Checkbooks in the Heartland: Change over Time in Voluntary Association Membership

Numerous scholars documented declines in America's social capital through the mid‐1990s but we do not know whether the trend has continued. Further, despite warnings by Robert Putnam and Theda Skocpol that the quality of Americans' voluntary association memberships has also deteriorated—moving from active, “face‐to‐face” memberships to passive, “checkbook” memberships—data have not been available to test this claim. In this article, we use both the Iowa Community Survey and the General Social Survey to explore the changing nature of voluntary association membership between 1994 and 2004. We demonstrate that not only are declines in voluntary association memberships continuing in the new century but there has been a shift in the intensity of voluntary association participation over time. We observe a decline in active membership over time and an increase in checkbook membership over time. These findings provide support for Putnam's claim that checkbook membership is increasing at the expense of more active types of memberships.     

成长的仪式:文化人类学视野中的青少年的性与性教育

从文化人类学的研究视野来看,青少年的性教育是他们在青春期所经历的一个重要的成长仪式。作为一种成长的仪式,性教育具有丰富的社会意义,并承担着重要的社会文化功能。在仪式的变迁过程中,以同辈群体为中心的非正式制度层面的性教育仪式逐渐被以学校为中心的正式制度层面的性教育仪式所取代。然而,正式制度层面的性教育仪式却在当前社会中面临着危机与尴尬,其根源不仅仅是当前学校性教育中方法和内容等存在着问题,更重要的是青少年在性教育仪式中主体性的缺失。要改变这些状况,我们需要再造仪式,注重青少年在性教育仪式中主体地位的建构,把性教育当作是一种青少年的主体权利。     

缓和与1973年中东战争的爆发

缓和是冷战时期的特定阶段,美苏对缓和的认知影响了双方在中东地区的政策及解决中东危机的进程。1973年中东战争的爆发,既与美苏对缓和的认知与推动有关,也离不开埃及对缓和的追求。美苏缓和虽缓解了彼此间的紧张关系,但由于美苏对缓和的追求漠视了埃及的缓和努力与阿拉伯国家对被占领土的诉求,这成为促发战争爆发的外源性因素。美苏缓和对阿以僵局的维持,埃及缓和外交的失败与以色列的强硬立场,使萨达特放弃了外交努力而发动了斋月战争。     

作为一个过渡礼仪的两个庆典——对元旦与春节关系的表述

中国从步入现代民族国家的时候就引出在一个日历年里有两个新年庆典的问题。新的公历元旦与废弃的夏历元旦(春节)一直处在现代与传统、西方与本土、官方与民间的文化纠葛之中。在学术表述中,元旦和春节总是被看作分开的甚至对立、冲突的两个节日。从过渡礼仪的理论来看,从人们的生活经验来看,不管多少仪式,“过年”应该只是一个过渡礼仪。本文探讨如何把元旦与春节纳入一个关于年的过渡礼仪来认知,并在此基础上讨论这种对文化因素多来源的新年庆典进行再结构化的知识生产的社会意涵。     

面向东盟的西南省份物流基础设施建设研究

中国与东盟地区的进出口贸易额自2001年以来一直保持每年20%以上的增长速度,这对区域内的物流基础设施建设提出了更高的要求。本文利用显性比较优势指数找出东盟主要国家出口的优势产品,并建立数学模型预测中国-东盟自由贸易区的物流需求量,接着以物流结点和物流通道这两个因素为重点,结合区域经济学里的增长极理论和经济辐射理论,对在云南和广西两省,建立相应的物流结点以及物流通道等相关问题,提出了政策性的建议。

现代汉语＂名1＋（的）＋名2＂定中结构内部的领属关系又可分为典型的领属关系与非典型的领属关系。文章重点探讨了非典型领属关系的各种表现形式,如领属结构中存在隐喻,指称义的虚化等等。     

Is demography destiny? The role of structural and demographic factors in Australis past and future labour supply

Following the release of the Intergenerational Report, the Australian Treasury identified the levers to address the economic effects of demographic ageing as ‘the three Ps’: population, participation and productivity. To date, the first ‘P’, population, has been treated as an exogenous factor, with the common view being that there is very little that the government can do to supplant demographic ageing. Focusing upon labour supply, this paper shows how variation in Australia’s underlying demography can significantly alter Australia’s future labour supply. Although governments cannot redirect the cohort flow component of population ageing, much can be achieved in promoting growth of the labour supply by maintaining or increasing fertility (in the longer term), or increasing targeted migration (in the short to medium term). This paper also decomposes the relative role of cohort flow, changing demography and changing labour force participation on the growth of the labour supply over the past 20 years. Over this period, the entry of the baby boom generation (cohort flow) and increased labour force participation of women accounted for almost all of the growth in the labour force. Changing demography had very little effect. However, Australias future labour supply will not include a large increase in cohort flow (as caused by the baby boomers) or a very large increase in female labour force participation. Regardless of the assumptions used, labour supply growth will be considerably lower in the next and subsequent 20 years, when compared to the previous 20.

« Le plafond de verre dans tous ses éclats ». La féminisation des professions supérieures au xx siècle

The metaphor of the glass ceiling helps one to focus on the often invisible barriers qualified women have to deal with, in order to access to the highest professional positions. This article presents the set of contributions, which clarifies the evolution of this phenomenon in various professions and in various countries. It gives one a more dynamic and less linear view on the top job feminization throughout the 20th century.     

Les transformations actuelles du régime de l'innovation en Wallonie: une analyse des pôles de compétitivité

Notre contribution propose une grille d'analyse du régime wallon de l'innovation et des transformations dont il est l'objet. Nous mettons en évidence les dynamiques qui ont émergé en Wallonie entre les stakeholders de l'innovation et le régime existant, autour de la mise en place des pôles de compétitivité. L'originalité de notre article repose sur l'utilisation de concepts comme le “macro-récit” ou le “paysage socio-technique” pour interpréter les dynamiques d'une politique publique d'innovation et appréhender la complexité de l'univers discursif, institutionnel, historique, culturel, social et technologique des acteurs en présence. Notre analyse montre qu'une telle approche est nécessaire en complément à une évaluation d'impact traditionnelle pour mesurer les chances de succès de l'implémentation durable de la politique wallonne des pôles de compétitivité. Nous concluons que le modèle d'innovation qui transparait relève d'une appréhension systémique des modes de production de connaissance, mais reste cloisonné dans une logique instrumentale de l'innovation, insuffisante et peu réflexive, maintenant à distance la société et certains stakeholders de l'innovation.
