Social inclusion in research: reflecting on a research project involving young mothers in care

This article considers social inclusion in research by reflecting upon a project involving young mothers in care, which used grounded theory methodology (GTM) to theorise their situations and emphasise their voice, a key issue in inclusion, and yielded mixed outcomes. GTM dealt poorly with inclusivity and was supplemented by a feminist orientation. This also failed young mothers. They were included by sitting on an Advisory Com-mittee, being paid an honorarium and assisting in disseminating results. These efforts were unable to overturn power dynamics that privileged researchers' ownership of the findings, and enabled them to benefit from doing research and their rela-tionship with funders. The attempt to change policies and practices that served clients badly was thwarted by an election that brought in a régime with different goals. The young women authored their own stories and spoke authoritatively of their experiences. However, inclusion was not fully secured in and by the research process. Their positioning as research subjects curtailed their potential in this regard.

司法鉴定质证程序问题研究

由于历史和现实的诸多因素,我国在司法鉴定质证程序方面的法规还远未达到规范化、法制化的要求,还存在着缺乏审前程序、对鉴定人出庭作证没有强制要求、对鉴定结论的质证流于形式等问题,可以说目前司法鉴定领域出现的众多问题及争议,与此有着直接的因果关系。因此,建立一套统一的、科学合理的司法鉴定质证程序规则势在必行。     

超额商誉、审计师行业专长与商誉减值

以2014—2016年并购事件为样本,研究发现超额商誉与自并购时点起三年内商誉减值的总额显著正相关。当作为并购中介的会计师事务所标的资产所在行业具有行业专长时,能够对超额商誉与短期内商誉减值的关系起到抑制作用。进一步研究发现,在非跨行业并购及关联并购中,审计师行业专长的抑制作用更加显著。丰富了商誉与并购中介相关研究,为并购方理解超额商誉的经济后果及会计师事务所的聘用价值提供了经验证据。     

Utilization of Advice from Face-to-Face and Internet-Mediated Advisors

Advice is increasingly sought and shared online, but advisory professionals debate the utility of such methods. Variations in recipients' perceptions of elements of traditional face-to-face (FTF) advice and Internet-mediated (IM) advice may influence its utilization. The present research investigated whether communication format (FTF vs. IM) and an advisor's level of expertise influence perceptions and utilization of advice. Participants played 30 rounds of a prisoner's dilemma game after receiving advice about the best strategy. There was a significant tendency for advice to be followed, but the advice format and advisor expertise had no significant influence on advice utilization and only minor influences on self-reported perceptions of the advice and the advisor. This has worrying implications, and could indicate a lack of critical awareness of advisors' expertise when deciding whether to follow advice or not. Implications for the professional advice field and further research possibilities are discussed.     

在线口碑效应的影响因素实证研究

产品推荐和口碑传播一直都是商家实践探索和营销学者研究的热点领域,但过去的研究集中于传统环境中面对面的口碑传播对消费者产品态度和购买决策的影响效果和机制。互联网的迅速发展使得我们有必要关注这种新型的在线口碑交流方式及其影响机制。在传统口碑传播效应模型基础上,提出针对虚拟社区的口碑传播效应模型,并通过问卷调查对模型进行验证。结果显示,在虚拟社区环境下,影响在线口碑对购买决策作用效应的主要因素是消费者-网站关系、传播者专业性、站点可信度和接收者专家性;消费者个人间的在线联结强度对口碑效应没有显著的正向影响。     

三十年来古龙研究的多方位透视——兼论古龙武侠小说的类型知识体系

古龙是新派武侠小说三大家之一,台湾武侠小说的代表人物。他以“求新求变求突破”为创作宗旨,在武侠小说的主题、叙事、语言等方面开创了自己独特的风格。古龙研究已走过30年,古龙的生平创作和作品的思想艺术价值都得到了细致的探讨,出现了现代观念、文体创新、金古比较、创作影响等热点议题。现代性视野的进入和研究方法的丰富,使古龙研究获得了领域上的拓展和学理性的提升,但总体上看甚显杂乱、不成体系,面临着类型学上的困境。探究古龙小说类型特征发现：现代都市平民生活体验的武侠意识形态,是市民文化和政治环境的产物;侦探推理模式和“浪子/游侠”模式形成的武侠形式结构,体现了事件中心建构方式到人物中心建构方式的转变;古龙武学和市井江湖组成的武侠专门知识,革新了传统武功设定和江湖背景构建,三者共同构成古龙小说的类型知识体系。     

Leadership education for English language learners as transformative pedagogy

This qualitative case study investigates the transformative power of a leadership course designed for immigrant secondary school students learning English as an additional language with a social justice orientation. Course projects allowed the students to get involved in tutoring, present at a conference on intercultural education, deliver equity presentations and role model presentation skills for their peers by discussing topics such as Canadian culture, showcase their talents from their L1 cultures and give advice on how to integrate into the school and to lead activities to create school spirit by sharing music from their culture, running a ‘thank your teacher’ campaign, or taking the lead with an international humanitarian cause. The teacher’s plans and notes, course assignments, video footage of students presenting a conference workshop and monthly feedback forms were the data that allowed us to understand how transformative pedagogy was enacted by the teacher and experienced by the students in one Canadian secondary school with a very diverse student population.     

‘Modern’ parenting and the uses of childcare advice in post-war England

In the post-war English media, ‘modern’ parenting referred to psychologically inspired styles of parenting drawn from professionals. Drawing on archived social-science interviews with over 600 families, this article considers what ‘modern’ parenting meant in the vernacular. It explores the emergence of a group of working-class parents who felt ‘modern’ because they had adopted whichever style of parenting they felt ‘right’ for their child, whatever its source. These parents personalized ‘modern’ ideas found in the mass media, using them to justify choices which they had already made. They came to identify as flexible, adaptive, parents, rather than as people who unquestioningly implemented someone else’s ideas. Using reflexive models of selfhood, they produced a syncretic amalgamation of ideas about parenting, which were drawn, simultaneously, from childcare professionals, members of their communities and their own intuitions. This allowed them to fashion unique styles of parenting, tailored to their children. Rethinking what was ‘modern’ and ‘traditional’ let them reconceive parenting as a personal matter, not as something which professionals or kin should dictate. The post-war fixation on the self was therefore consonant with the ‘reworking’ of class, rather than with its declining salience in English society.
