Demystifying reflective practice: Using the DATA model to enhance evaluators’ professional activities

Reflective practice (RP), one of six essential competency domains in evaluation identified by Stevahn, King, Ghere, and Minnema (2005), refers to thinking critically about one's evaluation practice, alone or with other people, and using critical insights to improve one's practice. Currently, evaluators have minimal guidance in navigating this essential professional competency, professed to be a necessary part of their practice. This article focuses on how RP can serve as a tool for evaluators through the use of the “DATA” integrated RP framework, developed by Peters, 1991, Peters, 2009. DATA is an acronym with each letter standing for a different step in the process of reflective practice. The “D” step of the acronym focuses on (D)escribing what is or has been happening in practice. The “A” step refers to (A)nalyzing the current state of practice—why is this happening the way it is? The “T” concentrates on a practice-oriented form of (T)heorizing, which comes from analysis and serves as a basis for the resulting (A)ct. The last “A” focuses on the specifics of an action plan to change one's evaluation practice in light of the practical theory developed through theorizing. This paper describes the DATA model and introduces the application of the framework in a practice context.

一种大量存在于上古汉语词汇中的“大名冠小名”偏正结构的主要组合特点为前语素是事物类名，后语素是其下位小名。根据原型论对这一独特构词法“N＋X”式的内部组合特征的深层分析和历时发展状况的研究表明，认为其在秦汉后就丧失生命力而消亡的观点有待商榷。     

沈阳市重型文化广场人性化空间调查及优化

城市文化广场是城市精神生活的象征,为人们提供休息与交往的空间,但是在中国城市广场建设中存在忽略市民的实际需求,出现了很多非人性化设计的问题。以重型文化广场为调查对象,分别选取工作日、休息日中天气晴好的日子进行多次实地考察,运用使用状况评价（POE）的研究方法,以发放调查问卷和访谈等形式对广场使用者的基本情况和人性化空间满意度进行调查和分析。结果表明,重型文化广场存在缺少停留空间、植物景观单调、座椅设置不合理、服务设施不完善、停车位数量不足等问题,针对这些问题提出创造宜人的空间尺度,植物优化配置,设置良好的休憩场所,注重人性化设计细节等建议。     

西北地区农产品供给质量评价指标体系构建研究

西北地区推进农业供给侧结构性改革,必须在坚持农产品“做大”的基础上,找到进一步“做强”的有效途径。根据国内外供给质量评价的相关研究,结合我国供给侧结构性改革指导思想和农产品供给质量提升的方向,有针对性地提出西北地区农产品供给质量的提升路径和政策建议,为政府部门出台相关规划、政策、战略提供理论支撑和研究支持。     

Performance: self as the principal evaluator

The paper proposes an alternative way of looking at performance management by placing the 'performer' in the leading role of evaluator. The proposition is rooted in the evidence that, when performance is primarily evaluated by someone other than 'self', this robs individuals of a sense of responsibility for their own work performance and reduces the quality of both process and output. The paper suggests that learning is the premier skill at the root of performance improvement. Further, a systems view of the organization is essential if employees are to be given the freedom to self-evaluate.     

新疆民营企业创新活力评价的实证研究?

创新是民营企业发展的驱动力。但当前管理学界对于民营企业创新活力的研究较为薄弱。我们认为影响民营企业创新活力的三个关键因素是企业家、企业文化和创新群体,在此基础上能够构建由3个一级指标和10个二级指标构成的民营企业创新活力的评价指标体系。通过对新疆80家民营企业进行实地调研获取相关数据,利用 LISREL 软件进行验证性因子分析,模型结果良好,证明了创新文化对于提升民营企业创新活力的重要性。

克孜尔壁画中的弹拨乐器,主要有箜篌、琵琶和阮咸等种类。它们在乐队组合中的构成、功能也是多样的,有的是以独奏的形式出现,有的以独奏的形式为舞蹈伴奏,有的与吹奏乐器组合,还有的与吹奏乐器、打击乐器组合为舞蹈伴奏。它们的出现几乎都伴有吹奏乐器。在大、中型乐队中,与吹奏乐器和打击乐器比例均衡,它们共同构成了左右对称式乐队。这样在音响上有较平衡的听觉效果。     

Concept Mapping to Measure Outcomes in Study Abroad Programs1

Faculty efforts to measure outcomes in study abroad programs typically fall short of current expectations for measurable results and increased competencies. Part of the problem stems from the dual challenge of conducting rigorous, objective assessment of these programs without losing the rich, subjective meaning of the cultural experience for student growth and development. The concept mapping method developed by Trochim is a potentially powerful tool for overcoming this challenge, allowing evaluators to utilize qualitative and quantitative research designs simultaneously. This paper illustrates the use of the method in an American social work study abroad program based in Mexico.
