This is the first application of a new method for testing stationary random point processes. Consider the class of all stationary ergodic point processes on the real line with arbitrary dependences among the inter–point distances (spacing).The hypothesis is :The observed process φ is a homogeneous Poisson process or more (resp.less) regular than a Poisson process.The sample is the vector of the first n points t₁, …,t_n.There is a close relation between our method for testing and queueing theory: For finding an appropriate test statistic, we observe the behaviour of a single server queue with the input φ.A table of critical values is given.

Tests of symmetry based on transformed empirical processes

A probability distribution function F is said to be symmetric when 1 ‐ F(x) ‐ F(‐x) = 0 for all x∈ R. Given a sequence of alternatives contiguous to a certain symmetric F₀, the authors are concerned with testing for the null hypothesis of symmetry. The proposed tests are consistent against any nonsymmetric alternative, and their power with respect to the given sequence can easily be optimized. The tests are constructed by means of transformed empirical processes with an adequate selection of the underlying isometry, and the optimum power is obtained by suitably choosing the score functions. The test statistics are very easy to compute and their asymptotic distributions are simple.

中国的关系格局是一种差序格局,中国私营企业家的行为是关系导向的,家族价值观决定了企业家行为选择的基本方向。中国私营企业家具体的关系运作模式是一种渗透模式:以己为中心,通过血缘关系、亲缘关系、地缘关系不断地向外延伸来扩展自己的关系网络。中国私营企业家进行企业内、企业间、企业与政府三种方式的关系运作,会不断地打破私营企业发展过程中面临的政策壁垒与市场壁垒的双重压力,结果,私营企业组织形式也发生了相应的演变。     

Time,Stress and Intellectual Engagement in Academic Work: Exploring Gender Difference

This article is based on a pilot study that examines the effects of recent organizational and public policy changes on Canadian academics' work practices and academic culture. It explores the differences between the use of online technologies by women and male academics in managing these effects. It interprets the complex and often contradictory findings of the study through the lens of time theorization, and speculates about the broader cultural implications of academics' changing work practices, including the possibility of a gestalt shift in the identity of the university, less as a site of research and reflection on society and increasingly as a productive and efficient part of the economy.     

Associations among altruism, burnout dimensions, and organizational citizenship behaviour

Most studies of burnout have focused on lack of resources, prevalence of burnout, and negative outcomes. In contrast, this study examined the relationships among altruism, burnout and a positive outcome, namely, the engagement in organizational citizenship behaviour. Web questionnaires were distributed to employees in three professional organizations. The results from the 178 respondents indicated that altruism is related to organizational citizenship behaviour. Of the three dimensions of burnout, only reduced personal accomplishment was (negatively) associated with engagement in organizational citizenship behaviours. Implications of the results are discussed and directions for future research are offered.
