将兴趣引入到教学中去——高职船体识图与制图教学方法改革与探索

在新的高职教育模式下,高职院校的船体识图与制图课程教学必然要进行相应的改罩。本文通过结合船体识图与制图的课程特点及高职教育学校的生源特点,在专业课程船体识图与制图的教学上采用一系列教学方法激发学生的学习兴趣,从而提高船舶工程技术专业课的教学效果。     

“A Message on Life to the Young”—Perceiving a Senior Volunteer Activity in Japan from an Intergenerational Perspective

Abstract

Intergenerational programming has gained more recognition in Japan in the last decade or so, as research and reports on the status and case studies of intergenerational programs become available since mid-1990s. This paper examines the case study of a volunteer narrative group called G-117 formed primarily by seniors who are survivors of the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji earthquake as an example of an emerging intergenerational program. The research was carried out mainly during fieldwork among senior volunteer groups in Kobe from late 2001 to early 2002, primarily through qualitative approaches of interviews and participant observation. I propose that besides observational research, a more in-depth engagement through ethnographic case study, although much less common in intergenerational program research, is also important in providing rich, contextualized understanding of the development of an intergenerational program, particularly in a cross-cultural setting.     

Situating Privacy Online

Media and research reports point to the issue of privacy as the key to understanding online behaviour and experience. Yet it is well recognized within privacy-advocacy circles that 'privacy' is a loose concept encompassing a variety of meanings. In this article we view privacy as mediating between individuals and their online activities, not standing above them, and as being constantly redefined in actual practice. It is necessary to examine, therefore, what individuals are reacting to when asked about online privacy and how it affects their online experience. This article is based on data generated in the Everyday Internet study, a neighbourhood- based, ethnographic project being conducted in Toronto, Canada, that investigates how people integrate online services in their daily lives. We propose that there are three organizing 'moments' of online privacy: the moment of sitting in front of the computer, the moment of interaction with it, and the moment after the data has been released.

The spatiality of hope: mapping Canada's Northwest energy frontier

Maps engage both with the ‘not there’ and the ‘not yet' by simultaneously envisioning the future and tracing the lines of new geographies of development. Starting from these premises, the paper explores the complex relationship between cartography and hydrocarbon exploration in the Canadian Northwest. Through a selection of maps and mapping initiatives, it is shown how cartography has sustained specific geographic imaginaries of the North, such as the ‘energy frontier’, by infusing diverse hopes in the map-readers. Frontier-making through maps is, in this sense, a particularly difficult process to grasp, being influenced by overlapping interventions and agendas. The paper argues that it is because of their continuous mobilization of hope – regardless of whether this is directed towards oil or sovereignty – that maps should be treated as extremely powerful technologies, which contribute to transforming Canada’s northwest energy frontier into a ‘sticky’ and thus potentially unescapable site of promise.     

Emotional labor in social workers' practice

The meeting between service users and social workers is emotional, since it is centered on significant challenges and changes in the service users' lives. Emotions are thus always at play in social work, but are managed in various ways by the professional. In an explorative qualitative case study at two Danish social services departments, we identified three types of emotional labor: (1) when the social worker shuts off emotions both during and after the meeting; (2) when the social worker defers emotions and processes them at a later time; and (3) when emotions dominate, and a case gets ‘under the skin’ of the social worker. Emotional labor can have both positive and negative effect on the work, and knowledge about different kinds of emotional labor can aid professional discussion about emotions at the work place as well as the psychosocial working environment for the social workers, factors which help improve practice. The study showed that emotional labor is a multidimensional concept, hence it is not just managed in different ways by social workers; it is always related to the specific emotion culture and the community of practice at the work place.

陈伦炯《海国闻见录》所附地图是清代具有代表性的沿海地图,影响广泛,文献记载中与现存均有诸多摹绘（刻）版本。本文对其系列地图的绘制背景、版本流传等问题进行了研究,梳理出陈伦炯《海国闻见录》版本流传的轨迹以及所附地图上地理信息的层累,并对其地理信息的来源进行了分析。     

此前空白的空间——麦尔维尔南太平洋绘图中的真实与叙述形式①

麦尔维尔在太平洋不同海域的经历对其文学创作产生了极大影响,促使他实现从个人叙事到宏大叙事的转变。麦尔维尔需要一种新形式以实现“讲述真实”的目标,而这成为他对世界系统进行文学绘图的基础。他的绘图焦虑迫使他探索地图上的空白空间,在那些他 “真实地方”的版图外区域寻求真实,并试图找到一种表征形式,以使自己成为“讲述真实的伟大艺术”的大师。太平洋为麦尔维尔提供了一个地理空间,可以揭示“综合性真实”,包括政治的、科学的、美学的世界,并展现了他在统一形式与内容上的努力。他对空白空间、真实地方和文学表征的兴趣,既开启了他关于世界系统中权力关系的哲学思考,也开创了《白鲸》独特的文学形式。
