Abstract

The telecommunications business is undergoing a critical revolution, driven by innovative technologies, globalization and deregulation. Cellular networks and telecommunications bring radical changes to the way telecom businesses are conducted. Globalization, on the other hand, is tearing down legacy barriers and forcing monopolistic national carriers to compete internationally. Moreover, the noticeable progress of many countries towards deregulation coupled with liberalization is significantly increasing telecom market power and allowing severe competition. The implications of this transition have changed the business rules of the telecom industry. In addition, entrants into the cellular industry have had severe difficulties due to inexistent or weak business models (BMs). Designing a BM for a mobile network operator (MNO) is complex and requires multiple actors to balance different and often conflicting design requirements. Hence, there is a need to enhance operators' ability in determining what constitutes the most viable BM to meet their strategic objectives within this turbulent environment. In this article, the authors identify the main mobile BM dimensions along with their interdependencies and further analysis provides MNOs with insights to improve their BMs in this new 'boundary-less' landscape.  相似文献

通信消费者在决策时,由于对套餐信息的不完全了解,再加上心理因素的影响,往往选择比较随意,造成非理性消费。通过分析预期理论的基本思想,研究了通信消费者决策的一般心理变化过程;以消费者近三个月的平均ARPU值为参考点,通过损失承受变量分析了消费者决策过程中的盈利和损失并确定价值函数;通过主观概率确定概率权重函数;构建了基于损失承受能力的通信消费者决策模型;运用心理物理学方法进行了实证分析,结果表明改进的基于预期理论的通信消费者决策模型更贴近实际生活中消费者决策行为。  相似文献

Using data collected from focus groups and nonparticipant observations, this article explores how and why cross‐talk by way of smartphone affects face‐to‐face encounters. The findings show there are three types of digital cross‐talk: exclusive, semi‐exclusive, and collaborative. Furthermore, it was found that digital cross‐talk can either facilitate or disrupt the expressive order of an encounter. Semi‐exclusive and collaborative digital cross‐talk were found to facilitate encounters. Exclusive digital cross‐talk was found to disrupt or have little influence on encounters, depending on whether or not interlocutors successfully engaged in a corrective process, an avoidance process, or aggressive face‐work.  相似文献

Regulatory use of the precautionary principle (PP) tends to be broadly characterized either as a responsible approach for safeguarding against health and environmental risks in the face of scientific uncertainties, or as “state mismanagement” driven by undue political bias and public anxiety. However, the “anticipatory” basis upon which governments variably draw a political warrant for adopting precautionary measures often remains ambiguous. Particularly, questions arise concerning whether the PP is employed preemptively by political elites from the “top down,” or follows from more conventional democratic pressures exerted by citizens and other stakeholders from the “bottom up.” This article elucidates the role and impact of citizen involvement in the precautionary politics shaping policy discourse surrounding the U.K. government's “precautionary approach” to mobile telecommunications technology and health. A case study is presented that critically reexamines the basis upon which U.K. government action has been portrayed as an instance of anticipatory policy making. Findings demonstrate that the use of the PP should not be interpreted in the preemptive terms communicated by U.K. government officials alone, but also in relation to the wider social context of risk amplification and images of public concern formed adaptively in antagonistic precautionary discourse between citizens, politicians, industry, and the media, which surrounded cycles of government policy making. The article discusses the sociocultural conditions and political dynamics underpinning public influence on government anticipation and responsiveness exemplified in this case, and concludes with research and policy implications for how society subsequently comes to terms with the emergence and precautionary governance of new technologies under conflict.  相似文献

We argue that the usage of mobile apps could be understood in the context of being permanently online. That is, contrary to functionalist theories, the usage of mobile apps is not simply an outcome based on the user’s rational needs and goals but also reflects the new state of being in the online world of the mobile Internet environment. Following this approach, in this study we review the emerging concept of being permanently online, as well as two key influential factors: the fear of missing out (FOMO) and the feeling of acceleration. We then use the survey data collected from university students in Shanghai, China (N?=?687) to examine the relationships between FOMO, the feeling of acceleration, being permanently online, and two types of mobile apps usage (i.e. WeChat and O2O life service apps). The results showed that in controlling for other variables, FOMO, the feeling of acceleration, and being permanently online were significantly related to mobile apps usage. In particular, FOMO was positively related to being permanently online. These empirical findings demonstrate the significance of examining mobile app usage from a new theoretical perspective, and they indicate that this approach deserves further attention in the research on this topic.  相似文献

随着互联网产业的快速发展,移动服务商能够更便捷地获取用户个人隐私信息,而对隐私信息保护又相对薄弱,从而导致用户越来越感知到个人隐私信息缺乏控制,也进一步影响着用户披露个人信息与使用移动商务的意愿,因而有必要探索新的隐私保护方法,并通过实证研究对其有效性进行验证。基于此,本文以公平理论、计划行为理论为基础,提出了面向移动商务环境的隐私偏好设置及隐私反馈,探究了其对移动商务用户披露个人信息与使用移动商务意愿(下简称行为意愿)的影响作用与机理,并采用PLS-SEM方法进行了实证研究。实证结果表明:所提出的隐私保护方法对用户感知的隐私控制(下简称感知控制)和行为意愿产生显著的直接正向影响,并通过感知控制间接正向影响用户的行为意愿,而隐私偏好设置和隐私反馈对用户行为意愿具有显著的负向交互作用,且隐私反馈对隐私偏好设置具有替代作用。  相似文献
