Some variance reduction techniques utilizing the total hazard are developed to estimate the average run lengths of the cumulative sum charts through simulation when the process follows a general probability distribution. Particularly, we propose the hazard estimator and the cycle estimator. Simulation results are shown for the exponential case and these estimators are compared with the raw simulation estimator. Applicability to multivariate CUSUM schemes is briefly discussed in the conclusion.  相似文献

It is often encountered in the literature that the log-likelihood ratios (LLR) of some distributions (e.g. the student t distribution) are not monotonic. Existing charts for monitoring such processes may suffer from the fact that the average run length (ARL) curve is a discontinuous function of control limit. It implies that some pre-specified in-control (IC) ARLs of these charts may not be reached. To guarantee the false alarm rate of a control chart lower than the nominal level, a larger IC ARL is usually suggested in the literature. However, the large IC ARL may weaken the performance of a control chart when the process is out-of-control (OC), compared with a just right IC ARL. To overcome it, we adjust the LLR to be a monotonic one in this paper. Based on it, a multiple CUSUM chart is developed to detect range shifts in IC distribution. Theoretical result in this paper ensures the continuity of its ARL curve. Numerical results show our proposed chart performs well under the range shifts, especially under the large shifts. In the end, a real data example is utilized to illustrate our proposed chart.  相似文献

In practice, different practitioners will use different Phase I samples to estimate the process parameters, which will lead to different Phase II control chart's performance. Researches refer to this variability as between-practitioners-variability of control charts. Since between-practitioners-variability is important in the design of the CUSUM median chart with estimated process parameters, the standard deviation of average run length (SDARL) will be used to study its properties. It is shown that the CUSUM median chart requires a larger amount of Phase I samples to sufficiently reduce the variation in the in-control ARL of the CUSUM median chart. Considering the limitation of the amount of the Phase I samples, a bootstrap approach is also used here to adjust the control limits of the CUSUM median chart. Comparisons are made for the CUSUM and Shewhart median charts with estimated parameters when using the adjusted- and unadjusted control limits and some conclusions are made.  相似文献

Most of the times, the observations related to the quality characteristic of a process do not need to be independent. In such cases, control charts based on the assumption of independence of the observations are not appropriate. When the characteristic under study is qualitative, Markov model serves as a simple model to account for the dependency of the observations. For this purpose, we develop an attribute control chart under 100% inspection for a Markov dependent process by controlling the error probabilities. This chart consists of two sub-charts. For a given sample, depending upon the state of the last observation of previous sample (if any), one of these two will be used. Optimal values of the design parameters of the control chart are obtained. Chart’s performance is studied by using its capability (probability) of detecting a shift in process parameters.  相似文献

This article studies a unique feature of the binomial CUSUM chart in which the difference (d t ?d 0) is replaced by (d t ?d 0)2 in the formulation of the cumulative sum C t (where d t and d 0 are the actual and in-control numbers of nonconforming units, respectively, in a sample). Performance studies are reported and the results reveal that this new feature is able to increase the detection effectiveness when fraction nonconforming p becomes three to four times as large as the in-control value p 0. The design of the new binomial CUSUM chart is presented along with the calculation of the in-control and out-of-control Average Run Lengths (ARL0 and ARL1).  相似文献

Modern methods for detecting changes in the scale or covariance of multivariate distributions rely primarily on testing for the constancy of the covariance matrix. These depend on higher-order moment conditions, and also do not work well when the dimension of the data is large or even moderate relative to the sample size. In this paper, we propose a nonparametric change point test for multivariate data using rankings obtained from data depth measures. As the data depth of an observation measures its centrality relative to the sample, changes in data depth may signify a change of scale of the underlying distribution, and the proposed test is particularly responsive to detecting such changes. We provide a full asymptotic theory for the proposed test statistic under the null hypothesis that the observations are stable, and natural conditions under which the test is consistent. The finite sample properties are investigated by means of a Monte Carlo simulation, and these along with the theoretical results confirm that the test is robust to heavy tails, skewness and high dimensionality. The proposed methods are demonstrated with an application to structural break detection in the rate of change of pollutants linked to acid rain measured in Turkey lake, a lake in central Ontario, Canada. Our test suggests a change in the rate of acid rain in the late 1980s/early 1990s, which coincides with clean air legislation in Canada and the US. Strong mixing property holds for a broad class of linear and nonlinear time series models such as Auto-Regressive Moving Average Processes and Generalized Auto-Regressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity Processes models. In this article, we study correlation structure of strong mixing sequences, and some asymptotic properties are presented. We also present a new method for detecting change point in correlation structure of strong mixing sequences, and present a nonparametric sequential analysis for detecting changes named cumulative sum test statistic for this. Asymptotic consistency of this test statistics is shown. This method is applied to simulated data of some linear and nonlinear models and power of the test is evaluated. For linear models, it is shown that this method has a better performance in comparison to Berkes et al. (2009 Berkes, I., Gombay, E., Horvath, L. (2009). ABSTRACT

It is an increasingly common practice to monitor several related quality characteristics of a product or process using a multivariate control chart procedure. Several types of multivariate control charts, including Hotelling's χ 2 and T 2 control charts, have been developed in attempts to improve monitoring by using the correlation structure that exists between quality characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the assumptions made regarding the out-of-control process shift in the economic design of multivariate control charts and to address their consequences. We study the average run length (ARL) properties of the χ 2 control chart using a numerical example and show that this chart can perform ineffectively under the assumed out-of-control conditions when designed using the economic approach.
