A new nonparametric estimator is proposed for the copula function of a bivariate survival function for data subject to random right-censoring. We consider two censoring models: univariate and copula censoring. We show strong consistency and we obtain an i.i.d. representation for the copula estimator. In a simulation study we compare the new estimator to the one of Gribkova and Lopez [Nonparametric copula estimation under bivariate censoring; doi:10.1111/sjos.12144].  相似文献

The accelerated failure time (AFT) model is an important regression tool to study the association between failure time and covariates. In this paper, we propose a robust weighted generalized M (GM) estimation for the AFT model with right-censored data by appropriately using the Kaplan–Meier weights in the GM–type objective function to estimate the regression coefficients and scale parameter simultaneously. This estimation method is computationally simple and can be implemented with existing software. Asymptotic properties including the root-n consistency and asymptotic normality are established for the resulting estimator under suitable conditions. We further show that the method can be readily extended to handle a class of nonlinear AFT models. Simulation results demonstrate satisfactory finite sample performance of the proposed estimator. The practical utility of the method is illustrated by a real data example.  相似文献

In single-arm clinical trials with survival outcomes, the Kaplan–Meier estimator and its confidence interval are widely used to assess survival probability and median survival time. Since the asymptotic normality of the Kaplan–Meier estimator is a common result, the sample size calculation methods have not been studied in depth. An existing sample size calculation method is founded on the asymptotic normality of the Kaplan–Meier estimator using the log transformation. However, the small sample properties of the log transformed estimator are quite poor in small sample sizes (which are typical situations in single-arm trials), and the existing method uses an inappropriate standard normal approximation to calculate sample sizes. These issues can seriously influence the accuracy of results. In this paper, we propose alternative methods to determine sample sizes based on a valid standard normal approximation with several transformations that may give an accurate normal approximation even with small sample sizes. In numerical evaluations via simulations, some of the proposed methods provided more accurate results, and the empirical power of the proposed method with the arcsine square-root transformation tended to be closer to a prescribed power than the other transformations. These results were supported when methods were applied to data from three clinical trials.  相似文献

The random censorship model (RCM) is commonly used in biomedical science for modeling life distributions. The popular non-parametric Kaplan–Meier estimator and some semiparametric models such as Cox proportional hazard models are extensively discussed in the literature. In this paper, we propose to fit the RCM with the assumption that the actual life distribution and the censoring distribution have a proportional odds relationship. The parametric model is defined using Marshall–Olkin's extended Weibull distribution. We utilize the maximum-likelihood procedure to estimate model parameters, the survival distribution, the mean residual life function, and the hazard rate as well. The proportional odds assumption is also justified by the newly proposed bootstrap Komogorov–Smirnov type goodness-of-fit test. A simulation study on the MLE of model parameters and the median survival time is carried out to assess the finite sample performance of the model. Finally, we implement the proposed model on two real-life data sets.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we propose modified spline estimators for nonparametric regression models with right-censored data, especially when the censored response observations are converted to synthetic data. Efficient implementation of these estimators depends on the set of knot points and an appropriate smoothing parameter. We use three algorithms, the default selection method (DSM), myopic algorithm (MA), and full search algorithm (FSA), to select the optimum set of knots in a penalized spline method based on a smoothing parameter, which is chosen based on different criteria, including the improved version of the Akaike information criterion (AICc), generalized cross validation (GCV), restricted maximum likelihood (REML), and Bayesian information criterion (BIC). We also consider the smoothing spline (SS), which uses all the data points as knots. The main goal of this study is to compare the performance of the algorithm and criteria combinations in the suggested penalized spline fits under censored data. A Monte Carlo simulation study is performed and a real data example is presented to illustrate the ideas in the paper. The results confirm that the FSA slightly outperforms the other methods, especially for high censoring levels.  相似文献

The area between two survival curves is an intuitive test statistic for the classical two‐sample testing problem. We propose a bootstrap version of it for assessing the overall homogeneity of these curves. Our approach allows ties in the data as well as independent right censoring, which may differ between the groups. The asymptotic distribution of the test statistic as well as of its bootstrap counterpart are derived under the null hypothesis, and their consistency is proven for general alternatives. We demonstrate the finite sample superiority of the proposed test over some existing methods in a simulation study and illustrate its application by a real‐data example.  相似文献

This article studies the weak convergence of the residual median process (i) when the observations follow a strictly stationary ø-mixing process and (ii) when hte observations are randomly censored. In both these cased the residual median prodeas converges weakly to a gaussian process.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The paper deals with an improvement of the well-known Kaplan–Meier estimator of survival function when the censoring mechanism is random and independent of the failure times. Small sample size properties of the new estimator, as well as the original Kaplan–Meier estimator are inspected by means of Monte Carlo simulations. It follows from the simulations that the proposed estimator prevails with respect to some basic statistical characteristics.  相似文献

The concepts of relative risk and hazard ratio are generalized for ordinary ordinal and continuous response variables, respectively. Under the generalized concepts, the Cox proportional hazards model with the Breslow's and Efron's methods can be regarded as generalizations of the Mantel–Haenszel estimator for dealing with broader types of covariates and responses. When ordinal responses can be regarded as discretized observations of a hypothetical continuous variable, the estimated relative risks from the Cox model reflect the associations between the responses and covariates. Examples are given to illustrate the generalized concepts and wider applications of the Cox model and the Kaplan–Meier estimator.  相似文献
