Racism as intimacy – looking,questioning and touching in the service encounter

The article aims to explore the embodied experience of processes of racialisation within service work with a special focus on what workers identify as central bodily strategies in defining them as the ‘other’. Theoretically, the analysis is inspired by the concept of everyday racism with a special focus on the central role of whiteness embedded in definitions of Swedishness. It also engages in dialog with postcolonial and feminist theories on the role of the body in relation to place and profession. Three practices evolve from the narratives as central to the processes of ‘othering’: looks, the repetitive question of origin and touches. The article consists primarily on 12 qualitative, in-depth interviews with service sectors employees who experience racism.     

住院康复精神病人日常生活实践中的充权: 一个广州的个案研究

本文源于社会工作者在广州某精神病院介入一位强迫症患者的实务反思。首先,本文描述精神病院这一专家权力掌控的“全控机构”,凸显全控机构下日常生活实践的碎片化特点。而这既是住院康复精神病人主体性展现的空间,也是社会工作者同理与接纳个案的理想平台,为探讨日常生活实践充权的可能性创造了条件。其次,本文反思与个案建立专业关系的过程,重新理解个案日常生活与外界环境的互动行为的意涵,不仅认识到个案本身的主体性力量和其中存在的充权可能性,也认识到日常生活实践对实现社会工作者同理与接纳的重要意义。这提醒社会工作者在实务过程中要时刻反思如何激发个案主体性,帮助其实现自我认同与接纳。     

视觉艺术与日常生活的审美化

当代中国艺术已经发生了从精英艺术到大众艺术的全方位转型,视觉上的"好看"已经成为渗入人们日常生活中的意识形态了。这一变化广泛而复杂。传统意义上的精神活动被物质化的内核所操控,传统意义上的精神和物质的二元划分不再具有现实意义。被物质化的艺术、审美活动及其表现形态进一步改造、建构着当代中国人的精神生活,对整个社会的文化心理、审美情趣以及价值取向产生着重要影响。视觉艺术及其在日常生活中的审美化构成了当代中国社会文化变迁和人们精神生活变化的重要表征。

宏观民族分析的微观基础:西方日常民族主义理论评述及补充

近年来兴起的日常民族主义理论已经在西方民族理论领域产生较大影响,并且正激发出两种不同路向的新思潮:日常次民族主义和日常超民族主义。日常民族主义理论的提出将原生主义开启的微观民族分析推进到一个更为规范化的分析阶段,其意义在于部分消解了宏观民族分析中内在的冲突性和爆炸性,同时也展示了一个以民族成员个体为中心的民族意义世界。该理论的困难主要集中在其缺乏对精英功能的考虑及对历史变迁的整合这两方面。笔者尝试引入西方社会学理论中的成果来克服这一困难。在美国社会学家柯林斯仪式互动链理论的启发下,笔者提出一个族内互动场的分析框架,以期从社会学的视角对西方的日常民族主义理论进行总结和概括,并对日常民族主义理论进行一些补充和发展。

Rather, we re-emphasize: the extent of the threat that populism poses for liberal democracy; the failure of most mainstream Economists and Political Science to understand the nature of the threat; and the putative ways of renewing democracy.

生活世界是无需理论界说而普通民众可直接顿悟和经验的世界,是物质世界、精神世界和文化世界的世界整体。就目前“生活世界”的理论研究来看,学界已显露出“研究之困境”,即对生活世界理论的研究已陷入类似经院哲学研究方式的怪圈。“生活世界”之哲学研究要真正做到“回归生活世界”,当务之急就是要走出生活世界“研究之困境”,走实践性回归之路。     

Structuring Culture for Change: Strategy,Participation, and Collective Purpose in a Japanese Factory

Organizational culture in Japanese firms has often been used as an independent variable to explain both economic success and, more recently, economic troubles. The Japanese work ethic and lifetime employment stand in for culture in the former case and Japanese reliance on rigid traditions and hierarchy stand in for culture in the latter. This article examines a Japanese factory campaign designed to prepare for recent and ongoing challenges to employment practices and business strategies by strengthening culture and creating new values. Factory managers worked to create support for their goals in face of department, section, and worker responses ranging from enthusiasm to apathy or opposition. An analysis of this campaign shows that culture is a social process, not a given body of knowledge and practice. It also shows how that process is carried out within a particular economic institution by particular actors.
