Much is being done by governments and organizations to help workers reconcile their family and employment responsibilities. One such measure has been the introduction of flexible working policies. While academic and policy debates focus on the barriers to flexible working, less consideration is paid to those who work alongside flexible workers. Through a gendered lens, this article focuses on professional women and explores the implications of UK flexible working policies for women's workplace relations in organizations that have traditionally been based on male models of working. Drawing on interviews conducted in three English organizations, it was found that the women's interests did not always coincide and that their social relationships, with respect to flexible working, involved both support and resentment. In particular, the women's interests were affected by organizational and job‐related factors and their stage in the life course. These findings illuminate the ways in which policies are negotiated at the level of daily workplace life and show that co‐workers are a pivotal part of the wider picture of flexible working.  相似文献

根据组织提供的服务类型,支持型社会组织分为“单一功能支持型组织”和“同业支持型社会组织”。以社区居家养老组织“心贴心”为例,组织发展的动力机制;一方面,同业支持型社会组织为其自身发展需要而积累的“组织发展要素”是发挥同业支持的必要条件;另一方面,新生组织的孵化、适当的政社关系的构建对同业圈内支持的需求是同业支持的充分条件。同业支持型社会组织有利于构建有机的社会组织生态圈,是一种提升社会组织能力的新方式。  相似文献

中国司法在法院审判组织方面改革的核心问题,就是以确立现代司法为目的和根本要求,将法院内部与现代司法原则相悖的审判组织关系结构变革为以保障审判组织和法官独立行使审判权为目标的审判组织关系结构。应该按照审判独立的要求建构合议庭内部与外部的合理关系结构,以真正有效发挥合议庭的审判功能;应该在法院审判组织改革的整体性框架下,选择更宽阔的视野讨论审判委员会的职能和作用,以符合现代司法的建构与运作要求实现审判委员会自身的制度变革。  相似文献

随着我国高等教育从精英教育向大众化教育的转变,教学研究型大学成为高等教育的中坚力量。大学基层学术组织是完成各种大学职能的基本单位,它运行的效果影响着高校的形象和声誉。目前,我国教学研究型大学基层学术组织的生存面临种种困境,比如:学校高层对其重视不够、科层体制束缚、缺乏自由与权力、人力协同力不足、偏重教学弱化科研、组织结构松散、科研氛围不浓等。应该顺应经济发展及社会需求,不断完善基层学术组织,使其为教学研究型大学平稳快速地向研究型大学转型作出应有的贡献。  相似文献

有没有重要的国际组织入驻一直是衡量一个城市乃至整个国家的国际影响力和竞争力的重要指标。上海是中国最大的经济中心城市,也是亚洲增长最快的商业和金融中心之一。中国上海世博会期间,共有49个国际组织参展,其中有7个国际组织成为世博会论坛的协办方。这是上海与世界主要国际组织间最大规模的一次互动。吸引国际组织入驻是一个长期的系统工程,上海要像申博、筹博和办博一样,充分发挥集中力量办大事的制度优势,争取在5~10年内形成由若干著名国际组织为中心、有上海特色的国际组织园区。  相似文献

本文以当代华人社会最为成功的慈善团体之一的台湾佛教慈济基金会以下简称:慈济为研究案例,运用社会交换理论研究慈济的发展动力机制,发现社会交换所产生的“合法性机制”和社会需求的变迁是其发展动力机制的核心,“合法性机制”和需求变迁促使慈济不断根据变迁的制度环境进行自我调适以适应社会发展的要求,进而成为台湾民间慈善组织的翘楚。慈济成功的运作模式可以为大陆地区慈善团体的发展提供经验参考。  相似文献

This article examines the effects of several forms of wage inequality on service quality and employee effort. We suggest that two popular theories, tournament and fair wage/equity, are not necessarily competing. Each theory accurately describes aspects of employee behavior, but because of sectoral differences in organizational objectives and employee attitudes, tournament theory's predictions are relatively stronger in the for‐profit sector, while fair wage/equity theory's predictions are relatively stronger in the nonprofit sector. Using an employer–employee matched data set of nursing homes linked to a federal regulatory database and a resident survey, we found that ownership moderates the relationship between wage inequality and service quality. Although wage inequality positively affects service quality in the for‐profit sector, the reverse is true among nonprofit organizations. We also found that overall wage inequality in the workplace has a more pronounced influence on employee discretionary effort than does the employee's place in the distribution of wages.  相似文献

Little is known about how effective Canadian settlement organizations are in meeting the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) immigrants. The authors conducted a two-stage content analysis of the inclusion of LGBTQ immigrants in 34 settlement organizations in Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador, and on the delivery of services by nine settlement organizations that self-described as LGBTQ-positive spaces. Stage 1 deductive content analysis findings revealed poor inclusion and support for LGBTQ immigrants. Stage 2 inductive content analysis findings revealed four service priority areas: health/well-being, community connections, advocacy/education, and disability. ABSTRACT

Sustainability remains a concern for community models to better support older adults’ aging in place in their own homes and communities. Based on qualitative data from leaders of 53 Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) Supportive Service Programs, which is among the most prominent community practice models in aging, we aimed to develop an empirically-grounded framework on sustainability processes. Results indicated that programs use funding, staff members, interorganizational partnerships, and volunteers to offer services to attract older adults, and that older adults’ participation, in turn, is perceived as influencing the accrual of additional resources. Across themes, respondents discussed the importance of being responsive to the community and facilitating consumer participation.  相似文献
