Nonlinear regression models with spherically symmetric error vectors and a single nonlinear parameter are considered. On the basis of a new geometric approach, exact one- and two-sided tests and confidence regions for the nonlinear parameter are derived in the cases of known and unknown error variances. A geometric measure representation formula is used to determine the power functions of the tests if the error variance is known and to derive different lower bounds for the power function of a one-sided test in the case of an unknown error variance. The latter can be done quite effectively by constructing and measuring several balls inside the critical region. A numerical study compares the results for different density generating functions of the error distribution.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The log-logistic distribution is commonly used to model lifetime data. We propose a wider distribution, named the exponentiated log-logistic geometric distribution, based on a double activation approach. We obtain the quantile function, ordinary moments, and generating function. The method of maximum likelihood is used to estimate the model parameters. We propose a new extended regression model based on the logarithm of the exponentiated log-logistic geometric distribution. This regression model can be very useful in the analysis of real data and could provide better fits than other special regression models. The potentiality of the new models is illustrated by means of two applications to real lifetime data sets.  相似文献

Functional data analysis involves the extension of familiar statistical procedures such as principal components analysis, linear modelling, and canonical correlation analysis to data where the raw observation xi is a function. An essential preliminary to a functional data analysis is often the registration or alignment of salient curve features by suitable monotone transformations hi of the argument t , so that the actual analyses are carried out on the values xi { hi ( t )}. This is referred to as dynamic time warping in the engineering literature. In effect, this conceptualizes variation among functions as being composed of two aspects: horizontal and vertical, or domain and range. A nonparametric function estimation technique is described for identifying the smooth monotone transformations hi , and is illustrated by data analyses. A second-order linear stochastic differential equation is proposed to model these components of variation.  相似文献

In this article, we propose new estimators of location. These estimators select a robust set around the geometric median, enlarge it, and compute the (iterative) weighted mean from it. By doing so, we obtain a robust estimator in the sense of the breakdown point, which uses more observations than standard estimators. We apply our approach on the concepts of boxplot and bagplot. We work in a general normed vector space and allow multi-valued estimators.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce a two-state homogeneous Markov chain and define a geometric distribution related to this Markov chain. We define also the negative binomial distribution similar to the classical case and call it NB related to interrupted Markov chain. The new binomial distribution is related to the interrupted Markov chain. Some characterization properties of the geometric distributions are given. Recursion formulas and probability mass functions for the NB distribution and the new binomial distribution are derived.  相似文献
