Nonlinear reproductive dispersion models (NRDM, Jorgensen 1997) include a wider range of distributions and nonlinear models such as the possibility of correlated errors and nonlinear hypotheses dropping the exponential family assumption. Based on the generalized Cook distance and the conformal normal curvature of Poon & Poon (1999), local influence of minor perturbations on the data set is investigated for NRDM. We address the problem of optimally forecasting a binary variable for a heterogeneous group of decision makers facing various (binary) decision problems that are tied together only by the unknown outcome. A typical example is a weather forecaster who needs to estimate the probability of rain tomorrow and then report it to the public. Given a conditional probability model for the outcome of interest (e.g., logit or probit), we introduce the idea of maximum welfare estimation and derive conditions under which traditional estimators, such as maximum likelihood or (nonlinear) least squares, are asymptotically socially optimal even when the underlying model is misspecified.  相似文献

 内生经济增长理论向来关注技术进步对经济增长的贡献,但现代研究却普遍忽视技术进步对异质性要素发展可能产生的偏向性影响,特别是技术进步能否呈现技能偏向性并引致不同类型劳动者报酬分化问题。本文利用双层嵌套型CES生产函数和非线性似不相关方法估计中国技能溢价水平,研究发现我国资本和劳动替代弹性小于1而技能和非技能劳动替代弹性大于1,技术进步偏向性及技能和非技能劳动的替代效应明显,利用技术进步偏向性模型模拟的数据与真实值无明显差异,印证技能溢价源于偏向型技术进步且偏向性效应不断强化。同时,回归方法检验结果也发现,技术进步偏向性对技能溢价正向效应显著,验证出我国技能溢价现象主要是源于技术进步偏向性作用的结果。  相似文献

本文通过理论分析和蒙特卡洛仿真模拟,研究平稳性检验中选用的统计量与数据生成过程不一致时,非线性ESTAR、LSTAR与线性DF检验法能否得出正确的结论.研究表明,二阶LSTAR与ESTAR模型可用相同的检验方法,但前者的非线性特征更强.当数据生成过程为线性AR,或非线性ESTAR、二阶LSTAR模型时,使用DF或ESTAR检验法可得出大致正确的结论,但LSTAR检验法完全失败.数据生成过程的非线性特征越强,ESTAR较DF检验方法的功效增益越高;线性特征越强,DF的功效增益越高.当转移函数F(θ,c,zt)中θ较大导致一阶泰勒近似误差较大或c非0时,标准ESTAR与LSTAR非线性检验法失去应用条件.θ较大或c偏离0较远时,数据生成过程中线性成分增强,用线性DF检验可获得更好的检验结果.  相似文献

In this article, we use two efficient approaches to deal with the difficulty in computing the intractable integrals when implementing Gibbs sampling in the nonlinear mixed effects model (NLMM) based on Dirichlet processes (DP). In the first approach, we compute the Laplace's approximation to the integral for its high accuracy, low cost, and ease of implementation. The second approach uses the no-gaps algorithm of MacEachern and Müller (1998 MacEachern , S. , Müller , P. ( 1998 ). Estimating mixtures of Dirichlet process models . We apply both approaches to real problems and simulations. Results show that both approaches perform well in density estimation and prediction and are superior to the parametric analysis in that they can detect important model features, such as skewness, long tails, and multimodality, whereas the parametric analysis cannot.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the proposal of a new prediction interval and band for the nonlinear regression model. The construction principle of this interval and band is based on an exact (the meaning of the term “exact” will be given later) confidence region for parameters of the nonlinear regression model. Optimal designs based on exact confidence regions for parameter estimation of a nonlinear regression model . Some statistics practitioners often ignore the underlying assumptions when analyzing a real data and employ the Nonlinear Least Squares (NLLS) method to estimate the parameters of a nonlinear model. In order to make reliable inferences about the parameters of a model, require that the underlying assumptions, especially the assumption that the errors are independent, are satisfied. However, in a real situation, we may encounter dependent error terms which prone to produce autocorrelated errors. A two-stage estimator (CTS) has been developed to remedy this problem. Nevertheless, it is now evident that the presence of outliers have an unduly effect on the least squares estimates. We expect that the CTS is also easily affected by outliers since it is based on the least squares estimator, which is not robust. In this article, we propose a Robust Two-Stage (RTS) procedure for the estimation of the nonlinear regression parameters in the situation where autocorrelated errors come together with the existence of outliers. The numerical example and simulation study signify that the RTS is more efficient than the NLLS and the CTS methods.  相似文献

This article investigates the properties of the estimators of the cointegrating vector when the cointegration error has a nonlinear adjustment. We investigate the properties of three estimators, namely, ordinary least squares (OLS), dynamic OLS (DOLS), and autoregressive distributed lag (ADL) models. Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate that although all the estimators have consistency under cointegration with a nonlinear adjustment, they suffer from severe size distortions for the t-statistics of the cointegrating vector when the cointegration error has a highly persistent nonlinear adjustment and endogeneity. The results imply that the use of DOLS and ADL for cointegration with nonlinear adjustment cannot sufficiently improve the estimates and size performances.  相似文献

Ridge regression solves multicollinearity problems by introducing a biasing parameter that is called ridge parameter; it shrinks the estimates as well as their standard errors in order to reach acceptable results. Many methods are available for estimating a ridge parameter. This article has considered some of these methods and also proposed a combined nonlinear programming model and Kibria method. A simulation study has been made to evaluate the performance of the proposed estimators based on the minimum mean squared error criterion. The simulation study indicates that under certain conditions the proposed estimators outperform the least squares (LS) estimators and other popular existing estimators. Moreover, the new proposed model is applied on dataset that suffers also from the presence of heteroscedastic errors.  相似文献

We develop a novel nonparametric likelihood ratio test for independence between two random variables using a technique that is free of the common constraints of defining a given set of specific dependence structures. Our methodology revolves around an exact density-based empirical likelihood ratio test statistic that approximates in a distribution-free fashion the corresponding most powerful parametric likelihood ratio test. We demonstrate that the proposed test is very powerful in detecting general structures of dependence between two random variables, including nonlinear and/or random-effect dependence structures. An extensive Monte Carlo study confirms that the proposed test is superior to the classical nonparametric procedures across a variety of settings. The real-world applicability of the proposed test is illustrated using data from a study of biomarkers associated with myocardial infarction.
