A genetic algorithm tutorial

This tutorial covers the canonical genetic algorithm as well as more experimental forms of genetic algorithms, including parallel island models and parallel cellular genetic algorithms. The tutorial also illustrates genetic search by hyperplane sampling. The theoretical foundations of genetic algorithms are reviewed, include the schema theorem as well as recently developed exact models of the canonical genetic algorithm.     

Approximating hidden Gaussian Markov random fields

Summary.  Gaussian Markov random-field (GMRF) models are frequently used in a wide variety of applications. In most cases parts of the GMRF are observed through mutually independent data; hence the full conditional of the GMRF, a hidden GMRF (HGMRF), is of interest. We are concerned with the case where the likelihood is non-Gaussian, leading to non-Gaussian HGMRF models. Several researchers have constructed block sampling Markov chain Monte Carlo schemes based on approximations of the HGMRF by a GMRF, using a second-order expansion of the log-density at or near the mode. This is possible as the GMRF approximation can be sampled exactly with a known normalizing constant. The Markov property of the GMRF approximation yields computational efficiency.The main contribution in the paper is to go beyond the GMRF approximation and to construct a class of non-Gaussian approximations which adapt automatically to the particular HGMRF that is under study. The accuracy can be tuned by intuitive parameters to nearly any precision. These non-Gaussian approximations share the same computational complexity as those which are based on GMRFs and can be sampled exactly with computable normalizing constants. We apply our approximations in spatial disease mapping and model-based geostatistical models with different likelihoods, obtain procedures for block updating and construct Metropolized independence samplers.

Complete designs with blocks of maximal multiplicity

The set of distinct blocks of a block design is known as its support. We construct complete designs with parameters v(?7), k=3, λ=v ? 2 which contain a block of maximal multiplicity and with support size $\text{b}{}^1\text{= (}{}^{\mathrm{v}}{}_3\text{) ? 4(v ? 2)}$. Any complete design which contains such a block, and has parameters v, k, λ as above, must be supported on at most (^v₃) ? 4(v ? 2) blocks. Attention is given to complete designs because of their direct relationship to simple random sampling.

A survey of nested designs

A nest with parameters (r,k,λ)→(r′,k′,λ′) is a BIBD on (b,v,r,k,λ) where each block has a distinguished sublock of cardinality k, the sublocks forming a (b,v,r,k,λ)-design.These designs are ‘nested’ in the sense of W.T. Federer (1972), who recommended the use of these designs for the sequential addition of periods in marketing experiments in order to retain Youden design properties as rows are added. Note that for a Youden design, the b columns and v treatments are in an SBIBD arrangement with parameters v=b, k=r, and λ.     

基于属性水平的品牌来源国作用机制研究——信息处理的视角

制造和质量控制技术在全球范围的转移,导致制造国影响减弱,这对传统原产地研究提出了新的挑战。本研究在区分品牌来源国和产品制造国的基础上,通过把产品属性划分为搜索属性和信任属性,探索品牌来源国如何在属性评价层面上影响消费者。本研究发现,品牌来源国主要在信任属性上影响消费者对产品的评价。不仅如此,与新手型消费者相比,专家型消费者评价信任属性时更多地受到品牌来源国刻板印象的影响。     

论南疆民族地区跨越式发展的“三性

新疆的跨越式发展是实现与全国同步建成小康社会的战略选择,而南疆又是其重要的组成部分。南疆民族地区是指新疆天山以南的五地州,包括阿克苏、巴州、喀什、和田和克州,是以少数民族聚居为主体的区域。笔者主要是从南疆跨越式发展的逻辑性和现实性的角度进行分析,进而论证南疆跨越式发展的必然性。
