Kolmogorov-Smirnov Type Test-Statistics For The Gamma,Erlang-2 And The Inverse Gaussian Distributions When The Parameters Are Unknown.

Critical values are presented for the Kolmogorov-Smirnov type test statistics for the following three cases: (i) the gamma distribution when both the scale and the shape parameters are not known, (ii) the scale parameter of the gamma distribution is not known and (iii) the inverse Gaussian distribution when both the parameters are unknown. This study was motivated by the necessity to fit the gamma, the Erlang-2 and the inverse Gaussian distributions to the interpurchase times of individuals for coffee in marketing research.     

Tests for symmetry about an unknown value based on the empirical distribution function

A class of Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Cramér-von Mises type statistics for testing symmetry about an unknown value is described. These statistics are not distribution-free, however, and, indeed, are not readily amenable to calculation. A linear rank statistic analog of the first component of the Cramér-von Mises type statistic is investigated. Asymptotic non-null properties of these procedures in the normal case are studied, and an efficiency comparison of the Cramér-vonMises statistic, the linear rank statistic analog, the modified Wil-coxon statistic, and the likelihood ratio test is reported.     

Computation of the percentage points and the power for the two-sided Kolmogorov-Smirnov one sample test

Two recursive schemes are presented for the calculation of the probabilityP(g(x)≤S _n (x)≤h(x) for allx∈®), whereS _n is the empirical distribution function of a sample from a continuous distribution andh, g are continuous and isotone functions. The results are specialized for the calculation of the distribution and the corresponding percentage points of the test statistic of the two-sided Kolmogorov-Smirnov one sample test. The schemes allow the calculation of the power of the test too. Finally an extensive tabulation of percentage points for the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is given.

我国耕地流失中的政府行为研究

我国政府在耕地向建设用地流转过程中扮演了重要的角色。虽然中央政府制定了一系列政策限制耕地向建设用地盲目流转,但政策执行的效果相当有限。造成这种情况的直接原因是政府部门之间的利益冲突,而根本原因则是政府机构的"内在性"。因此,防止耕地盲目流转不仅需要改变当前激励地方政府将耕地向建设用地流转的诱因,改革土地管理制度和完善征地制度,而且需要规范地方政府行为,完善地方政府官员的考评制度。     

Choices at various levels of uncertainty: An experimental test of the restated diversification theorem

Our “Restated diversification theorem” (Skogh and Wu, 2005) says that risk-averse agents may pool risks efficiently without assignment of subjective probabilities to outcomes, also at genuine uncertainty. It suffices that the agents presume that they face equal risks. Here, the theorem is tested in an experiment where the probability of loss, and the information about this probability, varies. The result supports our theorem. Moreover, it tentatively supports an evolutionary theory of the insurance industry—starting with mutual pooling at uncertainty, turning into insurance priced ex ante when actuarial information is available.     

A modified Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for a rectangular distribution with unknown parameters: Computation of the distribution of the test statistic

A recursive scheme for the calculation of the distribution of the test statistic of a modified Kolmogorov-Smirnov-test for a rectangular distribution with unknown parameters is given.     

Statistical Analysis of Coins Lost in Circulation

The loss rate of coins in the Israeli pound (IL) series issued in Israel in 1960–1979 is estimated, and the connection between it and the characteristics of the coins is examined. A lifetime model with time-dependent hazard rate and an estimation procedure for the model parameters are presented. The estimates are then used to forecast the number of coins surviving in circulation and the median lifetime of different denominations. The data are random samples drawn from the coins in circulation at a point in time, the sampled coins being sorted by date of issue.

Estimators of shift based on statistics of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov type

This paper is concerned with the estimation of a shift parameter δ_o, based on some nonnegative functional Hg₁ of the pair (D^δ_N(x), f?^δ_N(x)), where D^δ_N(x) = K_N/b {F_2,n(x)—F_1,m (x + δ)}, +^δ_N(x) = {mF_1,m (x + δ) + nF_2,n(x)}/N, where F_1,m and F_2,n are the empirical distribution functions of two independent random samples (N = m + n), and where K²_N = mn/N. First an estimator δ_N, is defined as a value of δ minimizing a functional H of the type of H₁. A second estimator δ¹_N is also defined which is a linearized version of the first. Finite and asymptotic properties of these estimators are considered. It is also shown that most well-known test statistics of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov type are particular cases of such functionals H₁. The asymptotic distribution and the asymptotic efficiency of some estimators are given.
