Life politics,nature and the state: Giddens' sociological theory and The Politics of Climate Change

Anthony Giddens' The Politics of Climate Change represents a significant shift in the way in which he addresses ecological politics. In this book, he rejects the relevance of environmentalism and demarcates climate‐change policy from life politics. Giddens addresses climate change in the technocratic mode of simple rather than reflexive modernization. However, Giddens' earlier sociological theory provides the basis for a more reflexive understanding of climate change. Climate change instantiates how, in high modernity, the existential contradiction of the human relationship with nature returns in new form, expressed in life politics and entangled with the structural contradictions of the capitalist state. The interlinking of existential and structural contradiction is manifested in the tension between life politics and the capitalist nation‐state. This tension is key for understanding the failures so far of policy responses to climate change.     

Political parties' perceptions and uses of anti‐Semitic conspiracy theories in Turkey

Despite its ever‐present and at times escalating significance, conspiracy theory is an under‐researched topic in the social sciences. This paper analyses the political influence of conspiracy theories by drawing on semi‐structured interviews with the representatives of four major political parties from the Turkish parliament about widespread anti‐Semitic conspiracy theories regarding Dönmes (converts). The findings indicate that right‐wing political parties problematize the secret character of the Dönme community and use the conspiracy theories to express their own ontological insecurities emerging from the Sèvres syndrome. Left‐wing and liberal parties conversely dissociate themselves from the conspiratorial rhetoric. The research concludes that the political parties reject or accept the conspiracy theories rationally and in alignment with their own ontological insecurities; by doing so, they pragmatically confirm their individual ideological perspective.     

Housing the Homeless Mentally Ill

This paper presents the housing outcomes from an assertive case management program for the homeless mentally ill. The program was evaluated using an experimental design. Qualifying clients in a state hospital were randomly assigned to the case management program or routine services. At six month follow-up, over twice as many experimental as control clients were housed. None of the experimental clients had returned to living on the streets or in shelters

人类的知识系统可分为＂本体知识＂和＂对象性知识＂;本体知识由自我经验、自我情感、自我概念、自我意识等系列要素构成。主体唯有借助具身认知方式才能真正内化外源知识,进而以审美方式建构本体知识、运用投射方式输出思想成果和行为图式。因此,我们应当把建构本体知识作为大学教育的核心内容、把培养学生的元认知能力作为大学的根本价值目标,以便借此体现大学对人类文化的全息传承与综合创新的社会功能。     

论科学主义概念的内涵与特征

科学主义这一思潮诞生于19世纪六七十年代,经一百多年的发展,目前有认识论的科学主义、本体论的科学主义、价值论的科学主义、存在主义的科学主义几种类型.无论何种类型的科学主义,都受到科学以外的客观实在的限制,也受到科学知识的限制与约束,认识到这一点,才能突破科学主义的狭隘视野,解放科学的生机与活力.     

概念隐喻的分类及其在语言教学中的认知力

美国语言学家George Lakoff认为概念隐喻不仅存在于人类的语言之中,而且也存在于人类的思维和行动之中;它不是语言的表面现象,而是一种深层的认知机制。概念隐喻主要分为四类:结构隐喻、方位隐喻、本体隐喻、管道隐喻。大量的英汉日常表达式说明,概念隐喻支配着一词多义现象或不同意义之间关联的原则是由具体到抽象的隐喻性映射;另外,概念隐喻还可以帮助学生深刻理解许多常规性习语的意义。

国内微信的本体功能及其应用研究综述

微信是近两年我国学界研究的热点问题。我国的微信研究主要集中在三个方面：一是本体问题,主要分析微信的属性、传播特征等;二是功能问题,主要探索微信的社会功能、社会影响等;三是应用问题,主要研究微信在商业上、政务上应用的可行性和方法等。我国的微信研究具有实践导向性、多层面性、多学科性等特点,但也存在肤浅性、功利性和滞后性等问题与不足。未来的微信研究需要重点从微信与公民表达、微信与舆论、微信犯罪与治理,以及国外微信发展等方面进行拓展与深入。     

认知假设·动态语境·幽默效果

关联理论的动态语境观认为,语境是由一系列认知假设构成的,语境的改变会使同一话语产生不同的含义。这一观点给笑话的幽默效果的产生提供了理论依据:笑话利用特殊的话语信息的输入方式来改变听话者的语境,使话语具有特定的含义进而实现幽默效果。
