Comparing surveys of victims with police statistics illustrates the differences between lay and professional views of crime. Victims’expectations and the police handling of cases do not always match. The determinants of victims’ decisions to report incidents to the police are briefly summarised; and the ways the police classify victims’account and handle their complaints, examined. This analysis is based on two sets of data: a victimisation survey of a sample of 10?504 persons aged 15 and older, drawn from the Île-de-France Region; the police statistics corresponding to the same area.

The approach adopted by François Xavier de Vaujany draws from “structurationist” research in English-speaking social sciences, a current that shares with the sociology of technology a vision of the contextual and negotiated nature of the links between technical and organizational phenomena. Various trajectories in the way organizations use new information and communication technology can be compared; and the role, examined that specific mediators play in the appropriation process. This approach provides stimulating input in discussions about the impact of new technology on organizational change.     

An Integral Bhattacharyya Type Bound for the Bayes Risk

In this article, some results are derived on stochastic comparisons of the residual and past lifetimes of an (n ? k + 1)-out-of-n system with dependent components. These findings generalize some recent results obtained on systems with independent components and provide some interesting results for a system with dependent components following an Archimedean copula. An illustrative example is provided.     

Performance of the One-Sample Goodness-of-Fit P–P-Plot Length Test

This article studies the performance of the one-sample goodness-of-fit test which is based on the length of the P–P-plot initially introduced in a similar context by Reschenhofer and Bomze (1991 Reschenhofer , E. , Bomze , I. M. ( 1991 ). Length tests for goodness-of-fit . Biometrika 78 : 207 – 216 . [Google Scholar]). The distributional properties of the length test are revised empirically via simulations. In the Monte Carlo power study that follows the length test is shown empirically to have high power under various alternatives considered relative to members of the Cramér–von Mises family of goodness-of-fit tests, and the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test.     

L’évolution démographique et l’automatisation,deux enjeux mondiaux pour l’avenir du travail

Les auteurs s'interrogent sur le nombre des emplois qu'il conviendra de créer demain pour répondre aux besoins engendrés par l'évolution démographique, économique et technologique. Ils font le calcul pour la période 2020-2030, en se fondant sur des projections de croissance démographique et de taux d'activité et en fixant des taux de chômage cibles. Les résultats sont ventilés par âge et par sexe. Les auteurs tiennent compte également de l'influence du niveau de revenu du pays et de l'automatisation. D'après leurs projections, les besoins de création d'emplois atteindront 340 millions en 2020-2030, et ils seront imputables à l'évolution démographique bien plus qu'à l'automatisation.     

Travail et normes comptables internationales: une question de justice sociale

En tant que garante internationale de la justice sociale, l'OIT se trouve confrontée à une révolution comptable mondiale, parachevée par les normes comptables internationales (IAS-IFRS). La comptabilité mesurait autrefois l'économie en rapport avec les capacités et les responsabilités des travailleurs et de ceux qui en disposent. C'est aujourd'hui l'exact opposé: les normes IAS-IFRS ont perdu le sens de la mesure du travail et de l'entreprise en se référant au concept abstrait d'une entité cybernétique capable d'incessantes réorganisations, au prix d'inégalités sans limites. L'auteur en dénonce les incohérences et démontre la nécessité de redonner au travail toute sa valeur comptable.     

Emploi des jeunes et inégalité des chances: en quoi le monde arabe est-il différent?

Le marché du travail du Moyen-Orient et de l'Afrique du Nord se caractérise par un chômage des jeunes généralisé et par un nombre disproportionné de chômeurs parmi les nouveaux diplômés. À partir des enquětes du BIT sur le passage de l'école à la vie active menées en Égypte, Jordanie et Tunisie, les auteurs regardent si cela tient à l'inégalité des chances ou à des caractéristiques structurelles induisant des discordances entre offre et demande de travail. Les principales explications seraient le faible nombre d'emplois qualifiés disponibles et le peu de valeur accordée aux qualifications acquises dans le système de formation professionnelle.     

扬雄《蜀都赋》未入《文选》探赜

《蜀都赋》是扬雄的重要作品之一，其影响广泛而深刻，但萧统等人编录《文选》时将之排除在外。究其原因，其间有萧统的诸种考虑，因为与《文选》中京都赋类的其他作品相比，《蜀都赋》不具备写实性、讽谏性和正统性的特点，而且与《文选》的整体结构也不相符。另外，《文选》的编选者力求精选最能代表梁前文人创作风格的作品。因此，《蜀都赋》最终没能出现在《文选》当中。《蜀都赋》在成文后可能一直以单篇的形式流传，最终被收录在《古文苑》之中。     

Dispositifs d’intermédiation marchande et politique des marchés. La modernisation du marché des fruits et légumes en France, 1950-1980

As this study of experiments with organizing the fruit and vegetable market from the 1950s till the end of the 1970s shows, there were alternatives to the principle of distribution, for instance: the modernization of traditional wholesale marketplaces (carreau) or the establishment of veilings (marchés au cadran) controlled by producers. After exposing the rationale underlying each of these arrangements, the empirical conditions are examined for actually modernizing markets. Attention is drawn to the factors that weigh on players in the market, in particular the tensions, on the one hand, between homogenization and concentration and, on the other hand, the singularity of products and transactions.
