A variety of statistical approaches have been suggested in the literature for the analysis of bounded outcome scores (BOS). In this paper, we suggest a statistical approach when BOSs are repeatedly measured over time and used as predictors in a regression model. Instead of directly using the BOS as a predictor, we propose to extend the approaches suggested in [16,21,28] to a joint modeling setting. Our approach is illustrated on longitudinal profiles of multiple patients’ reported outcomes to predict the current clinical status of rheumatoid arthritis patients by a disease activities score of 28 joints (DAS28). We propose a simple strategy to construct D-, A-, G- and V-optimal two-level designs for rating-based conjoint studies with large numbers of attributes. In order to simplify the rating task, the designs hold one or more attributes at a constant level in each profile set. Our approach combines orthogonal designs and binary incomplete block designs with equal replication. The authors consider semiparametric efficient estimation of parameters in the conditional mean model for a simple incomplete data structure in which the outcome of interest is observed only for a random subset of subjects but covariates and surrogate (auxiliary) outcomes are observed for all. They use optimal estimating function theory to derive the semiparametric efficient score in closed form. They show that when covariates and auxiliary outcomes are discrete, a Horvitz‐Thompson type estimator with empirically estimated weights is semiparametric efficient. The authors give simulation studies validating the finite‐sample behaviour of the semiparametric efficient estimator and its asymptotic variance; they demonstrate the efficiency of the estimator in realistic settings. 相似文献

The Iowa Gambling Treatment Program (IGTP) amassed participant data for gamblers and concerned others of gamblers over 4 years (1997–2001). Data collection opportunities included: (1) crisis contacts, (2) placement screening, (3) admission, (4) treatment services, (5) discharge, and (6) follow-up. Among followed gamblers, 74% of treatment completers, 49% of substantial treatment completers, and 36% of dropouts and referrals were abstaining from gambling at 6-month follow-up. The reduction in dollars lost to gambling was similar; 85% of treatment completers, 88% of substantial treatment completers, and 65% of others reduced their dollars lost per week. Although more extensive follow-up efforts are needed to properly evaluate the effectiveness of the IGTP, these results suggest that the IGTP shows promise. 相似文献

A survey of a national child protection agency's experience of organized abuse in 1990–1991 found awareness of incidents among 41% of the participants and direct involvement with children in 20%. The 19 cases where there was direct involvement with 61 children from 43 families were categorized by the workers as network (N = 10), ritual (N = 6) and child pornography (N = 3) and came from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The children in the three types presented different profiles from each other and from that of the sexually abused children placed on child protection registers. The children in the network cases were more likely to be boys and abused by non-relatives, the majority of whom were charged and convicted. The children in the ritual cases were the youngest, more likely to be abused by extended family members and most often the subjects of legal protection. The inherent difficulties in fully describing an organized abuse ‘case’ are outlined. 相似文献

在GSS研究领域的文献中,一方面针对决策任务类型的研究缺少利益冲突对决策过程的影响;另一方面实证研究中涉及领导因素的研究较少.本文从GSS特定特征和群体决策任务相互影响的角度出发,考察存在领导的情景下,二者的匹配关系.本文采用2×2因子设计,任务类型以群体中是否存在利益冲突为依据,选取认知冲突(无利益冲突)和混合动机任务(存在利益冲突).决策方式选取了面对面和GSS支持的决策方式.选择了西安交通大学管理学院二年级和三年级的本科生作为实验主体,共做了72组实验,参与者288人.研究结果证实,在GSS情景下,混合动机任务比认知冲突任务拥有更高的群体过程和结果满意度;面对面的决策方式在两种任务类型中均得了更高的决策效率. 相似文献

Though informal fostering, the placement of children in the care of relatives or friends, is common in developing countries little research has been performed to ascertain its implications for the welfare of foster children. Previous studies on fostering are generally concerned with the circumstances that result in fostering. We investigate the relationship between foster care and educational opportunities and achievement. The relationship between fostering and a childs educational achievement is crucial because education has a strong influence on the long-term welfare of the individual. Our findings are unique in that we redefine foster care to exclude children living with their biological father. This redefinition results in significantly different findings on the effect of foster care on the educational investment of the household towards foster boys. Under the new definition foster boys are significantly more likely to be educationally disadvantaged. 相似文献

BackgroundMany studies on the relation between maternal health and infant health, including the effect of structured antenatal education, have been published and expanded over the years.AimInvestigate the impact of various antenatal education programmes on pregnancy outcomes to aid the development of future guidelines related to maternal and foetal health.MethodsBibliographic databases (Cochrane, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Korean Studies Information Service System) were searched up to November 2018, following the PICO criteria: population (pregnant women), intervention (antenatal education), comparison (not specified), and outcome (maternal and foetal outcome including physical or mental health components).FindingsWe included 23 eligible studies consisting of 14 controlled trials and 9 observational studies. The maternal physical outcomes depending on participation in antenatal education were not significantly different; however, the caesarean birth rate was lower in the antenatal education group (relative risk, RR, 0.90; 95% confidence interval, CI, 0.82–0.99), as was the use of epidural anaesthesia (RR, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.74–0.96). The maternal mental health outcomes of stress and self-efficacy significantly improved in the antenatal education group, although there was no difference in anxiety and depression. The foetal outcomes of birth weight or gestational age at birth were also not different between the groups.ConclusionAntenatal education can reduce maternal stress, improve self-efficacy, lower the caesarean birth rate, and decrease the use of epidural anaesthesia; however, there is limited evidence of its effects on maternal or foetal physical outcomes. Therefore, antenatal education should be standardised to elucidate its actual mental and physical health effects. 相似文献
