构建科学的教坛新秀评选体系

青年教师是高校教学科研的主力军,培养和造就一批高素质的青年教师队伍是推进高校素质教育的一项重要的战略任务,但他们中有许多人存在人文精神缺失及修养不足的问题,对高校的改革与发展产生了消极影响。为切实加强青年教师队伍建设,高校在广大青年教师中开展“教坛新秀”评选活动,以此激励广大青年教师的荣誉感和责任感,促进师德水平和教育教学质量水平的提高,意义深远。从评选理念出发,对教坛新秀的评选指标、评选条件、评选方法做了微观定位,以期为构建科学的教坛新秀评选体系提供参考。     

Predicting body fat using weight–height indices

While body fat is the most accurate measure of obesity, its measurement requires special equipment that can be costly and time consuming to operate. Attention has thus typically focused on the easier to calculate body mass index (BMI). However, the ability of BMI to accurately identify obesity has been increasingly questioned. This paper focuses attention on whether more general body mass indices are appropriate measures of body fat. Using a data set of body fat, height, and weight measurements, general models are estimated which nest a wide variety of weight–height indices as special cases. In the absence of a race and gender categorisation, the conventional BMI was found to be the appropriate index with which to predict body fat. When such a categorisation was made, however, the BMI was never selected as the appropriate index. In general, predicted female body fat was some 10 kg higher than that of a male of identical build and predicted % body fat was over 11 percentage points higher, but age effects were smaller for females. Considerable racial differences in predicted body fat were found for males, but such differences were less marked for females. The implications of this finding for interpreting recent research on the effect of obesity on health, society, and economic factors are considered.     

Almost Consistent Estimation of Panel Probit Models with “Small” Fixed Effects

We propose four different GMM estimators that allow almost consistent estimation of the structural parameters of panel probit models with fixed effects for the case of small Tand large N. The moments used are derived for each period from a first order approximation of the mean of the dependent variable conditional on explanatory variables and on the fixed effect. The estimators differ w.r.t. the choice of instruments and whether they use trimming to reduce the bias or not. In a Monte Carlo study, we compare these estimators with pooled probit and conditional logit estimators for different data generating processes. The results show that the proposed estimators outperform these competitors in several situations.

王国维在小说批评方面的代表作是《〈红楼梦〉评论》。其中运用的进化的文学史、严格的逻辑推理、艺术的审美理论为近代小说批评方法提供了借鉴     

白先勇短篇小说中意识流创作手法的流变

白先勇尝试运用现代派文学的表现技巧——意识流创作手法始于与台湾大学外文系同学创办《现代文学》杂志。以后，随着作家自身经历的变化和对意识流创作理论认识的深入，其笔下意识流这一创作手法呈现出鲜明的“模仿试睑一成熟定型——在扬弃中提升”的变化轨迹。     

线性科学与非线性科学哲学思想研究

在简述线性科学的科学基础、科学方法和哲学思想的基础上，研究了非线性科学的科学基础、科学方法和哲学思想，其中较为详细地探讨了非线性科学的哲学范畴和哲学思想，认为要多角度观察事物，要从变化中认识主要矛盾，事物的发展是多元竞争与协同的统一，这一结果将对非线性科学的哲学思想的进一步研究有一定的启发和借鉴作用。     

Random variate transformations in the Gibbs sampler: issues of efficiency and convergence

In the non-conjugate Gibbs sampler, the required sampling from the full conditional densities needs the adoption of black-box sampling methods. Recent suggestions include rejection sampling, adaptive rejection sampling, generalized ratio of uniforms, and the Griddy-Gibbs sampler. This paper describes a general idea based on variate transformations which can be tailored in all the above methods and increase the Gibbs sampler efficiency. Moreover, a simple technique to assess convergence is suggested and illustrative examples are presented.
