will only work towards colonizing these Indigenous texts. Thus, whereas we employ insights from digital and visual methods of analysis (Highfield, T., & Leaver, T. (2016). Instagrammatics and digital methods: Studying visual social media, from selfies and GIFs to memes and emoji. Communication Research and Practice, 2(1), 47–62), we also highlight the strategic use of humor in the visual materials shared through various social media platforms utilizing the framework of the Trickster. We argue that the visual and digital phenomena we studied might best be understood as a form of digital survivance, drawing upon Anishinaabe scholar Gerald Vizenor [(1994). Manifest manners: Postindian warriors of survivance. Hanover, CT: Wesleyan University Press]. term ‘survivance’ as a portmanteau that combines ‘survival’ and ‘resistance’ in its characterization of Indigenous storytelling traditions. Whereas centering the Indigenous figure of the Trickster might suggest that social media has failed to live up to its promises, this epistemological approach also explains the hope that Indigenous communities hold in uniting via social media for what has been and continues to be a long-term battle for sovereignty and for the protection of the earth and all of its beings.     

The role of materiality: Knowing through objects in work practice

Based on the perspective of knowing in practice, this paper investigates the everyday work of engineers in a semiconductor plant. Qualitative data analysis is used to examine the active role of objects and how engineers rely on them to perform troubleshooting in the manufacturing processes. Three active roles emerged from the analysis: (a) objects activating interpretations, (b) objects stimulating collaborative practices, and (c) objects sparking experimental activities. Based on these three findings, we propose that objects have three triggering roles. First, objects trigger meaning-making. The meaning-making process provides a condition for better understanding the situation, making inferences, and developing possible diagnostic logics. Second, objects trigger spontaneous relationships. This role promotes social interaction, encourages members to cooperate, and to negotiate in the organization. Third, objects trigger real-time exploratory actions. These triggering roles of objects enable prioritization and execution of troubleshooting practice, based on the available information, actionable knowledge, and the situation at hand. Finally, these findings have important theoretical implications and indicate interesting future research directions related to the active role of objects in work practice.     

Current Challenges of North/South Relations in Gay-Lesbian and Queer Studies

ABSTRACT

The article assesses and analyzes different dimensions of the current configuration of North/South dialogues within gay-lesbian and queer studies, with particular attention to the interrelations between the United States and South America. It looks into how gay-lesbian and queer studies relate to the global division and hierarchy of intellectual labor traditionally embedded in academic practices, and it asks whether the scope of its radical program includes a revision of unequal academic dynamics. Its concerns are both ethical and epistemological, as they speak not only to the moral and political dimensions of academic practice, but also to how these modes affect the knowledge produced in the United States and in South America today. By offering a view from the South conversant with South American as well as Northern production, we hope to contribute to both local and international debates regarding the present and future of the field.     

Indigenous mobility traditions,colonialism, and the anthropocene

ABSTRACT

The anthropocene is often discussed as an era of ‘new’ environmental changes that require unprecedented forms of societal adaptation, one example being climate-induced resettlement. Yet discussions of the anthropocene can also be better contextualized in terms of their featuring certain phenomena as ‘new’ that are really much more longstanding phenomena. For example, many Indigenous peoples have ancient traditions of environmental ‘mobility.’ This essay reviews some of the history of Indigenous philosophies, especially Anishinaabe, of mobility, migration, and resettlement. Often these philosophies focus on fluid and transformative relationships as constituting the fabric of resilient societies. Indigenous traditions of mobility are critically relevant for climate justice. They put into relief how colonial power can operate as a containment strategy that works to curtail mobility. In this way, looking at Indigenous mobility in the anthropocene involves unraveling layers of colonialism where containment has been widely imposed. This claim can be used to signal some of the dangers of centering the causal role of climate change in certain cases societal movement. To further support our claims, the essay concludes with a brief analysis of some of the literature and testimonies on resettlement in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.

ABSTRACT

This article serves as one of the supplementary pieces of this special issue on “Mapping Queer Bioethics,” in which we take a solipsistic turn to “map” the Journal of Homosexuality itself. Here, the author examines Volume 1, Issue 1 of the Journal of Homosexuality and asks whether the journal’s first contributors might reveal a historically problematic relationship whereby the categories of front-line LGBT health advocates in the 1970s might be incommensurate with the post-AIDS, queer politics that would follow in decades to come.     

Using Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis to Leverage Social Indicator Databases: The Discovery of Interesting Patterns

With the proliferation of social indicator databases, the need for powerful techniques to study patterns of change has grown. In this paper, the utility of spatial data analytical methods such as exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) is suggested as a means to leverage the information contained in social indicator databases. The principles underlying ESDA are illustrated using a study of clusters and outliers based on data for a child risk scale computed for countries in the state of Virginia. Evidence of spatial clusters of high child risks is obtained along the Southern region of Virginia. The utility of spatial methods for state agencies in monitoring social indicators at various localities is discussed. A six-step framework that integrates spatial analysis of key indicators within a monitoring framework is presented; we argue that such a framework could be useful in enhancing communication between State and local planners. 中国大陆非洲音乐研究三十年回眸与展望

基于近三十年已发表的相关文献及论著成果,从文献特征、研究内容等方面对中国大陆非洲音乐研究成果给予了初步梳理与分析,并就呈现的学术特点和存在问题予以评论。中国大陆三十年非洲音乐研究的学术水平在不断提升,研究范围逐渐扩大,研究团队初现规模;但同时存在重复性研究,持续性关注不够,价值观念偏移等不足,寄望于未来加强史学领域、田野个案、文献翻译等方面的纵深开掘。     

应加强关于中国文学评点的研究——以明代《楚辞》评点的研究现状为例谈起

文学评点是最具民族特色的一种文学批评样式,目前学术界对它的关注仍多有缺欠.以明代<楚辞>评点的研究为例来看,相关书目著作的介绍中涉及较少,这些书目著作的主要价值停留在了为我们提供相关核查线索和参考信息方面;而<楚辞>评点在当代<楚辞>学科建设中的缺位,则直接导致了它游离于学者视域之外的结果.<楚辞>评点研究的这种滞后局面,亟待引起学术界的关注和重视.
