ABSTRACT

Objectives: This study sought to replicate and extend research on social facilitators of college student's help seeking for psychological problems. Participants: We collected data on 420 ethnically diverse college students at a large public university (September 2008–May 2010). Methods: Students completed a cross-sectional online survey. Results: We found that students who were aware of close others' (eg, family, friends) help seeking were two times more likely to have sought formal (eg, psychologist) and informal (eg, clergy) help themselves. Tests of moderation revealed the incremental effect (ie, controlling for help-seeking attitudes, internalizing symptoms, cultural demographics) of close others' formal help seeking was strong and significant for men (R2 = 0.112), while it was negligible and nonsignificant for women (R2 = .002). Conclusions: We discuss the importance for students—particularly men—to learn about close others' help seeking for facilitating their own help seeking during times of distress.  相似文献

对2002至2011年中国有关青年研究的样本文献进行科学计量学分析后发现,国内学界对该领域进行了持续探索.给我国的青年实践发展和社会进步提供了坚实的智力支持,但目前的研究仍存在诸多不足,包括研究内容过于集中、缺乏比较研究和实证分析、跨学科交叉研究有待进一步提升等。今后应进一步强化青年理论与实践相结合的研究力度,不断创新研究方法,拓展研究内容.加强比较分析和跨学科研究,在系统和整体把握当下国内青年研究动态的基础上,不断促进该领域研究的深入发展。  相似文献

The absence of social studies curriculum is a problem because it undermines the essential purposes of schooling: to prepare participatory, contributing members of a democratic society. In this article, we argue that integrating the literacy and social studies curricula is one meaningful way to support such civic-minded social studies instruction in elementary classrooms. As 2 teacher educators working with teacher candidates placed in their final clinical before student teaching, we saw the potential to model meaningful integration in literacy and social studies. In this 2-year qualitative study, we highlight how 14 teacher candidates engaged in the integration of literacy and social studies during their yearlong placement in a professional development school program and what factors influence their implementation of integration. Findings from this study revealed that effective integration required a strong vision of the complexities of integration and the importance of intentional planning. To get past the constraints of traditional compartmentalized scheduling, teacher candidates needed high-quality modeling of integration within their clinical placement. We offer implications for teacher educators and school/university partnerships.  相似文献

This study investigated predictors of and pathways to health literacy among Korean American immigrants residing in New York City (n = 407). Social Cognitive Theory guided the study and the Chew et al. 16-item health literacy screening scale was employed. Structural equation modeling using Mplus 4.21 tested the proposed conceptual model. Findings revealed that education and English proficiency were the most influential predictors of health literacy; education was directly associated with health literacy and indirectly through language proficiency. Predictors of greater English proficiency included higher levels of education, younger age, and unmarried status. The findings suggest that immigrants with minimal English abilities, little education, and no health insurance have particular intervention needs, perhaps best met by a patient-centered approach focusing on individual language needs and cultural health beliefs.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Health providers are challenged to find efficacious ways to provide health education to a population with diverse levels of health literacy. This project sought to test the effectiveness of a website (Diabetes and You) about Type II diabetes designed for non-diabetics with low health literacy. Research participants were observed as they viewed the Diabetes and You website, tested for diabetes knowledge before and after viewing the website, checked for functional health literacy, and interviewed to discover their perceptions of the website. Results indicate that users were engaged and interested in the website and particularly preferred the interactive risk assessment page. Users demonstrated an increase in knowledge about diabetes and its risks after viewing the website. Further research into the most effective ways of delivering health information online to this key target population is necessary to minimize the role of health literacy in limiting these individuals' acquisition and understanding of health information.  相似文献

2012年,一支由彝族青年组成的电影制作小组在凉山彝族自治州拍摄了一部名为《彝文之恋》的数字电影。在凉山彝区近年来由彝族制作的彝族题材彝语电影中,《彝文之恋》成为第一部主题涉及文字读写实践和“爱”的作品。本文对《彝文之恋》如何反映了彝文读写实践是一种社会性实践展开了思考。笔者引用柯林斯和布洛特(JamesCollinsandRichardBlot)以及斯特里特(BrianStreet)对口头传统和文字传统概念划分的批评,研究了彝族的文字读写实践是如何在本土的口头文学和文字经典之间互动,以及它们是如何在当代中国社会发展语境下展开,并根据阿赫恩(LauraAhearn)对尼泊尔马嘉族的文字读写,情书读写实践,和其社会变迁的研究,探究了彝人“情感结构”的变化,彝人恋爱观的转变是如何通过文字读写实践来表达以及新彝族文化身份的塑造。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the impact of Head Start, disability status, and receipt of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) on early language, literacy, and mathematics skills for low-income children with language, cognitive, emotional/behavioral, sensory, and physical disabilities. Secondary analysis of data was performed on a sample of children with disabilities (N = 570) drawn from the Head Start Impact Study, a nationally representative study of approximately 5,000 children randomly assigned to Head Start or non–Head Start programs. Results of ordinary least squares regression analyses indicated that Head Start participation enhanced outcomes for children with multiple disabilities; language, literacy, and mathematics skills at age 5–6 years were higher for these children compared to non–Head Start attendees. Head Start children with disabilities were more likely to have an IEP, though IEP receipt was associated with lower language, literacy, and mathematics scores among all children. There is a need to ensure that Head Start, and programs similar to Head Start, are more widely available to provide comprehensive, quality early childhood programming to children with cumulative risk factors (low income, multiple disabilities). Future research should clarify why IEP receipt was associated with poorer cognitive outcomes.  相似文献

数字乡村建设是建设数字中国、实现乡村振兴战略的必然选择和重要抓手,厘清数字乡村建设的动力来源是有效开展数字乡村建设的关键要义。从当前实践来看,我国正处于外源型模式的数字乡村建设初级阶段,具有短期内提升乡村数字化水平的优势,但也不可避免地面临可持续困境。随着乡村振兴制度设计的不断优化和村民日益增长的美好生活需要以及数字技术普惠效应的充分释放,内生式发展逐渐成为数字乡村建设的创新方案。有别于“外源型输送”的发展模式,“内生式发展”模式更注重内生力量的激发,但同时“内生式发展”模式存在着“动力黑箱”的梗阻。未来要可持续地建设数字乡村,应该发挥外源和内生模式的联动作用,从筑牢乡村的硬件基础、培育数字乡村共同体、优化制度设计理念以及推动城乡一体化发展等方面打造外源与内生耦合的建设图景,为实现数字乡村可持续发展提供理论方案。  相似文献

新生代农民工是我国经济社会发展中新出现的一个特殊而又极为重要的庞大群体,他们的文化程度有了显著的提高——近50%的人接受过中高等教育,渴求彻底地融入城市生活,然而城市还没有做好接纳他们的准备,在这一矛盾的前提下,社会的稳定受到了挑战。新生代农民工是维护社会稳定的重要力量,在面对外在客观环境、自身价值定位及切身利益实现的诸多现实问题时,他们对社会稳定具有双重影响的作用。因此,探索新生代农民工与社会稳定的关系,有益于我们更好地构建和谐社会,实现“中国梦”。  相似文献

期刊编辑从事的是信息工作,其信息素养水平的高低直接影响着自身成长和期刊发展。期刊编辑的信息素养主要由信息知识、信息意识、信息能力、信息道德等要素构成。文章分析了四个要素之间的关系、彼此在期刊编辑信息素养中的地位和作用,以及当前对期刊编辑信息素养研究在认识上的分歧和不足。指出今后进一步的研究主要集中在对期刊编辑信息素养的实证分析和理论性阐释上。  相似文献
