Box-Behnken designs are popular with experimenters who wish to estimate a second-order model, due to their having three levels, their simplicity and their high efficiency for the second-order model. However, there are situations in which the model is inadequate due to lack of fit caused by higher-order terms. These designs have little ability to estimate third-order terms. Using combinations of factorial points, axial points, and complementary design points, we augment these designs and develop catalogues of third-order designs for 3–12 factors. These augmented designs can be used to estimate the parameters of a third-order response surface model. Since the aim is to make the most of a situation in which the experiment was designed for an inadequate model, the designs are clearly suboptimal and not rotatable for the third-order model, but can still provide useful information.  相似文献

We consider response adaptive designs when the binary response may be misclassified and extend relevant results in the literature. We derive the optimal allocations under various objectives and examine the relationship between the power of statistical test and the variability of treatment allocation. Asymptotically best response adaptive randomization procedures and effects of misclassification on the optimal allocations are investigated. A real-life clinical trial is also discussed to illustrate our proposed approach.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the problem of estimating the population mean of a study variable in the presence of non-response in a mail survey design. We introduce calibrated estimators of the population mean of a study variable in the presence of a known auxiliary variable. Using simulation the proposed calibrated estimators of population mean are compared to the Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) estimator under different situations for fixed cost as well for fixed sample size. The results are then extended for the use of multi-auxiliary information and stratified random sampling. We consider the problem of estimating the average total family income in the US in the presence of known auxiliary information on total income per person, age of the person, and poverty. We compute the relative efficiency of the proposed estimator over the Hansen and Hurwitz (1946) estimator through the use of large real datasets. Results are also presented for sub-populations consisting of whites, blacks, others, and two or more races in addition to considering them together in a population.  相似文献

Abstract

Repeated measurement designs are widely used in medicine, pharmacology, animal sciences and psychology. If there is a restriction on the total number of treatments, some experimental units can receive on the total length of time while some experimental units can remain in the trial, then repeated measurements designs with unequal period sizes should be used. In this article, some infinite series are developed to generate the minimal balanced repeated measurement designs in periods of three different sizes p1, p2 and p3, where 2?≤?p3?<?p2 ≤ 10 and p2?<?p1.  相似文献

Fourth order rotatable designs are discussed. A general k, design moment inequality is given. The variance function for two-factor designs is derived, and plotted for a specific design. A minimum point set requirement for two-factor designs is established, thus enabling one to form an infinity of such designs. Some difficulties in obtaining deLigns for k>2 are described. This paper describes an efficient algorithm for the construction of optimal or near-optimal resolvable incomplete block designs (IBDs) for any number of treatments v < 100. The performance of this algorithm is evaluated against known lattice designs and the 414 or-designs of Patterson & Williams [36]. For the designs under study, it appears that our algorithm is about equally effective as the simulated annealing algorithm of Venables & Eccleston [42]. An example of the use of our algorithm to construct the row (or column) components of resolvable row-column designs is given.  相似文献

An obvious strategy for obtaining a Doptimal foldover design for p factors at two levels each in 2N runs is to fold a Doptimal main effects plan. We show that this strategy works except when N = 4t + 2 and s is even In that case there are two different classes of D-optimal main effects plans with N runs that have the same determinant. We propose flexible group sequential designs using type I and type II error probability spending functions. The proposed designs preserve the overall significance level and power and allow the repeated testing to be perloimed at a flexible schedule. Computational methods are described. Equirephcate variance-balanced block designs possess many desirable properties and include several important subclasses of designs, such as balanced incomplete block designs. However, while attention has been paid to the derivation of properties and the construction of these designs, methods of analyzing experiments using these designs have not been developed completely. Thus, we consider models appropriate to these designs, construct test statistics for basic hypotheses and derive the distributions for these statistics. Four additive models that include all of the possible combinations of fixed and random effects are examined. The analyses are generalizations of the analyses for balanced incomplete block designs, and include the intra-block, intra-treatment and inter-block analyses, Estimators of fixed treatment effects and their distributions also are given.  相似文献
