On small sample properties of the mixed regression predictor under misspecification

This paper relaxes the Mittelhammer's (1981) assumption that the value of the true variance is known in the mixed regression model and examines the small sample, properties of the feasible mixed regression predictor under misspecification. The paper shows that the feasible mixed regression predictor is not always superior to the ordinary least squares predictor in terms of the weak mean square error when there exist omitted variables in the model. Further it shows that misspecificstion works favorably for the ordinary least squares predictor.     

A new special class of peb designs

A new class of partially efficiency-balanced designs is introduced from a practical point of view. This new design includes all equireplicated incomplete block designs available in literature as special cases. The fundamental properties of the design are clarified with relation to other block designs.     

Optimal repeated measurements designs for comparing test treatments with a control

A-optimal and mv optimal repeated measurments designs for comparing serveral test treatments with a control are considered. the models considered are basically of two types: without preperides and the cirular model. It is shown known that some known strongly balanced uniform repeated measurements designs can be modified to obtain optimal designs for this problem. Some other methods of finding optimal designs are also given.     

Forward irrelevance

We investigate how to combine marginal assessments about the values that random variables assume separately into a model for the values that they assume jointly, when (i) these marginal assessments are modelled by means of coherent lower previsions and (ii) we have the additional assumption that the random variables are forward epistemically irrelevant to each other. We consider and provide arguments for two possible combinations, namely the forward irrelevant natural extension and the forward irrelevant product, and we study the relationships between them. Our treatment also uncovers an interesting connection between the behavioural theory of coherent lower previsions, and Shafer and Vovk's game-theoretic approach to probability theory.     

On equality of ordinary least squares estimator,best linear unbiased estimator and best linear unbiased predictor in the general linear model

The equality of ordinary least squares estimator (OLSE), best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) and best linear unbiased predictor (BLUP) in the general linear model with new observations is investigated through matrix rank method, some new necessary and sufficient conditions are given.

本文对已往学术界对有关《回回原来》的研究作了较为细致的梳理,并将有关研究从方法上分为实证史学研究和民族民间文学研究两类。同时,对两种不同研究策略作了比较和评价。

十年一觉迷考据,赢得红楼梦魇名:张爱玲的红学研究——港台及海外学人的红学研究综论之七

张爱玲红学观点和思想集中体现在《红楼梦魇》之中,这部著作集中考辨了《红楼梦》的成书问题,旨在申明其《红楼梦》"是创作不是自传"的红学主张。这一研究的终极目标是值得肯定的,即"洗出《红楼梦》的本来面目",彰显《红楼梦》真实的艺术魅力。《红楼梦魇》是对俞平伯文学考证路向的承继,因其更加地贴近《红楼梦》,所以显得多姿多彩。当然,这种"贴近"究竟多大程度上印证了曹雪芹创作时的真实想法,却难以证实。因为"看不懂"的缘故,学者对《红楼梦魇》的批评并不多,其中周汝昌的批评最具个性。     

从新历史主义看史传与中国古典小说的亲和性

中国古典小说与中国史传之间有祭密联系的原因是值得深入研究的。新历史主义揭示的 历史的文学性从史学与文学的根本性质的接近方面更为深刻地揭示了二者的亲缘关系。但新历史主义 也有局限,它没有看到二者在共有的虚构性之外,还有审美性的差异,而这正是中国史传独具的特质,也 是中国古典小说与史传有紧密联系的根本性原因。受到中国史传审美性的影响,中国古典小说呈现出 独特的审美风貌。     

新女性主义的先声——评伍尔夫的小说《一个协会》

英国女作家弗吉尼亚*伍尔夫1921年发表的小说<一个协会>,以一群中、上层阶级妇女对传统性别观念进行反思作为主要情节,探讨了一个极为深刻的主题--女性对男性神话的批评和质疑.作者从女性的视角出发,对统治人类几千年的男性中心社会的政治、文化和历史进行了激烈批判,突出体现了一种20世纪60年代末才开始在西方广为流传的新女性主义思想,使这篇小说成为新女性主义的先声.
