The Culture of Methamphetamine: Reframing Gay Men's Methamphetamine Use

Most often, methamphetamine researchers examine the biological and psychological outcomes of chronic methamphetamine use and problems leading toward relapse. Consequently, the current intervention models tend to sidestep the salience of socio-cultural environments that influence methamphetamine use. In line with the person-in-environment framework of social work, we submit that understanding these facets can illuminate the dynamic processes that initiate and support methamphetamine use and the subsequent risky sexual behaviors among gay and bisexual men. To that end, this article is a review and synthesis of existing literature on methamphetamine use in the men who have sex with men community. We also provide some recommendations for practitioners.     

Support,Discrimination, and Alcohol Use Among Racially/Ethnically Diverse Sexual Minority Youths

Rates of alcohol use for sexual minority youths are nearly twice that of their heterosexual peers, yet specific risk and protective factors associated with alcohol use among sexual minority youths remain unclear. Structural equation modeling is used to examine relations among alcohol use, peer and family support, and discrimination among 207 diverse sexual minority youths. Discrimination had no relationship to alcohol use; however, it was negatively associated with peer and family support. Peer support was associated with greater alcohol use among bisexual youths. This study adds to our understanding of the roles of discrimination, social support, and alcohol use among diverse sexual minority youths.     

Conducting Research Among Older Lesbian,Gay, and Bisexual Adults

Gerontologists and developmental researchers have neglected the study of sexual orientation among older adults. The apparent assumptions are either that it does not exist or that it is not necessary to know; consequently, older lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) adults remain invisible groups with the exception of a relatively small number of studies using convenience samples. This article examines some conceptual, practical and ethical challenges involved in designing and conducting research among older LGB adults. The limitations and emphases of extant research and the challenges in conducting such research are examined. The design of two studies that focused on mental and physical health and on care-giving among older LGB adults are discussed to suggest ways of meeting the challenges.     

论政治运动对新中国政治发展的经验与教训

政治运动曾是当代中国政治运作的一种独特方式。分析六十多年来政治运动对中国政治发展的经验和教训,可以看出,政治运动具有＂超强的社会推动能力＂,通过政治运动曾一度提升了国家生存的能力、公民的政治认同感、公民的政治行为能力,培养了政治积极分子,弥补了制度的过程化不足;但政治运动的频繁运作也阻碍了政治制度化的发展,导致政治民主水平下降、政治价值逐渐一元化、政治合法性下降,带来了意识形态教条化。     

A Survey of Factors Contributing to Gay and Lesbian Domestic Violence

Gay and lesbian domestic violence is still a relatively new topic of study; work has been done in this area only since the early 1980s. Thus, little formal research has been published regarding this issue. This article presents a qualitative study of gay male and lesbian perpatrators of domestic violence. By using demographic profiles from 288 clients who had been referred for perpetrator treatment, the author sought to understand whether self-abusive behaviors, involving drugs, alcohol, food and sex are predominant among perpetrators, as well as to explore the prevalence of intergenerational abuse patterns. Analysis revealed a high incidence of personal histories of abuse experiences among gay/lesbian adult perpetrators, as well as a high incidence of secondary abusive behaviors within this sample.     

农村劳动力转移与新农村建设：统筹发展中的问题与建议——基于甘肃农村的调查

本文分析了劳动力转移对新农村建设的综合影响以及农村劳动力资源培育的现实情况,认为在农村劳动力向非农产业和城镇转移这个不可逆转的趋势下,必须确保农业和农村经济发展对劳动力资源的有效需求,以保持劳动力转移和新农村建设协调、稳步和持续的发展。为此,本文以十七届三中全会精神为指导,探讨和提出了农村劳动力转移与新农村建设统筹发展的思路和建议。     

风格迥异的各届国际奥委会主席及其妇女体育政策的演变——从皮埃尔·德·顾拜旦到雅克·罗格

国际奥委会是以自我遴选制和逆向代表制为基础的非政府组织。在其组织结构中，以主席、副主席、执委等精英人士组成的核心层是国际奥委会妇女体育政策制定和变更的重要推手。通过对国际奥委会历任主席执政期间的政策文本及措施进行分析，梳理出历任主席的性别意识与妇女体育政策嬗变之间的关系。     

Attitudes Toward Lesbian,Gay, and Bisexual College Students: The Contribution of Pluralistic Ignorance,Dynamic Social Impact,and Contact Theories

Abstract

Social psychology theories may be useful in developing new interventions to reduce prejudice against lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) college students. For this preliminary study, the authors surveyed 109 college dormitory residents to determine their personal comfort with LGB students and their perceptions of other students' comfort with these individuals. They found widespread evidence of pluralistic ignorance—the students rated themselves as significantly less anti-gay than either their friends or the typical student. Students' attitudes showed geographic clustering, with the building of residence a significant predictor of students' attitudes. Finally, consistent with the contact hypothesis, the perception that 1 or 2 LGB students lived on the same floor or in the same building was associated with more positive attitudes.

近年来，国际妇女运动不断发展，女性主义理论也不断推陈出新，但从基本理论内涵上看，平等、发展、和平，以及社会性别主流化仍是一条明晰的主线。在新的实践背景和复杂的理论思潮下，把握国际妇女运动的基本理论内涵，坚持正确的妇女运动发展方向，对中国特色社会主义妇女理论的发展具有重要意义。
