Oracle GMM estimation for misspecified models via thresholding

We propose a thresholding generalized method of moments (GMM) estimator for misspecified time series moment condition models. This estimator has the following oracle property: its asymptotic behavior is the same as of any efficient GMM estimator obtained under the a priori information that the true model were known. We propose data adaptive selection methods for thresholding parameter using multiple testing procedures. We determine the limiting null distributions of classical parameter tests and show the consistency of the corresponding block-bootstrap tests used in conjunction with thresholding GMM inference. We present the results of a simulation study for a misspecified instrumental variable regression model and for a vector autoregressive model with measurement error. We illustrate an application of the proposed methodology to data analysis of a real-world dataset.

Impact of internal migration on the economic well-being of local workers and school dropouts among children in Vietnam

This study examines the impact of migration on local workers and high school dropouts of local students. A conventional approach without addressing the endogeneity issue may lead to biased results. Our endogeneity-corrected estimates show a positive impact of migration on the monthly wages of local workers. A higher share of migrants increases the probability of local workers with employment contracts, social insurance, and holiday pay. Heterogeneity analysis shows that local workers, no matter their educational level, work experience, or occupation sectors, benefit from the inflow of migrants. Finally, migration inflow lowers the probability of high school dropouts among local students. Our findings resulting from rigorous statistical approaches suggest that internal migration produces positive impacts on the economic well-being of local residents, refuting the argument about the adverse effects associated with internal migration.     

大学数学教学应重视学生四种能力的培养

数学教育在大学生基本素质培养方面发挥着不可替代的作用,教师在教学过程中不仅要做好数学知识的传授,而且应该注重学生综合能力和素质的培养。数学具有鲜明的学科特点,需要独特的学习方法,教师应充分利用这些特点,在大学数学教学中重视学生抽象思维和逻辑推理、分析问题和解决问题、自主学习、归纳总结和推广四种能力的培养,为学生未来的发展打下坚实的基础。     

Moral conformity in online interactions: rational justifications increase influence of peer opinions on moral judgments

Over the last decade, social media has increasingly been used as a platform for political and moral discourse. We investigate whether conformity, specifically concerning moral attitudes, occurs in these virtual environments apart from face-to-face interactions. Participants took an online survey and saw either statistical information about the frequency of certain responses, as one might see on social media (Study 1), or arguments that defend the responses in either a rational or emotional way (Study 2). Our results show that social information shaped moral judgments, even in an impersonal digital setting. Furthermore, rational arguments were more effective at eliciting conformity than emotional arguments. We discuss the implications of these results for theories of moral judgment that prioritize emotional responses.

Exclusion restrictions in instrumental variables equations

In this paper we consider two-stage estimators of parameters of a structural equation in a model with recursive exclusion restrictions on the instrumental variables equations. The estimations considered are simple OLS and GLS estimators after substitution of estimates of the systematic part of the IV equations for the endogenous variables. It is known in the literature that neither imposing the restrictions in the first stage nor ignoring them will in general be more efficient than the alternative. We introduce a class of mixed instrumental variables estimators (MIV) with these possibilities as special cases which yields an estimator which is not only more efficient than the two stage estimators considered in the literature but as efficient as an efficient system estimator like 3SLS.

当代资本主义危机的突出表现有科技危机、分配危机、生态危机、文化危机等多种,其理性根源主要是过于崇尚工具理性。这以客观事实证明了社会主义价值理性对于资本主义工具理性危机有着不可或缺的解毒作用,同时也证明了社会主义在人类社会发展历程中有着不可取代的合理性,怀疑甚至攻击社会主义前途的种种观点是站不住脚的。     

基于事例推理方法在企业知识管理中的应用

知识管理的目的是形成企业的核心能力,给企业带来现实的利益。每个企业需要解决的问题是如何来管理知识并使其发挥应有的作用。知识管理决不只是技术问题,但知识管理的实现离不开相关技术的支持。本文介绍了基于事例推理方法,并说明了该方法是适于实现企业知识管理的一种技术,以及如何在企业知识管理中应用该方法。实践证明,基于事例推理方法是实现企业知识管理的利器之一。
