A sequence of independent lifetimes X 1,…, X m , X m+1,…, X n were observed from inverse Weibull distribution with mean stress θ1 and reliability R 1(t 0) at time t 0 but later it was found that there was a change in the system at some point of time m and it is reflected in the sequence after X m by change in mean stress θ1 and in reliability R 2(t 0) at time t 0. The Bayes estimators of m, R 1(t 0) and R 2(t 0) are derived when a poor and a more detailed prior information is introduced into the inferential procedure. The effects of correct and wrong prior information on the Bayes estimators are studied.  相似文献

Abstract

We propose a family of finite approximations for the departure process of a BMAP/MAP/1 queue. The departure process approximations are derived via an exact aggregate solution technique (called ETAQA) applied to M/G/1-type Markov processes. The proposed approximations are indexed by a parameter n(n > 1), which determines the size of the output model as n + 1 block levels of the M/G/1-type process. This output approximation preserves exactly the marginal distribution of the true departure process and the lag correlations of the interdeparture times up to lag n ? 2. Experimental results support the applicability of the proposed approximation in traffic-based decomposition of queueing networks.  相似文献

We establish strong consistency of the least squares estimates in multiple regression models discarding the usual assumption of the errors having null mean value. Thus, we required them to be i.i.d. with absolute moment of order r, 0<r<2, and null mean value when r>1. Only moderately restrictive conditions are imposed on the model matrix. In our treatment, we use an extension of the Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund strong law to overcome the errors mean value not being defined. In this way, we get a unified treatment for the case of i.i.d. errors extending the results of some previous papers.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a formal simple proof for the existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters of a general class of exponentiated distributions. Bednarski and Müller [Optimal bounded influence regression and scale M-estimators in the context of experimental design, Statistics 35 (2001), pp. 349–369] introduced a class of bounded influence M estimates for the simultaneous estimation of regression and scale in the linear model with normal errors by solving the corresponding normal location and scale problem at each design point. This limits the proposal to regressor distributions with finite support. Based on their approach, we propose a slightly extended class of M estimates that is not restricted to finite support and is numerically easier to handle. Moreover, we employ the even more general class of asymptotically linear (AL) estimators which, in addition, is not restricted to normal errors. The superiority of AL estimates is demonstrated by numerical comparisons of the maximum asymptotic mean-squared error over infinitesimal contamination neighbourhoods.  相似文献

A two-step estimation approach is proposed for the fixed-effect parameters, random effects and their variance σ2 of a Poisson mixed model. In the first step, it is proposed to construct a small σ2-based approximate likelihood function of the data and utilize this function to estimate the fixed-effect parameters and σ2. In the second step, the random effects are estimated by minimizing their posterior mean squared error. Methods of Waclawiw and Liang (1993) based on so-called Stein-type estimating functions and of Breslow and Clayton (1993) based on penalized quasilikelihood are compared with the proposed likelihood method. The results of a simulation study on the performance of all three approaches are reported.  相似文献

Three new entropy estimators of multivariate distributions are introduced. The two cases considered here concern when the distribution is supported by a unit sphere and by a unit cube. In the former case, the consistency and the upper bound of the absolute error for the proposed entropy estimator are established. In the latter one, under the assumption that only the moments of the underlying distribution are available, a non‐traditional estimator of the entropy is suggested. We also study the practical performances of the constructed estimators through simulation studies and compare the estimators based on the moment‐recovered approaches with their counterparts derived by using the histogram and k th nearest neighbour constructions. In this paper, we consider the Bayesian inference of the unknown parameters of the randomly censored Weibull distribution. A joint conjugate prior on the model parameters does not exist; we assume that the parameters have independent gamma priors. Since closed-form expressions for the Bayes estimators cannot be obtained, we use Lindley's approximation, importance sampling and Gibbs sampling techniques to obtain the approximate Bayes estimates and the corresponding credible intervals. A simulation study is performed to observe the behaviour of the proposed estimators. A real data analysis is presented for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the parameters of the generalized Pareto distribution. Both the method of moments and probability-weighted moments do not guarantee that their respective estimates will be consistent with the observed data. We present simple programs to predict the probability of obtaining such nonfeasible estimates. Our estimation techniques are based on results from intensive simulations and the successful modelling of the lower tail of the distribution of the upper bound of the support.
