Pulak and Al-Sultan presented a rectifying inspection plan applying in the determination of optimum process mean. However, they did not point out whether the non-conforming items in the sample of accepted lot are replaced or eliminated from the lot and neglected the quality loss within specification limits. In this paper, we further propose the modified Pulak and Al-Sultan model with quadratic quality loss function. There are four cases considered in the modified model: (1) the non-conforming items in the sample of accepted lot are neither replaced nor eliminated from the lot; (2) the non-conforming items in the sample of accepted lot are not replaced but are eliminated from the lot; (3) the non-conforming items in the sample of accepted lot are replaced by conforming ones; (4) the non-conforming items in the sample of accepted lot are replaced by non-inspected items. The numerical results and sensitivity analysis of parameters show that their solutions are slightly different. 相似文献

Two-phase case–control studies cope with the problem of confounding by obtaining required additional information for a subset (phase 2) of all individuals (phase 1). Nowadays, studies with rich phase 1 data are available where only few unmeasured confounders need to be obtained in phase 2. The extended conditional maximum likelihood (ECML) approach in two-phase logistic regression is a novel method to analyse such data. Alternatively, two-phase case–control studies can be analysed by multiple imputation (MI), where phase 2 information for individuals included in phase 1 is treated as missing. We conducted a simulation of two-phase studies, where we compared the performance of ECML and MI in typical scenarios with rich phase 1. Regarding exposure effect, MI was less biased and more precise than ECML. Furthermore, ECML was sensitive against misspecification of the participation model. We therefore recommend MI to analyse two-phase case–control studies in situations with rich phase 1 data. 相似文献

Missing data methods, maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) and multiple imputation (MI), for longitudinal questionnaire data were investigated via simulation. Predictive mean matching (PMM) was applied at both item and scale levels, logistic regression at item level and multivariate normal imputation at scale level. We investigated a hybrid approach which is combination of MLE and MI, i.e. scales from the imputed data are eliminated if all underlying items were originally missing. Bias and mean square error (MSE) for parameter estimates were examined. ML seemed to provide occasionally the best results in terms of bias, but hardly ever on MSE. All imputation methods at the scale level and logistic regression at item level hardly ever showed the best performance. The hybrid approach is similar or better than its original MI. The PMM-hybrid approach at item level demonstrated the best MSE for most settings and in some cases also the smallest bias. 相似文献

Graphical models capture the conditional independence structure among random variables via existence of edges among vertices. One way of inferring a graph is to identify zero partial correlation coefficients, which is an effective way of finding conditional independence under a multivariate Gaussian setting. For more general settings, we propose kernel partial correlation which extends partial correlation with a combination of two kernel methods. First, a nonparametric function estimation is employed to remove effects from other variables, and then the dependence between remaining random components is assessed through a nonparametric association measure. The proposed approach is not only flexible but also robust under high levels of noise owing to the robustness of the nonparametric approaches. 相似文献

This article focuses on the conditional density of a scalar response variable given a random variable taking values in a semimetric space. The local linear estimators of the conditional density and its derivative are considered. It is assumed that the observations form a stationary α-mixing sequence. Under some regularity conditions, the joint asymptotic normality of the estimators of the conditional density and its derivative is established. The result confirms the prospect in Rachdi et al. (2014) and can be applied in time-series analysis to make predictions and build confidence intervals. The finite-sample behavior of the estimator is investigated by simulations as well. 相似文献

We consider robust Bayesian prediction of a function of unobserved data based on observed data under an asymmetric loss function. Under a general linear-exponential posterior risk function, the posterior regret gamma-minimax (PRGM), conditional gamma-minimax (CGM), and most stable (MS) predictors are obtained when the prior distribution belongs to a general class of prior distributions. We use this general form to find the PRGM, CGM, and MS predictors of a general linear combination of the finite population values under LINEX loss function on the basis of two classes of priors in a normal model. Also, under the general ε-contamination class of prior distributions, the PRGM predictor of a general linear combination of the finite population values is obtained. Finally, we provide a real-life example to predict a finite population mean and compare the estimated risk and risk bias of the obtained predictors under the LINEX loss function by a simulation study. 相似文献

‘Quality’ and ‘performance’ have become defining concepts for policymakers and health‐care systems alike. Yet whilst these principles are of fundamental importance, their practical implementation and assurance are far from straightforward. This commentary analyses the difficulties faced in enhancing quality and performance in the English NHS. Many recent initiatives have been driven through incentives and external auditing of the professionals providing health care on the frontline. Drawing on recent literature and research findings, we argue that this checking‐based ‘audit culture’ is fundamentally flawed in driving quality and performance. Many targets and measures are too crude to reflect important aspects affecting patient outcomes and therefore these frameworks lack legitimacy amongst professionals. An alternative, trust‐based model is proposed – one more capable of acknowledging the meaning, complexity and specificities inherent to professional work. Quality mechanisms developed locally by professionals are able to produce the legitimacy crucial for their effectiveness. It is argued that the normative obligation of approaches based on conditional trust is a more compelling incentive towards good practice than targets and sanctions. This governance by ‘the social’ is able to motivate a more holistically enlightened and consistent reflexivity towards practice, though it is only able to flourish in the absence of purposive‐rational systems. 相似文献

Conditional cash transfers (CCTs) are often being promoted for their simultaneous advantages of short‐term income protection and long‐term human capital investments. Yet, existing evaluations have largely failed to test the underlying programme theory, and few empirical case studies have explored inherent contradictions and ambiguous consequences of this hybrid approach. To further understand the programmes' social policy implications, this study identifies and analyzes such ambiguities and paradoxical consequences in the case of Uruguay's CCT‐programme, Asignaciones Familiares (AFAM). Drawing on qualitative data from interviews with beneficiaries and members of the commission who designed the programme, this study reveals major paradoxes in AFAM's design and implementation caused by various endogenous factors. Relevant to social policy in general, and CCT‐evaluations in particular, findings also indicate that the hybrid social assistance approach may have perverse effects on the programme's twin objectives. 相似文献

AbstractTime averaging has been the traditional approach to handle mixed sampling frequencies. However, it ignores information possibly embedded in high frequency. Mixed data sampling (MIDAS) regression models provide a concise way to utilize the additional information in high-frequency variables. In this paper, we propose a specification test to choose between time averaging and MIDAS models, based on a Durbin-Wu-Hausman test. In particular, a set of instrumental variables is proposed and theoretically validated when the frequency ratio is large. As a result, our method tends to be more powerful than existing methods, as reconfirmed through the simulations. 相似文献
