Outlier detection is fundamental to statistical modelling. When there are multiple outliers, many traditional approaches in use are stepwise detection procedures, which can be computationally expensive and ignore stochastic error in the outlier detection process. Outlier detection can be performed by a heteroskedasticity test. In this article, a rapid outlier detection method via multiple heteroskedasticity test based on penalized likelihood approaches is proposed to handle these kinds of problems. The proposed method detects the heteroskedasticity of all data only by one step and estimate coefficients simultaneously. The proposed approach is distinguished from others in that a rapid modelling approach uses a weighted least squares formulation coupled with nonconvex sparsity-including penalization. Furthermore, the proposed approach does not need to construct test statistics and calculate their distributions. A new algorithm is proposed for optimizing penalized likelihood functions. Favourable theoretical properties of the proposed approach are obtained. Our simulation studies and real data analysis show that the newly proposed methods compare favourably with other traditional outlier detection techniques. 相似文献

Limit of detection (LoD) is a common problem in the analysis of data generated by instruments that cannot detect very small concentrations or other quantities, resulting in left-censored measurements. Methods intended for data that are not subject to this problem are often difficult to modify for censoring. We adapt the simulation-extrapolation method, devised originally for fitting models with measurement error, to dealing with LoD in conjunction with a mixture analysis. The application relates the levels of thyroglobulin in individuals with cancer of the thyroid before and after treatment with radioactive iodine I–131. We conclude that the fitted mixture components correspond to levels of effectiveness of the treatment. 相似文献

Since the seminal paper of Ghirardato (1997), it is known that Fubini theorem for non additive measures can be available only for functions as “slice-comonotonic” in the framework of product algebra. Later, inspired by Ghirardato (1997), Chateauneuf and Lefort (2008) obtained some Fubini theorems for non additive measures in the framework of product σ-algebra. In this article, we study Fubini theorem for non additive measures in the framework of g-expectation. Social network monitoring consists of monitoring changes in networks with the aim of detecting significant ones and attempting to identify assignable cause(s) contributing to the occurrence of a change. This paper proposes a method that helps to overcome some of the weaknesses of the existing methods. A Poisson regression model for the probability of the number of communications between network members as a function of vertex attributes is constructed. Multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) and multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM) control charts are used to monitor the network formation process. The results indicate more efficient performance for the MEWMA chart in identifying significant changes. 相似文献

Modern methods for detecting changes in the scale or covariance of multivariate distributions rely primarily on testing for the constancy of the covariance matrix. These depend on higher-order moment conditions, and also do not work well when the dimension of the data is large or even moderate relative to the sample size. In this paper, we propose a nonparametric change point test for multivariate data using rankings obtained from data depth measures. As the data depth of an observation measures its centrality relative to the sample, changes in data depth may signify a change of scale of the underlying distribution, and the proposed test is particularly responsive to detecting such changes. We provide a full asymptotic theory for the proposed test statistic under the null hypothesis that the observations are stable, and natural conditions under which the test is consistent. The finite sample properties are investigated by means of a Monte Carlo simulation, and these along with the theoretical results confirm that the test is robust to heavy tails, skewness and high dimensionality. The proposed methods are demonstrated with an application to structural break detection in the rate of change of pollutants linked to acid rain measured in Turkey lake, a lake in central Ontario, Canada. Our test suggests a change in the rate of acid rain in the late 1980s/early 1990s, which coincides with clean air legislation in Canada and the US. Dermal absorption experiments form an important component in the assessment of risk from exposure to pesticides and other substances. Much dermal absorption data is gathered in rat experiments carried out using a certain standard protocol. Uncertainties in these data arise from many sources and can be quite large. For example, measurements of the systemic absorption of hexaconazole differed by more than an order of magnitude within a single experiment. Two diniconazole studies produced quite different results, due to minor differences in protocol and in chemical formulation. Limits of detection can also prevent accurate measurement when the amounts absorbed are small. These examples illustrate the need for measuring and reporting uncertainties in estimates that are based on these data. The most direct way to estimate uncertainty is to compute the sample standard deviations of replicate measurements. By pooling these estimates across dose and duration groups for which they are similar, the number of degrees of freedom is increased, and more precise confidence intervals can be obtained. In particular, the ratio of upper to lower 95% confidence limits was reduced by as much as ten-fold for hexaconazole, seven-fold for uniconazole, and nearly four-fold for propiconazole. 相似文献
