ABSTRACT

This note presents an approximation to multivariate regression models which is obtained from a first-order series expansion of the multivariate link function. The proposed approach yields a variable-addition approximation of regression models that enables a multivariate generalization of the well-known goodness-of-link specification test, available for univariate generalized linear models. Application of this general methodology is illustrated with models of multinomial discrete choice and multivariate fractional data, in which context it is shown to lead to well-established approximation and testing procedures.  相似文献

Abstract

In this article, we introduce three new classes of multivariate risk statistics, which can be considered as data-based versions of multivariate risk measures. These new classes are multivariate convex risk statistics, multivariate comonotonic convex risk statistics and multivariate empirical-law-invariant convex risk statistics, respectively. Representation results are provided. The arguments of proofs are mainly developed by ourselves. It turns out that all the relevant existing results in the literature are special cases of those obtained in this article.  相似文献

A Multivariate Generalized Polya-Eggenberger Probability Model-First Passage Approach. Communications in Statistics—Theory and Methods 1997, 26, 871–884). Presently, both distributions are generalized to a multivariate generalized Polya distribution of order k by means of an appropriate sampling scheme and a first passage event. This new distribution includes as special cases new multivariate Polya and inverse Polya distributions of order k and the multivariate generalized negative binomial distribution of the same order derived recently in (Tripsiannis, G.A.; Philippou, A.N.; Papathanasiou, A.A. Multivariate Generalized Distributions of Order k. Medical Statistics Technical Report #41: Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, 2001). ABSTRACT

We derive the influence function of the likelihood ratio test statistic for multivariate normal sample. The derived influence function does not depend on the influence functions of the parameters under the null hypothesis. So we can obtain directly the empirical influence function with only the maximum likelihood estimators under the null hypothesis. Since the derived formula is a general form, it can be applied to influence analysis on many statistical testing problems.  相似文献

A wide variety of time series techniques are now used for generating forecasts of economic variables, with each technique attempting to summarize and exploit whatever regularities exist in a given data set. It appears that many researchers arbitrarily choose one of these techniques. The continuous extension of a discrete random variable is amongst the computational methods used for estimation of multivariate normal copula-based models with discrete margins. Its advantage is that the likelihood can be derived conveniently under the theory for copula models with continuous margins, but there has not been a clear analysis of the adequacy of this method. We investigate the asymptotic and small-sample efficiency of two variants of the method for estimating the multivariate normal copula with univariate binary, Poisson, and negative binomial regressions, and show that they lead to biased estimates for the latent correlations, and the univariate marginal parameters that are not regression coefficients. We implement a maximum simulated likelihood method, which is based on evaluating the multidimensional integrals of the likelihood with randomized quasi-Monte Carlo methods. Asymptotic and small-sample efficiency calculations show that our method is nearly as efficient as maximum likelihood for fully specified multivariate normal copula-based models. An illustrative example is given to show the use of our simulated likelihood method.  相似文献

Energy distance is a statistical distance between the distributions of random vectors, which characterizes equality of distributions. The name energy derives from Newton's gravitational potential energy, and there is an elegant relation to the notion of potential energy between statistical observations. Energy statistics are functions of distances between statistical observations in metric spaces. Thus even if the observations are complex objects, like functions, one can use their real valued nonnegative distances for inference. Theory and application of energy statistics are discussed and illustrated. Finally, we explore the notion of potential and kinetic energy of goodness-of-fit.  相似文献

Selection processes that are inherent in litigation complicate policy-oriented research of medical malpractice tort reforms. In regard to their deterrent impact, the range of potential inferences based on analyses of claim frequency is limited because plaintiffs only file a subset of potential claims. In regard to their impact on litigation costs, researchers often analyze data on claim disposition, but it is difficult to determine whether effects attributed to tort reforms reflect changes in litigant behavior or their influence on the selection of claims. In this article, we evaluate these problems and report results of our study of the effects of medical malpractice reforms on claim disposition.  相似文献

To keep the conditional variances generated by the GARCH (p, q) model nonnegative, Bollerslev imposed nonnegativity constraints on the parameters of the process. We show that these constraints can be substantially weakened and so should not be imposed in estimation.
