In many linear inverse problems the unknown function f (or its discrete approximation Θ p×1), which needs to be reconstructed, is subject to the non negative constraint(s); we call these problems the non negative linear inverse problems (NNLIPs). This article considers NNLIPs. However, the error distribution is not confined to the traditional Gaussian or Poisson distributions. We adopt the exponential family of distributions where Gaussian and Poisson are special cases. We search for the non negative maximum penalized likelihood (NNMPL) estimate of Θ. The size of Θ often prohibits direct implementation of the traditional methods for constrained optimization. Given that the measurements and point-spread-function (PSF) values are all non negative, we propose a simple multiplicative iterative algorithm. We show that if there is no penalty, then this algorithm is almost sure to converge; otherwise a relaxation or line search is necessitated to assure its convergence. 相似文献

We consider regularizations by convolution of the empirical process and study the asymptotic behaviour of non-linear functionals of this process. Using a result for the same type of non-linear functionals of the Brownian bridge, shown in a previous paper [4], and a strong approximation theorem, we prove several results for the p-deviation in estimation of the derivatives of the density. We propose several new tests for monotonicity of regression functions based on different empirical processes of residuals and pseudo‐residuals. The residuals are obtained from an unconstrained kernel regression estimator whereas the pseudo‐residuals are obtained from an increasing regression estimator. Here, in particular, we consider a recently developed simple kernel‐based estimator for increasing regression functions based on increasing rearrangements of unconstrained non‐parametric estimators. The test statistics are estimated distance measures between the regression function and its increasing rearrangement. A finite mixture model is considered in which the mixing probabilities vary from observation to observation. A parametric model is assumed for one mixture component distribution, while the others are nonparametric nuisance parameters. Generalized estimating equations (GEE) are proposed for the semi‐parametric estimation. Asymptotic normality of the GEE estimates is demonstrated and the lower bound for their dispersion (asymptotic covariance) matrix is derived. An adaptive technique is developed to derive estimates with nearly optimal small dispersion. An application to the sociological analysis of voting results is discussed. We consider asymmetric kernel estimates based on grouped data. We propose an iterated scheme for constructing such an estimator and apply an iterated smoothed bootstrap approach for bandwidth selection. We compare our approach with competing methods in estimating actuarial loss models using both simulations and data studies. The simulation results show that with this new method, the estimated density from grouped data matches the true density more closely than with competing approaches. 相似文献

When incomplete repeated failure times are collected from a large number of independent individuals, interest is focused primarily on the consistent and efficient estimation of the effects of the associated covariates on the failure times. Since repeated failure times are likely to be correlated, it is important to exploit the correlation structure of the failure data in order to obtain such consistent and efficient estimates. However, it may be difficult to specify an appropriate correlation structure for a real life data set. We propose a robust correlation structure that can be used irrespective of the true correlation structure. This structure is used in constructing an estimating equation for the hazard ratio parameter, under the assumption that the number of repeated failure times for an individual is random. The consistency and efficiency of the estimates is examined through a simulation study, where we consider failure times that marginally follow an exponential distribution and a Poisson distribution is assumed for the random number of repeated failure times.
